The other day, I saw a guy on YouTube talking about using an iPhone as their main camera, instead of buying expensive cameras and lenses for photography and videography. I commented that I've been using several iterations of the iPhone to do that!

I've talked about it on my blog years ago. Since I couldn't afford a camera, using my iPhone was the next best thing. Sometimes, I'd even use my iPad. In fact, using the iPad is much better as the screen is much bigger for editing.

I discovered earlier that the iPhone camera is quite good. I use it mostly for my unboxing videos. I prefer bigger storage spaces. The most important thing was the free editing app available on the iPhone, the iMovie. I love the iMovie app.

Sure, there are many other good so-called 'free' apps. But, they sometimes come with watermarks and are worse now with the trial version. Which really sucks. They used to be totally free. I used to enjoy using the GoPro free app. Now, I don't use them.

I also have a Samsung Android phone. Sometimes, I use it for photography and videography. Now, you can use Google or Samsung free video editing software. They're good, too, and free. But, iMovie is still the main driver for me. 

In the early days, my iPhone used to stop working in the middle of my editing like my computer constantly froze. I'd have to redo it again unless I had saved it. It was really exasperating. My computer wasn't the high-end type.

I didn't know it back then but if you want to do heavy video editing, you should get a high-end gaming PC or laptop. They usually offer the best CPU and GPU. The minimum is 16GB of Rams. I'm using my gaming PC right now. That is my main daily driver.

My PC seldom hangs when I use it for video editing. It has 16GB of RAM and has it for over 5 years. Think of upgrading to the latest available. I don't use it for video editing now as I'm running out of storage. Currently, I'm using my Apple Macbook Pro M1 Pro.

The Apple MacBook is good. But, it's damn expensive. I took a plunge as I wanted a good laptop for video editing. As always, it has the iMovie for video editing. That's one of the reasons I decided to get a Mac. I have the 16GB version but if I had the extra dough, I would have chosen with more rams.

The MacBook Pro laptop was useful when I brought it along on vacation. I edited my photos and videos when we returned to our Airbnb house. I didn't have to wait to return home. Check out these videos which I took using my Nikon Zfc and edited on my Mac.

I've been making videos for my YouTube channel for years. There are over 1000 videos. I wasn't into YouTube in the early days. I just upload random stuff. It was only later on that I began to do unboxing videos and learn about video editing etc. 

Oh yes, the rain has finally stopped!

So, my ex-colleague WhatsApp me this morning basically asking me to recommend a laptop for his children. He said that their current laptop lags and what brand am I using right now. I actually just bought myself an HP laptop last year. Did an unboxing video and blogging about it.

You can watch my HP laptop unboxing video here. Surprisingly, the video got a lot of views. The weird thing is that most of the viewers are from India. I know because some of them asked me questions in the Indian language. Most of them are probably students.

I asked my friend a couple of questions about their laptops. Like, what's the CPU and GPU, or how many rams it has. As, probably, they can just upgrade the rams if it's only 2GB or 4GB. I'm assuming they're using an old low-end spec laptop.

I don't really have any favorite brand though. I have used many computer brands throughout the years and they're all basically the same. Even Apple products will start to give you problems in the later stage. Right now, my iPad 10 pro seems to start to lag. I feel it's because of the bloated iOS updates.

If I have the money, I'll want to get the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Anime Matrix gaming laptop. With the latest AMD Ryzen 9 and RTX graphics. Now, that's what I call a high-end gaming laptop. Asus, been saying they have the latest liquid metal cooling system, I wonder how good is it.

Heat is always the main problem for a gaming system. Be it my Nintendo Switch/Switch lite, Powkiddy X18 Android gaming console, the Xbox, PS5, or even my Samsung Note 10+. My Note 10+ system app actually had to close the game Grid Autosport because it was over-heating.

When getting a laptop, it primarily depends on your budget. I'm not sure what's my friend budget is but, if you want something for the kids that could last them for years, get the best specs that you can afford. Minimum 8GB ram, i5-i7, 256-1TB SSD, and a good webcam.

Nowadays, because of the pandemic, your kids need a good webcam. The Intel Iris or AMD Radeon mobile graphics are good enough for some low-mid range gaming. I'm not sure how old my friend kids are but I don't think they do hardcore gaming. If they do, the price might go way up just for the GPU.

