My Friend Ask Me To Recommend Laptop for His Children Usage

New Precision 7550 AI-Ready Data Science Workstations Laptop 10th Gen i9-10885H 8 Core 5.30 GHz vPro 15.6" UHD Non-Touch Quadro RTX 5000 16GB Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 5G LTE (12TB SSD|128GB RAM)

Hey guys,

Check it out!

So, my ex-colleague WhatsApp me this morning basically asking me to recommend a laptop for his children. He said that their current laptop lags and what brand am I using right now. I actually just bought myself an HP laptop last year. Did an unboxing video and blogging about it.

You can watch my HP laptop unboxing video here. Surprisingly, the video got a lot of views. The weird thing is that most of the viewers are from India. I know because some of them asked me questions in the Indian language. Most of them are probably students.

New Precision 7550 AI-Ready Data Science Workstations Laptop 10th Gen i9-10885H 8 Core 5.30 GHz vPro 15.6" UHD Non-Touch Quadro RTX 5000 16GB Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 5G LTE (12TB SSD|128GB RAM)

I asked my friend a couple of questions about their laptops. Like, what's the CPU and GPU, or how many rams it has. As, probably, they can just upgrade the rams if it's only 2GB or 4GB. I'm assuming they're using an old low-end spec laptop.

I don't really have any favorite brand though. I have used many computer brands throughout the years and they're all basically the same. Even Apple products will start to give you problems in the later stage. Right now, my iPad 10 pro seems to start to lag. I feel it's because of the bloated iOS updates.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 Anime Matrix Gaming and Entertainment Laptop (AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS 8-Core, 24GB RAM, 4TB PCIe SSD, NVIDIA RTX 2060 Max-Q, 14.0" QHD (2560x1440), WiFi, Win 10 Home) with Hub

If I have the money, I'll want to get the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Anime Matrix gaming laptop. With the latest AMD Ryzen 9 and RTX graphics. Now, that's what I call a high-end gaming laptop. Asus, been saying they have the latest liquid metal cooling system, I wonder how good is it.

Heat is always the main problem for a gaming system. Be it my Nintendo Switch/Switch lite, Powkiddy X18 Android gaming console, the Xbox, PS5, or even my Samsung Note 10+. My Note 10+ system app actually had to close the game Grid Autosport because it was over-heating.

2021 HP 15.6" FHD Touchscreen Laptop Computer, 10th Gen Intel Core i7-1065G7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, HD Audio, HD Webcam, Intel Iris Plus Graphics, Bluetooth, Windows 10, Silver, 32GB SnowBell USB Card

When getting a laptop, it primarily depends on your budget. I'm not sure what's my friend budget is but, if you want something for the kids that could last them for years, get the best specs that you can afford. Minimum 8GB ram, i5-i7, 256-1TB SSD, and a good webcam.

Nowadays, because of the pandemic, your kids need a good webcam. The Intel Iris or AMD Radeon mobile graphics are good enough for some low-mid range gaming. I'm not sure how old my friend kids are but I don't think they do hardcore gaming. If they do, the price might go way up just for the GPU.

2021 Acer Aspire 3 15.6" FHD Laptop Computer, 10th Gen Intel Quad-Core i5-1035G1, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB PCIe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics, Built-in Webcam, HDMI, Windows 10, Black, 32GB SnowBell USB Card

The design is actually important for me too. Although, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's also good that the laptop of today is getting slimmer and lighter too. The problem with that is sometimes everything is integrated into the motherboard that you're pretty much stuck with the specs.

Samsung has even designed and boasted a laptop that's like the mobile phone today. The specs aren't that bad either. Although, I'm not sure about the gaming aspect. I don't know why they like to hide the Intel GPU. You have to search through everything to finally find it.

It's always good to look out for great sales offer though. That's how I got my HP laptop. It got a standard webcam, touch ID for logging on to your laptop. 15.6" screen and a full backlit keyboard with a keypad. Mine is an AMD Ryzen 7 with Radeon RX Vega 10 mobile graphics.

