I'm already used to pairing my phone to my laptop and PC so, it's great that Samsung has made it easier and faster to connect. You can even add your favorite phone app to your pc for quick access. Although, I seldom do that. The only app I'm using is Whatsapp.

Replying to Whatsapp messages with the keyboard or even making a video call to your family or friend with the laptop camera is becoming common nowadays. That's why I'm surprised that only Samsung is going all out to make that experience better.

Heck, some of the latest laptops today don't even have a camera. When people need it especially during the pandemic. I'm actually interested to check out how good the latest intel chips are. I'm not really into Windows 10 tablet pc. The reason, I'm looking at them now is because I'm thinking of installing Linux ubuntu over the Windows 10 OS. I already have an Intel Celeron N4200 laptop with the original 4GB of Ram which I immediately upgrade to 8GB.

I can tell you, even with 8GB of ram, the laptop still stutters once in a while. It can run the Diablo II though. I'm actually surprised that they're still selling a Windows 10 tablet with such specs. I guess, the low price is pretty tempting. That's why I thought, I'll get one and try installing Linux on it.

I don't know why a Linux laptop, pc, or tablet is not more commonly sold in this day and age. As a casual Linux user, I find it great for tinkering and learning. Even if you're not interested in tinkering, it's still good enough for your daily usage.

That's why my next project is to try to install Ubuntu on these kinds of Windows 10 tablet pc. They're pretty cheap and even with low-end specs, they're still great for simple tasks like checking emails, watching youtube, and maybe playing some old games.

I've owned a Windows 10 tablet a couple of years back, but I've kinda given it away. Now, I'm interested to try out Linux again on these kinds of tablets pc. I don't want just another Linux laptop, but being able to use it in both tablet and laptop form will be an added plus.

Frankly, I'm not even sure if I can install Linux on the tablet pc. I have an old ubuntu iso cd that I've used on several laptops decades ago. I'm planning to try to use it again to install ubuntu. If this doesn't work, I'll just use it with the original Windows 10.

I can now install WSL aka Windows Subsystem for Linux on Windows 10. So, in a way, I can still play with the Linux terminal. I already have my gaming PC and AMD Ryzen 7 HP laptop for my main work and usage. That's why I don't mind the low-end specs of the tablet pc. 

I don't want to fck-up my main computer and laptop. If you're wondering. That's another reason, why I decided to get a cheap tablet pc. Sometimes, I'll be installing and deleting some programs and it'll also eat up my main pc storage space. This way, I don't have to worry if anything happens.

Can't wait for my Windows 10 tablet Pc to arrive!

I've been testing out my new T800 SmartWatch and I'm pretty impressed. Although it's a cheap watch, I like the Whatsapp notifications feature. Which I actually bought it for. I can also make calls directly from the watch itself. And, the sound is actually not that bad.

The reason I bought a smartwatch is that I keep missing out on messages and calls. With a SmartWatch, any message or calls will vibrate the watch on my hands. For this watch, I can't read the whole message or give a quick reply. Which is kinda a bummer.

I'm not a fitness or health freak. So, I don't really care for those sensors. Although, I like the ability to measure my high blood pressure. I was told I was borderline, so I'm keeping an eye on it. I was surprised the sensor actually works.

That means I don't really have to buy an expensive SmartWatch to get updates on my health. I'm also surprised how long the battery could last. Of course, it depends on your usage. So far, the battery is still full even after a couple of days. Frankly, I thought they'll only last half a day.

I really like the idea of a smartwatch that's also your phone. But, the design really has to be much cooler. It shouldn't look too bulky, have nice bands and the screen has to be 'acceptable'. Not too small or too big either. 

I can't make video calls with my current smartwatch but that might be more common in the future. The difference between the smartwatch and the err..smartphone is that you wear your smartwatch on your wrist. It's more easily accessible than your phone.

A smartwatch is great for doing a simple and quick task like checking your notifications, reading and replying to short messages, and even making or answering calls. If you have video calls capability with Whatsapp, it'll be more convenient.

Another reason that I wasn't into the smartwatch at first is the pricing. I was interested in the Apple watch but it's too damn expensive.

Apple Finally Makes My Dream iPad Pro in 2021!

Well, I've been hoping for Apple to bring the M1 chip to the iPad products and they finally did. Last year, when they announce the new M1 chip for their new laptop, I was pretty impressed. But, as a Youtuber who uses an iPad to record, edit and upload my videos, I was hoping it'll also be available for the iPad. Finally!