The design is actually important for me too. Although, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's also good that the laptop of today is getting slimmer and lighter too. The problem with that is sometimes everything is integrated into the motherboard that you're pretty much stuck with the specs.

Samsung has even designed and boasted a laptop that's like the mobile phone today. The specs aren't that bad either. Although, I'm not sure about the gaming aspect. I don't know why they like to hide the Intel GPU. You have to search through everything to finally find it.

It's always good to look out for great sales offer though. That's how I got my HP laptop. It got a standard webcam, touch ID for logging on to your laptop. 15.6" screen and a full backlit keyboard with a keypad. Mine is an AMD Ryzen 7 with Radeon RX Vega 10 mobile graphics. 

I also got a minimum of 8GB DDR4 Ram and 512GB SSD for storage. Got it for around USD$640. Pretty much a budget purchase. If I'm to recommend my friend, it'll be this specs-wise laptop.

I've been saying how great my 2 in 1 Windows 10 tablet Pc is. Well, I think I've reached its limits. Like yesterday, I finally realized my 15.6 inch HP AMD Ryzen 7 laptop is much better if I want to use it for learning (dabbling) to codes.

First off, my 2 in 1 tablet 10-inch screen is too small for my eyes. I'm wearing spectacles and the small fonts is too..err small. I've made it bigger but the main font is still small. A couple of times, I had a hard time seeing the code.

It isn't all that bad as it's still great for use as a tablet in bed before you sleep. As a tablet, it's also much better if you like coloring games for adults or drawing. My tablet comes with a stylus pen. Maybe, one day, I'll get myself a Microsoft Surface Pro. So that I can use it for dabbling with coding and drawing.

I still prefer a 2 in 1 tablet PC with a detachable keyboard but with better specs. Especially, if it also has the latest gaming GPU and CPU. Currently, no companies have that. I'm not sure why nobody interested in a gaming tablet PC form.



Microsoft Surface Go (Intel Pentium Gold, 4GB RAM, 64GB)

Actually, you can pretty much game on a Surface tablet. Intel HD already comes with the latest mobile graphics. Even my HP laptop comes with an AMD Radeon Vega 10. Although, you'll have to lower the resolution and only managed low to medium settings.

The point is that mobile GPU makes it possible to make your laptop as slim as possible. It's also supposed to be cooler. My laptop does get hot when gaming. I guess, if it's in a tablet form, you'll feel the heat in your palm when holding it.

Last year, I opened up my HP laptop to see if I can upgrade its ram from 8GB. Turn out, it got two slots. But, what surprised me most is how thin the motherboard was. No wonder, it was pretty light and slim. That's why a thin and powerful tablet PC won't be much of a stretch for companies like HP to create.

If I take out the ugly tough case for my tablet PC, it'll be much lighter. Weight is important because I sometimes hold my tablet with one hand when I'm in bed. That's why I don't fancy the 2 in 1 folding laptop. I also worry about getting the keyboard dirty if you put it facing down.

Another important thing for me to own a tablet PC with a detachable keyboard is that I'm a Youtuber and a blogger. My main equipment for taking videos, pictures, editing, and uploading to youtube is my ever-reliable iPad pro 10.5 inches. 

The iPad camera is good enough for taking videos. It's also powerful enough for video editing. A simple free video editor, iMovie helps too. I also use the Garageband app to create my background music. Mostly because I won't have a copyright problem.

If Microsoft wants to compete with Apple, they should take a look at the iPad and improve their surface products. A good FREE video editor likes the old Movie Maker, a Garageband equivalent, better front and back camera for better pictures and videos. Also, makes the price competitive.

I always wanted to try out the Surface tablet pc but, because of the price and most importantly those points like camera and lack of good free apps. There are many pc and android apps but those fckers either have too many ads or have watermarks. There, I said it.

I just remembered another point why I prefer tablets. It's because I can put it on a stand with a holder. You can't put a 2 in 1 folding laptop on a holder to take videos. That's why using an iPad or a tablet pc is much more useful for a Youtuber like me. You can then immediately edit and upload.