I also got a minimum of 8GB DDR4 Ram and 512GB SSD for storage. Got it for around USD$640. Pretty much a budget purchase. If I'm to recommend my friend, it'll be this specs-wise laptop.

Hey Apple Where Is My iPad Mini With M1 Chip And Better Camera?

2019 Apple iPad Mini (Wi-Fi + Cellular, 64GB) - Space Gray

Hey guys,

Check it out!

If you have been reading my blog post, you know I like mini laptops or tablets. My latest favorite mini Android gaming console is the Powkiddy X18. You can get the GPD XD Plus which have better specs here on Amazon. Its portability is what I like most.

Since the X18 is using Android O.S, besides gaming, I can also use it as a mini-tablet. I can surf the net, watch youtube videos, checking emails, etc. In fact, it actually reminds me of my New Nintendo 3DS XL. Only, better. Although, I wish it has a camera for making video calls on it.

2019 Apple iPad Mini (Wi-Fi + Cellular, 64GB) - Space Gray

  • 7.9-inch Retina Display with True Tone and wide Color A12
  • Bionic chip
  • Touch ID fingerprint sensor
  • 8MP back camera, 7MP FaceTime HD front camera
  • Stereo speakers
Apple has already announced its new iPad with M1 chips. They have also improved the camera. This is definitely great because I've been using my iPad Pro 10.5 inch to take videos, pictures, and create background music for my youtube channel.

One reason, I like using the iPad is because of the FREE iMovie and GarageBand apps that come with it. No other company that I know of that actually offers those essential apps. I'll be sticking with Apple products for some time yet.

2020 Apple iPad Air (10.9-inch, Wi-Fi + Cellular, 256GB) - Space Gray (4th Generation)

It's kinda weird that Apple hasn't updated their 2019 version of the iPad mini. All the other iPads now have the M1 chips. So, what happened to the iPad mini? Imagine an iPad mini with the power of the M1 chips and a better camera.

For one thing, it won't be awkwardly big when I'm using it to take videos and pictures. I can easily put it on a stand or hold it with one hand which I usually do sometimes. It'll also be great to be used with a smart or Apple magic keyboard.

Apple Magic Keyboard (for 12.9-inch iPad Pro - 4th Generation) - US English

I really like the design of the Apple Magic Keyboard which now comes with a touchpad. They certainly took their time to allow us to use a mouse on the iPad. Now, it looks like a laptop. It's the flexibility to use it as you like. That's what the customer wants. The freedom of choice.

The magic keyboard will fit nicely with the new iPad mini. I always use a keyboard when I'm editing my videos. Which is definitely much better than typing on the touchscreen. If I don't need it, I just use my iPad as a tablet. Flexibility, my friend.

Anyway, hope Apple is actually working on an iPad mini with the M1 chips. It'll be the most powerful mini-tablet out there. Right now, there actually isn't any. I have a 7-inch Android tablet which I don't use because the battery sucks and it's kinda slow. I can't use it for my work.

Like I've said, as a Youtuber, a portable iPad mini with an M1 chip with a better camera would be great for my usage.

Controlling my STS-PI RASPBERRY PI ROBOT WITH POWKIDDY X18! #powkiddyx18 #raspberrypirobotcar

GPD XD Plus [Official distributor, Latest HW & Most Stable Update] Foldable Handheld Game Consoles 5" Touchscreen, Android 7.0 Fast Mediatek MT8176 Hexa-core 2.1GHz CPU, 4GB RAM/32GB ROM

(All links will open up in a new tab.)

Hey guys,

Check it out!

A couple of blog posts ago, I wanted to try if I could control my STS-Pi, a Raspberry Pi robot with the Powkiddy X18 integrated controller. I decided to dust off my R3 and make it happen. I have to research some of the things that I've forgotten.