Read up my thoughts on the M1 Chip here. I also post about the iPad Mini here. But, there weren't any new updates for it today. An M1 Chip on an iPad Mini would make it the ultimate 7-inch portable mini laptop. At least, it's much smaller and portable than a 12.9 inch iPad. Especially, if you're gonna use it for taking videos and pictures on the go.



2020 Apple iPad Pro (12.9-inch, Wi-Fi, 128GB) - Silver (4th Generation)

I used to use my iPhone to take videos for my Youtube channel. But, because of the stupid 'notch', I have switched to now a Samsung Note 10+. But, my first choice for taking videos is with my iPad pro 10.5 inches. First, the camera is not bad, and second, I love using the iMovie and Garage Band apps!

The latest iPad pro 12.9 inches with the M1 chip would definitely be my ultimate video-making device. And, if they have the new iPad mini with the M1 chip, would be my ultimate, on the go, portable gaming, and entertainment device.

The iPad Pro is now also finally compatible with the latest console controller. Yes, now you can use the PS5 or Xbox X series controller to play games on your iPad. Of course, the games need to have controller support in the first place. 

It was only over two years+ ago that I bought the SteelSeries Nimbus controller to play games on my iPad. You can watch and read up on my unboxing here. The controller is pretty good. But, not many games have controller support back then. There weren't many good racing, fighting, or RPG games.

Thinking back, it took Apple this long to finally make everything compatible with popular products like the Xbox and Playstation controller. Of course, Steve Jobs is always thinking of fighting against the flow. Yes, most of the products are not really that revolutionary like the mouse or the iPhones. But, he makes people think beyond the simple mouse. Beyond the simple computer. He literally makes electronic device becomes mainstream and more popular.

Whatever. I'm really hoping they put the M1 Chip into a new full touchscreen iPad mini. Be it 7 or 8 inches. Add a smart or magic Apple keyboard and voila! A cool powerful mini laptop. I hope they also add more stuff for me to use in the iMovie app. 

I've been using the FREE iMovie app to edit my youtube videos for so long, that's part of the reason, I'm using an iPad or an iPhone. If they FFS, gave the iPhone a full screen without the notch, I might even give up my Samsung phone and buy the iPhone.

Imagine using the foldable iPhone like err.. phone and then open it up and use it as an iPad! Like I've said, as a Youtuber, this would be useful. I like taking videos and pictures on my phone. And, then open it up to edit with the iMovie app. I can even use my own music created with Garage Band as background music. One can only dreamzzz...

I've been thinking of getting the Apple Watch since the first day they announce it. One thing that stops me is the price. And, the second is, it kinda looks ugly. I saw a guy wear it once and I'm like, it looks like a lady watch.

The ironic thing is that I just bought a cheap brand SmartWatch that looks exactly like the Apple Watch. When I say cheap, it cost me only around $25 bucks. Even then, it's because they're having an offer and I also use some redeeming coins aka voucher.

Since it's a cheap SmartWatch, I didn't expect much from it. I didn't expect the sensor to works or be able to do anything similar to an Apple watch. Boy, was I surprised? I did have a little hard time setting it all up at first. I couldn't get the notifications to work.

When I'm out and about, sometimes, I'll have miss calls and messages. As I've said before, I'm practically deaf in my left ear. I'll only know that I have miss calls when I decided to check my phone. That's why, only now that I realized how having a smartwatch could be useful to me.

I asked her later if she can receive and make calls from the watch. She said yes, and she can even reply to messages. My new Smartwatch will only show me notifications. It won't show anything more than 2 lines. But, at least I'll know as my watch will vibrate.

Frankly, I thought the smartwatch is only used by the health freak or the exercise nuts. Most apps you'll find are on fitness and health. I do find the heart rate sensor useful as I was told (years ago), that I was borderline high blood pressure. I tried it out yesterday and I'm around 70-80 BPM.

If they had the smartwatch back when I was in the military, all these fitness apps would have been useful to me. Nowadays, my left knee hurts and I don't do any kind of exercise anymore. I also had a slipped disc and my therapist even advice me against doing any situps.

I'm still new to the smartwatch world and the T800 is my first. So far, even with the cheap smartwatch, I'm pretty impressed with it. But, of course, it could be better. I wish I could read the whole WhatsApp message and even reply. So far, I've received Twitter and Instagram notifications.