I made the video above around April 15, 2019. There's a website that shows a concept Samsung Dexbook. It doesn't exist anymore. Not sure why they delete it. It looks pretty cool and a lot of people were actually interested in it.

It's kinda like the Razer concept lap dock for their Razer phone. You can watch the video "Project Linda", here. That would have been my mobile computing wet dream. But, for some reason, they discontinue the phone and didn't create the lap dock.

The thing is, Samsung has Samsung Dex included with their latest phones. That means you can link your phone to a Tv or a portable monitor and use your phone as a desktop or laptop. It's not just plain mirroring your phone but with a full desktop UI or user interface.

Samsung Dexbook or a lap dock for the Galaxy phone will definitely enhance the phone. Yes, I already tried it with a portable monitor and a dex pad. But, guess what? It's kinda a hassle to set it up and to keep it after use.

I actually wish I have something like the HP X3 lap dock. It's not meant for the Samsung phone but it does work. Not really perfect but it's much better than the mess of a portable monitor and a dex pad. Unless you set it up to be permanent.

Samsung has instead created a laptop that will work with their phones. You can link to it via a USB C hub or cable and even charge your phone by putting it on top of the touchpad. Pretty nifty, I must admit. And, you also have the best of both worlds. A Microsoft Windows 10 laptop and Android OS.

The thing is, mobile computing needs a niche of its own. Android OS also has improved. I actually used to hate it. Because back then I loved iOS. It's an alternative to Windows or even Linux. It's now fast, smooth and there's already a plethora of games and apps.

So, why not have something like the Dexbook? You use it as a phone for taking pictures and videos and when you want to edit it on a bigger screen with mouse and keyboard support you just dock it into your lap dock. At the same time, charging it. You don't even need a Windows laptop or desktop anymore.

Now that's what I call pure mobile computing!

What Do I Want in Future New Nintendo Switch lite?

I love my Zacian and Zamazenta Nintendo Switch lite special edition. Love the cool pokemon pencil-like design at the back and the colored controller buttons and analog sticks on the front. Although, a little added design at the front would be nice.

I'm wondering why there's no other special edition coming out. Like maybe, a Mario design Nintendo Switch lite. How about Zelda or other popular game versions. The latest info is that 53 million Nintendo switch/lite have been sold worldwide. A special version might add more numbers to that.

The other day, when I post a picture of my switch lite on my Whatsapp group, an ex-colleague told me, his children been begging him to buy one for them. I have also been getting questions about the switch from my youtube channel comments section. Signs of the switch lite getting more popular?

The switch lite is already a great portable gaming console. But, what do I want in future iterations of the switch lite? Well, for one thing, I'll like to be able to dock it to the Tv. Yes, you can already do that with the Nintendo Switch, but I want the switch lite to have that capability too.

I'm not sure if I want a camera on my switch lite. I don't even use it on my 3DS XL. But, I do use the ability to take in-game screen pictures and videos. I wish, I could take longer videos though. Right now, it's just 30 secs and I'm not even sure how it works. I keep getting only a few secs of vids. Also, you can actually trim it before posting. Cool!

You can then share it on Twitter and Facebook. For now, you can't share on Youtube or Twitch. It would be nice to actually able to go to twitter and Facebook from my switch with a real app or browser. I wonder if ever we'll have apps available for the Nintendo Switch. Still waiting for Netflix, Spotify, VLC, Whatsapp, and other cool apps. C'mon it's 2020!

One thing for sure, if Nintendo wants the eShop to explode, they'll need to be smart like Apple or Google store. Selling ebooks, movies, apps, podcasts, and music. Make the Nintendo switch the best portable entertainment system on the planet!

Actually, I've been asking for this since I got my Nintendo Switch almost 3 years ago. We still don't have a way to watch movies or listen to music offline. Yes, you can already do that with the Youtube app. There are actually some good channels I followed that I can watch movies and listen to music. But what if you're outside without wifi or when you want to save data?

If you're willing to hack your system, you can install Linux, android, and even windows on it. Then you can do all that. But, I'm not interested in the possibility of bricking my switch. Unless, I'm getting one for free. I'll love just to try it out.