My 16GB MicroSD cards with Recallbox and Raspbian OS wouldn't work. I haven't played with them for a while and I'm not sure why they won't work anymore. I had to re-format one of the cards that has a Kano OS.

GPD XD Plus [Official distributor, Latest HW & Most Stable Update] Foldable Handheld Game Consoles 5" Touchscreen, Android 7.0 Fast Mediatek MT8176 Hexa-core 2.1GHz CPU, 4GB RAM/32GB ROM

I love Kano OS. It's actually for kids to learn about computers and coding. I decided to re-download and install the old version of Raspbian-stretch because I need to use the Raspi-config to turn on my Raspberry Pi camera.

I'm using the same Raspberry Pi 3 that used to learn to make everything work. I didn't want the hassle of having to learn anything new now. If I can get the things that used to work and just try to use the Powkiddy X18 remap buttons, I'll then be able to control my sts-pi robot with the integrated controller.

Freenove 4WD Smart Car Kit for Raspberry Pi 4 B 3 B+ B A+, Face Tracking, Line Tracking, Light Tracing, Obstacle Avoidance, Colorful Light, Ultrasonic Camera Servo Wireless RC

I installed the Pimoroni software via the terminal. The web control didn't work when I tried to show it on my video, it suddenly stopped working. So, I just went straight to using SCRATCH. Using scratch to control my sts-pi motor is much easier.

Visit this site for more info on the STS-PI robot if you also have the Explorer Hat. For control using SCRATCH, go to this blog. Download the link for the scratch template and add the scratch code to the template. This way, you can control the motor and also take pictures at the same time. Pretty nifty.

PIM082 - Explorer HAT Pro for 40-Pin Raspberry Pi

Powkiddy X18 remap buttons work by just putting it to the scratch code. I also tried using the on-screen keyboard but, if you open the remap button, the keyboard will go away. I discovered that I can just use the remap button when I select the on-screen mouse available with the Raspbian OS.

When you use the on-screen mouse, the arrow keys and several other useful keyboard keys are at the bottom of the screen. I tried putting the remap buttons on those keys and it finally works. So, now, I can control the motors with the integrated controller. Voila!

The Powkiddy X18 is really becoming my jack-of-all-trades device. I really like it. If I had known, it was not just for Android or retro gaming, I might have bought it much earlier. Maybe I wasn't ready for it.

When you're my age, you suddenly realize things seem to be happening for a reason and at the right time. I noticed it when my father died a couple of months before the virus was reported. He has diabetes and it would be pretty hard to see him during or if he dies during the pandemic.

I got fired from my job before the pandemic. No problem staying at home throughout the earlier days. I took the opportunity to blog and do YouTube videos. I want to thank those who bought stuff via my Amazon links as it helps.

I love tech and games!

Play Command Line linux games with Powkiddy X18 controller

GPD XD Plus [Official distributor, Latest HW & Most Stable Update] Foldable Handheld Game Consoles 5" Touchscreen, Android 7.0 Fast Mediatek MT8176 Hexa-core 2.1GHz CPU, 4GB RAM/32GB ROM

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Like I've said before, one of the reasons I like the Powdiddy X18 or GPD XD Plus is because you can install the Termux app on it. Termux is a Linux terminal app for Android devices. It's not a full Linux O.S. but in spite of that, you can do quite a lot with it.

I'm no Linux expert but if you have used Linux distros, you basically know what it's all about. Now, you can already use WSL aka Windows Subsystem for Linux on a Microsoft Windows 10 pc. Termux is like the WSL of Android devices. In fact, with Andronix, I can even install Ubuntu 20 on my Powkiddy X18. Cool!