I've tried calling my sis and it works well enough. She could hear me clearly and I can too. There's a speaker and mic at the side of the smartwatch. I tried playing music but you need to open your music player on the phone first before able to control it via the watch. The speaker isn't that bad.

I can also take pictures via the app on my watch. Since yesterday, the battery only down a quarter. I didn't expect the battery to last that long. I think playing music will eat the battery though. I wish there were some mini-games. I can see myself using the smartwatch on a daily basis. 

As a whole, I'm pretty satisfied. Not bad for a $25 smartwatch!

Drone technology has grown so far that it's even used in the latest Mars mission. It's not just for people using it to take videos of their outdoor adventures but for deliveries of shoppings and medicines. Heck, drone taxis are coming too. No more being stuck in street jams!

I'm pretty sure soon, there'll be a military drone with lasers or machine guns attached to it. But, they're not just coming to the skies, there's gonna be robot war dogs too. They'll hunt down enemies, attacked military camps, or even used suicide bombs. No, this is not the movie anymore. These technologies are here, now!

Don't mind me. I used to be in the military. The army is always thinking about how to kill other humans as easily and fast as possible. Besides, it'll be way cooler. Robots are more efficient and you don't have to sacrifice your own guy's life unnecessarily.

Anyway, back to civilians usage. Looks like the latest DJI AIR 2S is pretty popular right now. I would love a camo version though. I can see professional videographers using it for their projects. Youtuber and bloggers like me would love this.

I'm actually, kinda looking for a pouch. But, a little bigger and slimmer. The video I make of the men's waist multipurpose nylon pouch (green) belongs to my nephew. He wanted to use it for his handphones and other loose items he carries around traveling to and fro to work.

My nephew now is doing his 2-year service with the police. My other nephew is also doing his national service but in the military. I did my service in the military too. It was supposed to be 2 years full-time and another 10 years or so but it was cut to only 7. Lucky me. :p

I think, like other young boys, we were always attracted to the military. Watching military movie or show. Playing army and enemy with our friends. Now, I think about it, might be the government (military) propaganda so that we'll be interested to join and go to war to fight over nothing.

Anyway, that's probably why we like all these military design accessories. Although, there are some things that I wish could have been available during my time. Like the G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400. Yeah, I have it now, but it doesn't exist back then.

You can check out my unboxing video of the watch here. These kinds of watches would have been useful during my military days. It would be funny though if you wear it in a war. Like, if you die, your enemy would be fighting over, who'll get it.

I'm glad, I'm done and over with the Army. But, like I said, nowadays there are many cool accessories and military-esque designs that we civilians can use for our everyday life. I've bought a camo and black ops tactical sling bag that I used for my gaming and electronic devices.

I'm already thinking of getting a pouch that could fit my 7-8 inch Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. My Powkiddy X18, and maybe a power bank. Although, I just bought a new urban backpack that could carry all that. This time, it doesn't have anything to do with the military.

I'm beginning to like this new urban design backpack. I thought it was a little too rectangular before. I guess, nowadays, it's hip to be rectangular? At least, it doesn't look too bulky. Great for modern usage with all our electronic devices like laptops, iPads, and Nintendo switch.

I'm surprised that Apple not in the backpack market. Their brand is pretty popular. I'm pretty sure, there's a market for that. Those that use Apple laptops, iPads, iPhones, and even iWatch. They can make one that charges your electronic devices while they're in your bag.

In any case, I'm always on the lookout for nice design bags and pouches.

Controlling my STS-PI RASPBERRY PI ROBOT WITH POWKIDDY X18!

I've talked about it a couple of blog posts ago. I wanted to try if I can control my STS-Pi, Raspberry pi robot with the Powkiddy X18 integrated controller. Well, I finally decided to dust off my R3 and try to make it happen. Also means, I have to research again some of the things that I've forgotten.

First thing, both of my 16GB MicroSD cards with Recallbox and Raspbian OS wouldn't work anymore. I haven't played with them for a while and I'm not sure why it won't work anymore. I end up had to re-format one of the cards that have Kano OS on it.

I love Kano OS. Even though, they're actually for kids to learn about computers and coding. I decided to re-download and install the old version of Raspbian-stretch because I need to use the raspi-config to turn on my raspberry pi camera.

I'm using the same Raspberry Pi 3 that I've used to learn to make everything works. I didn't want the hassle of having to learn anything new, now. If I can get all the things that used to work and just try to use the Powkiddy X18, remap buttons, I'll then be able to control my sts-pi robot with the integrated controller. Which is my main aim.