Let me see, what other extra features or ability do I want for the switch lite? An upgrade of the CPU and GPU might be a possibility with portable technology getting better. A 5G version? A longer battery life? A 6-6.5 inch touchscreen? I actually like the brightness and sharpness of the 5.5-inch screen. Seems a little better than the original 7-inch switch.

One important thing that Nintendo really needs to do is redesign the switch lite or Nintendo Switch control to be a little more ergonomic. Especially with a better grip. My hands will cramp when playing some intense game and it actually hurts my fingers and wrist.

I guess that's about all, for now, what I want in the future Nintendo Switch lite. To be clear, I already love the switch lite as it is. The Nintendo eShop can be easily improved as it's not anything physical. They might have to work it out with other entertainment companies.

I'm guessing Nintendo is not thinking of upgrading their system right now because if it's not broken why fix it? Although, sleeping on the job might cause you...err..your job. So, as a company, they should keep updating and improving the switch.

Not that they need my advice. They literally jump from the 3ds or Wii to the Nintendo Switch. A smart gamble that actually reaps success. And, most people, including me didn't even think much of it at first. Somebody, needs a raise over there. If they haven't got it!

When I ordered the Nintendo Switch lite, I was a little impatient for it to be delivered to me. It's because I've been wanting to try some triple AAA games on it. I was wondering, if it will be able to play and how it'll look like on a screen smaller then the original 6.2-inch switch.

You can read the switch lite detail specs here on Wikipedia. I was browsing through the eShop when I saw that Metro 2033 Redux is on a deal. Metro Last Light was also available but I decided to get Redux first. Frankly, I thought it was Exodus. Which is the latest?

This is what happens when you have a franchise with the same name and people get confused which is which. My nephew was the one telling me that Exodus was the latest. But, the news is that the dev is not thinking of bringing the game to the Switch. Which is a bummer?

Imagine playing these console-level games on the Switch or the Switch lite while sitting on the bus, trains, or at the sidewalk? People will think you're just playing some silly kids' games but it's Metro Exodus. I'm still wondering why is Call of Duty or my favorite Dirt racing franchise not available for the switch yet. Heck, why not Gears of War?

I know GOW belongs to Xbox but why the hell not? At least they can resell the first iteration of the game to Nintendo fans. I'm pretty sure some have never played them. I have played them, I want the game to be on it. That will be way cool. Frankly, there are many popular Pc and console games still not available for the Switch.

One other reason, I decided to buy a Switch lite is because Nintendo didn't come out with a new Pro version of the switch. I would love a pro version with at least 1TB of internal storage, a better controller design, a better 7-inch screen, lighter in weight, and of course more powerful CPU and GPU. They'll need a bigger battery to accommodate all that power though.

There you go. The most powerful portable gaming console in the world!

I have a Samsung Note 10+ which I use for gaming, entertainment, and social media. But, there are also dedicated gaming phone available like the ZTE Nubia Red Magic 3 with Camo back design. It actually looks pretty cool.

I also like the specs which are of course most important. Especially for gaming. The 6.65-inch phone has a pretty good screen size. While mine is 6.8 inches. It has the same 256gb storage and 12gb ram with a dual sim slot. The more ram the better!

The ZTE Nubia Red Magic 3 is much cheaper than my Note 10+ though. And, actually has a 48MP camera. Which is way more than mine? But, I love the S Pen and being able to use Samsung Dex and turn my phone into a computer. I'm not sure if you can mirror the ZTE to the PC.

I don't usually game that long on my phone. But, so far, I had no experience of any lag or it being too hot. The Red Magic 3 said to have an extreme cooling system. And you can charge it pretty fast. It doesn't matter cause my phone can fast charge too.

It uses Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 and Adreno 640 GPU which is pretty good. I'll say on par with my phone. I'll say, right now, price is all that matters. And, if you're looking for a gaming phone that has pretty good specs but with lower price, this will fit just nice.

One thing though, I wish all these gaming phones come with a gamepad bundle. It's no fun playing shooter games with just touch control. At least triggers or something. Of course, nowadays, there is plenty of gamepad and triggers available.

I'm surprised Samsung hadn't come out with their own gaming phone. Although the latest S20 series phone with 5G is touted as the best gaming and entertainment system. ZTE actually has started advertising its own 5G phone, so let's just wait and see.