GPD XD Plus [Official distributor, Latest HW & Most Stable Update] Foldable Handheld Game Consoles 5" Touchscreen, Android 7.0 Fast Mediatek MT8176 Hexa-core 2.1GHz CPU, 4GB RAM/32GB ROM

As with any Linux terminal, you can install stuff. Of course, I'm interested in games. So, I like to check out games that can be played on the terminal. One of the few games I like is ninvaders and nsnake. Which you can install by typing sudo apt install ninvaders or nsnake.

Once, installed, you can play by typing the name of the game on the terminal. Pretty nifty. The games are pretty basic and there's no music or sound effect. But, it's still fun to play. Especially, now that I found out, I can play with the integrated controller of the Powkiddy X18.

Powkiddy X18 Handheld Games Console 2-Player Video Game Machine 5.5-Inch WiFi

I prefer to install Ubuntu 20 and use it instead of Termux because I wanted the latest python 3. Which is also included. So, how cool is that to be able to code and mess around with Python on a portable gaming device such as the X18 and XD Plus?

In any case, I'm actually surprised that I can play this old command-line Linux game with a controller. The stupid thing is that not all Android games can be played with a controller. That's why I like playing retro games. They come with controller support and best of all you can play them offline without ads.

GPD Win 2 [256GB M.2 SSD Storage] Mini Handheld Windows 10 Video Game Console Gameplayer 6" Laptop Notebook Tablet PC CPU M3-8100Y intel HD Graphics 615 8GB/256GB

I really like the portability of these devices that also allows me to use them like a computer any time and anywhere. Yes, there are laptops but to me, the smaller they are, the better. Of course, best of all for gamers is that they also come with an integrated keyboard or controller.

For small devices like this, I think an Android O.S. is good enough. They don't need lots of power like Microsoft Windows. Of course, the more powerful the CPU and GPU the better. Right now, you'll have a problem playing PUBG or COD mobile on the powkiddy X18.

[256GB M.2 SSD Version] GPD MicroPC Micro PC 6-inch Handheld Industry Laptop Mini PC Computer Windows 10 Pro or Ubuntu MATE,Supports RS-232,RJ45,Type C,USB 3.0,HDMI,MicroSDXC,Battery 2×3100mAh,8GB RAM

For average users, Android is already good enough. You can surf the net, watch youtube, check emails, listen to music, and much more. And, you can even use it for school or work. Why do you need an expensive high-end Windows 10 laptop for all that?

For the budget-conscious, Android devices fit theirs needs. Unless, of course, if you want to play the latest triple-A games. You can't compare simple command-line Linux games to games like Cyberpunk 2077. But, I'll still love, if I can play that game on the go on a portable game device.

Maybe, I can play PC games by streaming them to my Powkiddy X18 or the GPD XD Plus. But, I prefer if I can install it directly to the portable game console, like the Nintendo Switch. Well, I can already play Crysis on it. Although, I still can't use it as a normal PC, yet.

One thing for sure, I'm going to look out for more fun Linux stuff to do on my Powkiddy X18 after this post.

USING WEBCAM TO RECORD VIDEOS AND TAKE PICTURES ON POWKIDDY X18!

GPD XD Plus [Official distributor, Latest HW & Most Stable Update] Foldable Handheld Game Consoles 5" Touchscreen, Android 7.0 Fast Mediatek MT8176 Hexa-core 2.1GHz CPU, 4GB RAM/32GB ROM

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Well, I finally got the USB Webcam to work on my Powkiddy X18. It's not without a problem though. It doesn't easily connect and I discovered that I need to open and close the app or go to the setting to change the permission. Either way, as long as it works.

I also found out later that the USB Webcam, an Android app that I like couldn't record with sound. After fed up with messing around with the settings, I tried other apps from the Google Play Store and found one that can. And, it's even free without any pesky ads.

GPD XD Plus [Official distributor, Latest HW & Most Stable Update] Foldable Handheld Game Consoles 5" Touchscreen, Android 7.0 Fast Mediatek MT8176 Hexa-core 2.1GHz CPU, 4GB RAM/32GB ROM

I thought that it might be because of the OTG cable at first, not being good enough. But, when I tried again, it works. I still have to open and close the app though. Kinda a hassle. But, like I said, as long as it finally works. Lol. You have to keep trying if it doesn't work the first time around.