At first, I installed the Pimoroni software via the terminal. I've tried the web control but when I tried to show it on my video, it suddenly won't work anymore. So, I just went straight to using SCRATCH. Using scratch to control my sts-pi motor is much easier.

You can visit this site for more info on the sts-pi robot. Especially, if you have the Explorer Hat. For control using SCRATCH, visit this blog. Download the link for the scratch template and also add the scratch code into the template. This way, you can control the motor and also take pictures at the same time. Pretty nifty.

I thought the Powkiddy X18 remap buttons would straightaway work by just putting it to the scratch code. I also tried using the on-screen keyboard but, if you open the remap button, the keyboard will go away. I then discovered I can just use the remap button when I select the on-screen mouse available with the Raspbian OS. 

When you use the on-screen mouse, they will also show the arrow keys and several other useful keyboard keys at the bottom of the screen. I tried putting the remap buttons on those keys and it finally works. So, now, I can control the motors with the integrated controller. Voila!

Lol. The Powkiddy X18 is really becoming my jack of all trades device. That's why I really like it. If I had known, it's not just for Android or retro gaming, I might have bought it much earlier. But, then, maybe I wasn't ready then.

When you're my age, you suddenly realized things seem to be happening for a reason and just at the right time. I noticed it when my father died a couple of months before the virus was reported. He has diabetes and it would be pretty hard to see him during or if he dies during the pandemic.

Also, I actually got fired before the pandemic too. So, I have really no problem staying at home throughout the earlier days. That's why I took the opportunity to blog and do youtube videos. Definitely, I want to thanks those that bought stuff via my Amazon links as it helps.

I love tech and games and pandemic or no, it's what I love to do!

Play Command Line linux games with Powkiddy X18 controller

Like I've said before, one of the reasons I like the Powdiddy X18 or GPD XD Plus is because you can install the Termux app on it. Termux is a Linux terminal app for Android devices. It's not a full Linux O.S. but in spite of that, you can do quite a lot with it.

I'm no Linux expert but if you have used Linux distros, you basically know what it's all about. Now, you can already use WSL aka Windows Subsystem for Linux on a Microsoft Windows 10 pc. Termux is like the WSL of Android devices. In fact, with Andronix, I can even install Ubuntu 20 on my Powkiddy X18. Cool!

As with any Linux terminal, you can install stuff. Of course, I'm interested in games. So, I like to check out games that can be played on the terminal. One of the few games I like is ninvaders and nsnake. Which you can install by typing sudo apt install ninvaders or nsnake.

Once, installed, you can play by typing the name of the game on the terminal. Pretty nifty. The games are pretty basic and there's no music or sound effect. But, it's still fun to play. Especially, now that I found out, I can play with the integrated controller of the Powkiddy X18.

I prefer to install Ubuntu 20 and use it instead of Termux because I wanted the latest python 3. Which is also included. So, how cool is that to be able to code and mess around with Python on a portable gaming device such as the X18 and XD Plus?

In any case, I'm actually surprised that I can play this old command-line Linux game with a controller. The stupid thing is that not all Android games can be played with a controller. That's why I like playing retro games. They come with controller support and best of all you can play them offline without ads.

I really like the portability of these devices that also allows me to use them like a computer any time and anywhere. Yes, there are laptops but to me, the smaller they are, the better. Of course, best of all for gamers is that they also come with an integrated keyboard or controller.

For small devices like this, I think an Android O.S. is good enough. They don't need lots of power like Microsoft Windows. Of course, the more powerful the CPU and GPU the better. Right now, you'll have a problem playing PUBG or COD mobile on the powkiddy X18.

For average users, Android is already good enough. You can surf the net, watch youtube, check emails, listen to music, and much more. And, you can even use it for school or work. Why do you need an expensive high-end Windows 10 laptop for all that?

For the budget-conscious, Android devices fit theirs needs. Unless, of course, if you want to play the latest triple-A games. You can't compare simple command-line Linux games to games like Cyberpunk 2077. But, I'll still love, if I can play that game on the go on a portable game device.

Maybe, I can play PC games by streaming them to my Powkiddy X18 or the GPD XD Plus. But, I prefer if I can install it directly to the portable game console, like the Nintendo Switch. Well, I can already play Crysis on it. Although, I still can't use it as a normal PC, yet.

One thing for sure, I'm going to look out for more fun Linux stuff to do on my Powkiddy X18 after this post.