My USB webcam is a pretty cheap one. Cost me only around $10 bucks after redeeming the voucher. If you intend to get a good picture or video, you might want to invest in the expensive and smaller one. I'm only interested in using it for video calls on my PC and testing on the Powkiddy X18.

Powkiddy X18 Handheld Games Console 2-Player Video Game Machine 5.5-Inch WiFi

I really like the Powkiddy X18. I didn't really look at it at first because I thought it's just another Android and Retro gaming console. It's when I realized that I can install Termux or Ubuntu (via the Andronix app) on it that I become interested.

The clamshell form factor makes it looks like a mini laptop. Actually, it's almost the same exact copy of the New Nintendo 3DS XL. But, it doesn't have a camera, a second screen, and a stylus. The X18, Android OS flexibility is what I've always wanted on my old NN3DS XL.

2K Super HD Best Webcam for Live Streaming Gaming Distance Meetings Video Record. USB Web Camera with Extra Gift of Earbuds Zoom/Skype/Facetime/Teams, PC Mac Laptop Desktop

I'm wondering if I can use a Bluetooth or wifi security camera to connect to my X18. That will be cool. I'm also thinking of linking it to my raspberry pi 3 car and using the controller to control it. Having the remap button app will be nifty to use.

I haven't played with my raspberry pi for a while now. It might be handy now to try and work with the Powkiddy X18. One thing, I haven't tried out is creating my own drone. Not having the parts is making it difficult for me to try it. But, would have been interesting to be able to control it with the X18.

Ruko F11Gim Drones with Camera for Adults, 2-Axis Gimbal 4K EIS Camera, 2 Batteries 56Mins Flight Time, Brushless Motor, 5GHz FPV Transmission, GPS Auto Return Home, 5times Zoom No Fisheye

The Powkiddy X18 and the GPD XD Plus is using Android O.S. hopefully, they'll build something as close as the current high-end mobile phone. With all the bells and whistles. The difference with the mobile phone is of course the integrated controller.

At the end of the day, you can always go back to playing Android or retro games on it. Having an integrated controller means you don't have to carry extra stuff around. One thing for sure, as much as I like being able to link an external controller or triggers, having something like the X18 is much better.

I find myself being lazy to add those accessories to play games on my mobile phone. That's why the X18 with its integrated controller is much better and less of a hassle. Now, I'm hoping for an upgraded version with a camera so I can easily do video calls, take some pictures or videos. All on my cheap X18!

USB WEBCAM Unboxing - Test On PC And Powkiddy X18?

1080P Business Webcam with Dual Microphone & Privacy Cover, 2021 [Upgraded] NexiGo USB FHD Web Computer Camera, Plug and Play, for Zoom/Skype/Teams Online Teaching, Laptop MAC PC Desktop

Hey guys

Check it out!

I finally received my USB Webcam and did an unboxing video. Check it out here. Frankly, I don't expect much from the camera that claims to be 1080P. Since I bought it for only around $10 bucks with redeems voucher.

I was planning to use it for video-call via Whatsapp on my computer and testing if it'll work on my Powkiddy X18 Android/Retro gaming console. I bought this no-brand webcam that will auto-install the general USB webcam driver on Microsoft Windows PC.

1080P Business Webcam with Dual Microphone & Privacy Cover, 2021 [Upgraded] NexiGo USB FHD Web Computer Camera, Plug and Play, for Zoom/Skype/Teams Online Teaching, Laptop MAC PC Desktop

The camera also comes with a noise-canceling mic which didn't work at first. I tried video-call my sis and it didn't recognize the mic. I thought I had to install or update the driver. Instead, I decided to try restarting the PC, and voila, it works!

The camera didn't come with any software. I tried it with an old software I downloaded years back. It kinda works but in the end, I just use the Microsoft general camera app. The video kinda lags when I used the 1920 X 1080P but becomes smooth when using the 640 X 360 video format.

Logitech BRIO Ultra HD Webcam for Video Conferencing, Recording, and Streaming - Black

When I was recording the video with my iPad pro 10.5, I realized my iPad camera is much better than the cheap webcam. Much sharper and cleaner. I guess if you want anything better, you'll have to be willing to cough up the dough.

Anyway, I'm really interested in testing the camera on my Powdiddy X18. I read the manual that the USB Webcam supposed to also work on Android. That's a plus. Although, I'm pretty sure any latest USB webcam will work. I already tried my old webcam and it didn't. Part of the reason I decided to get a new one.

Powkiddy X18 Handheld Games Console 2-Player Video Game Machine 5.5-Inch WiFi

You can download any USB Webcam Android apps on the Google Play Store but currently, only one work for me. Also, I tried my OTG cable and it didn't work. It works once I change to another type of OTG cable with multiple USB connectors that also have a power connector.

I'm not sure if the camera needs the power to work. As maybe, the X18 battery power isn't strong enough? I'm trying it again after this post. The important thing for me is that I have proved my point that a USB Webcam can be connected to an Android device and especially on the X18.

GPD XD Plus [Official distributor, Latest HW & Most Stable Update] Foldable Handheld Game Consoles 5" Touchscreen, Android 7.0 Fast Mediatek MT8176 Hexa-core 2.1GHz CPU, 4GB RAM/32GB ROM

One thing though is that Whatsapp on my Powkiddy X18 doesn't recognize the webcam. So, I can't use it to video call on my X18. It would have been awesome if I can use any video call app. Other than that, the webcam can be used to record videos and take pictures albeit not so good ones.

Now, you can use your X18 or GPD XD Plus to take videos or pictures on the go. You might want to get something smaller and that can be clip on the small screen. If you want better videos and pictures, you'll want to get a better webcam than the cheap one I bought.

Of course, it'll be great if in the future iteration of the Android/Retro gaming devices comes with 4G/5G and a front/back camera. I'm sure, the price can be kept lower than an NN3DS XL. I like the fact, you can also use it as a mini Android laptop. Just add a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse!

Powkiddy X18 - Make Dope Music with Drum Pad Machine

Powkiddy X18 Handheld Games Console 2-Player Video Game Machine 5.5-Inch WiFi

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Lol. By now, you guys probably would have get it. Yes, Powkiddy X18 is a pretty cool Android portable gaming console. I really like the form factor, which is like a mini laptop. And also, it's almost the same as my New Nintendo 3DS XL. Only, I can do much more with the X18.

The problem with the NN3DS XL is that it doesn't have social media. It doesn't have an open O.S. like Android. You can practically do anything with Android. Part of the reason, I got the X18 is because I can install Ubuntu 20 via Termux (Andronix). An app that lets you use the Linux terminal.

Powkiddy X18 Handheld Games Console 2-Player Video Game Machine 5.5-Inch WiFi

Frankly, I was waiting for my Android tablet laptop to arrive but somehow it got lost during the delivery. Luckily, I got a refund. So, I look around, and when I found out that this Powkiddy X18 and GPD XD Plus can also be used for other things besides gaming, I was intrigued.

I thought these devices were only for playing Android and retro games. It also comes with an integrated controller. But, it's not as powerful as your mobile phone. It only uses the MTK8163 CPU. It is good enough for some gaming and usual everyday stuff like checking emails, social media, and youtube.

GPD XD Plus [Official distributor, Latest HW & Most Stable Update] Foldable Handheld Game Consoles 5" Touchscreen, Android 7.0 Fast Mediatek MT8176 Hexa-core 2.1GHz CPU, 4GB RAM/32GB ROM

I found out that you can use Bluetooth to add an external controller or OTG cable to link via cable. You can also link to your monitor or TV via the mini HDMI port. Pretty useful, as you can then use it as an Android computer. It's using Android 7.0 but still powerful enough for basic computing.

I really like the small compact and portable folding form. You can open it up and let it sit on the table. Bluetooth your keyboard and mouse and voila a mini-computer setup. For simple tasks, you don't need to lug around a Windows laptop anymore.

Hip-Hop Drum Pads 24

As an android device, you can download many games and apps on it. I decided to try downloading a drum pad machine app and see how good it'll be. Obviously, it's more on using the touchscreen and it's not that awkward to use. Even with the small 5.5" screen.

The sound coming out of it is not that bad. But, it'll be better if you put it on a table so the sound will be more prominent. You can use a cable to link to your favorite speaker but I link it up to my Harmon Kardon Bluetooth speaker. Which is easy to pair and connect.

GPD Win 2 [256GB M.2 SSD Storage] Mini Handheld Windows 10 Video Game Console Gameplayer 6" Laptop Notebook Tablet PC CPU M3-8100Y intel HD Graphics 615 8GB/256GB

I'm not a professional DJ or musician but I can see them using this type of Android device for their gigs. In fact, anybody can use it for anything. The small form factor is definitely a plus. A lot of mobile gamers have two phones, one for gaming and the other one for communication.

The powkiddy X18 and GPD XD Plus also has an integrated controller, which is a plus for gaming. Especially those FPS shooter games. Of course, you can also play other games like RPG if they have controller support. If not, you can use the remap buttons app which is already included.

I think I'm glad that I didn't get the tablet as the X18 pretty much good enough for my entertainment, gaming, and general usage. The small and compact form factor, the portability, the Android O.S., and able to play with Linux via the terminal are definitely a plus.

Powkiddy X18 - Shadow Hunter - Lost World gameplay!

Powkiddy X18 Handheld Games Console 2-Player Video Game Machine 5.5-Inch WiFi

Hey guys,

Check it out!

The Powkiddy X18 with just the CPU MTK 8163 is good for your normal Android task. Like social media, watching youtube, checking emails, and even some school or office work. But, when it comes to gaming, forget about PUBG, Call of Duty mobile, and Asphalt 9 Legends.

You can actually play Asphalt 9 Legends and even Gear.Club racing game but the graphics are greatly diminished. Some games like Shadow Fighting 3 plays well but in-between game, they load a little slow. Even Bubble Witch will freeze once in a while.

That's why as much as I like the Powkiddy X18 if you're looking for something more powerful and at least able to play PUBG or COD mobile, then get the GPD XD Plus. It'll cost a little more but if you can't live without playing those kinds of games, it's worth the investment.

If you don't really care for the graphics-intensive games, then, of course, the Powkiddy X18 is more than enough. They also cost less. There are many other good games in the Google play store like Shadow Hunter - Lost World. Check out my video gameplay here.

The good news is, as I've stated in my last post is that my favorite Zombie shooter FPS games from Madfinger plays well on the X18. Any 'old' shooter games like Dead Effect 2, Shadowgun, and N.O.V.A are great with the integrated controller. You can even remap the buttons to your playing style.

The integrated controller and the remap button software which is included for free is what makes this Android portable game console work. Well, some games are best played with the touchscreen, and sometimes, I don't really mind. Might be a little awkward with the folding form factor.

What I like about the Powkiddy X18 or the GPD XD Plus is that they're more than just for gaming. Android games or retro games. Because it uses Android O.S. 7.0 (I wish it was the latest version) you can use it as an android phone or laptop.

I even set it up so I can use Whatsapp on the X18. I can send messages, voice messages, and even Wifi calling. I discovered that you can link your webcam to an Android device. I tried it out with my old webcam, it didn't work. So, I bought a new one, hoping this time, it'll work.

Hopefully, in the latest Powkiddy X18, they'll add a webcam to it so that people can do video calls. Nowadays, everyone prefers to video call. Even my mom likes to video call. They definitely need to do a 4G or 5G version. Maybe with the latest CPU and GPU?

Of course, if you want to add all that, it might be a little more pricey. That's probably why they chose the MediaTek (main website) processor. The price is also part of the reason why I got it in the first place. For now, it's more than good enough.

I kept forgetting to mention this but you can also link via mini HDMI cable to your monitor or Tv. So you can game on the big screen or work on a bigger monitor screen. Pretty nifty. For simple work and school tasks, I've always said Android is good enough. All this on a cheap portable gaming console!

Powkiddy X18 - The New Nintendo 3DS XL that I Had Always Wanted!

Powkiddy X18 Handheld Games Console 2-Player Video Game Machine 5.5-Inch WiFi

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Yes, I'm still going to talk about Powkiddy X18. It's because I'm still messing around with it. Well, yesterday night, I took out my retro ROMs MicroSD card from my Android tablet and put it into my X18. I forget how big the storage was until I realized it contains all my ROMs, music, pictures, etc.

Since I seldom use my tablet anymore, might as well used it on my X18. Anyway, retro gaming or any kind of gaming is much more fun with a physical controller. And, the X18 comes integrated with one. With a couple of thousands of retro games available, this is becoming my ultimate retro gaming system.

  • CPU: MTK 8163, quad-core A53 64-bit processor 1.3GHz. Memory: 2GDDR3+16GB EMMC. Battery: 5000 mAh.
The funny thing is that the form factor design is obviously copied from the Nintendo 3DS. I make a quick physical comparison on my unboxing video. You can watch it here. I wish they copied everything though. Like a second screen, a stylus pen, and the camera.

Back in the day, I wish they'll improve on the NN3DS XL. Especially, the graphics. I remember watching youtube on it but now you can't. I still have it so, not being able to watch youtube kinda sucks. I can't quite remember if you can browse the Internet or do social media back then.

Now, I have the Nintendo Switch lite but as much as I love it, I'll always feel something missing. Yes, that's the part the Powkiddy X18 or the GPD XD Plus can fill it up. The difference with the X18 is that it uses Android O.S. which is like a lighter version of Microsoft Windows.

I don't really game all the time. I check my emails, read up on news, do research on Google, messaging, voice messages, video call my family and friends with Whatsapp, watch youtube, listen to music and social media. You know, the everyday thingy.

Yes, I know. I already do all that on my Samsung Note 10+. In fact, I even have my Blackberry used as my second phone. Now, I consider the Powkiddy X18 as my main device to do all that. I even use it occasionally to Whatsapp my family and close friend.

That's why I wish the X18 has a camera like mine 3ds xl. I would have used it for video calls. Imagine, if the X18 also has a second screen, you can use it for a touchscreen keyboard or touchpad. That big empty space in between the controller is such a waste of space.

GPD Win 2 [256GB M.2 SSD Storage] Mini Handheld Windows 10 Video Game Console Gameplayer 6" Laptop Notebook Tablet PC CPU M3-8100Y intel HD Graphics 615 8GB/256GB

If you want something light and portable for entertainment and social media, you don't need Microsoft Windows software. I used to hate the early version of Android, now, you can do everything as if you're using a Windows PC. The best part that the mobile phone and a laptop don't have is the integrated controller.

The integrated controller is what makes the difference. That's why I love gaming on my Nintendo Switch and NN3DS XL. Even if you don't like the integrated controller you can buy an external controller. But, the important thing is that there's an integrated one for on-the-go gaming!

The Powdiddy X18 and the GPD XD Plus though also lets you use it as a mini laptop. It's what I had always wanted to do on my NN3DS XL years ago. And, even on my Switch lite now. But, if they put a second touchscreen/touchpad and a camera for video-calling, it'll be 90% perfect!
