It has been a couple of weeks and only now, able to post and talk about the latest Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 mobile phone. I expected to enjoy using the phone. At first, I was only interested in the Z Fold series. But, why not try the Z Flip5?

When folded, it's a little thick but, I love using the bigger cover screen. I can glance at the notifications and even reply to my WhatsApp messages. My favorite widgets were the calendar, weather, alarms, and WhatsApp. There are also maps, Netflix, and YouTube apps.

I can't check out my FB, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and other social media on the cover screen. Instead, having to unfold the phone. Although, the cover screen is a little small and squarish. But, I like using the phone in that form.

When using WhatsApp, the keyboard takes up almost half of the space. Slide up to full mode or tap the person's image. A little hassle but I don't mind. Good when you want to quickly reply without unfolding the Zflip 5. People always ask me when I'm using it while folded.

You don't have to unfold the phone to use it. Yes, it's just like a laptop. Open half-way and it'll automatically let you use the bottom half like a laptop touchpad. Double-fingers to scroll through website pages. Use the cursor to click on links etc. Just like a mini laptop!

If you like playing retro games on your mobile phone, then playing on a Z Flip5 is like playing on a Gameboy Advance SP. Check out my video demo playing retro games on the Z Flip5. I also like the ability to take selfies or videos as you don't need to bring along a stand.

You can put your Z Flip5 any way you like and the screen will rotate. Put it on your table and use it like a clock or a calendar. All of these without having to unfold the phone. By the way, tap to use the voice message. Which is much easier!

One of my colleagues at work thought the Z Flip5 was a portable music player. I opened it up to show him it was a phone. My mom is also interested in getting one. She didn't care for it when I showed her the first time. But, after a while, she got intrigued by how small it was when folded. Lol.

Putting on a case will make it more bulky. Without casing, it's slippery. It's quite light and will make you keep checking your pocket if the phone is still there. The phone is also pretty slim. Obviously, or it will be too bulky when closed. 

When it's folded as someone noted, it's flat and with the case, you won't see any spaces in between. The power button is also a fingerprint sensor. Reminds me of my old obsolete Razer phone. The volume control is on the right. When folded you can use the main front camera for selfies.

You can also do WhatsApp video calls folded. Pretty nifty. All possible because of the bigger cover screen. Someone could build a similar form, a squarish phone. Yes, bigger is good. But, sometimes, you just want something smaller. Yes, no?

I've been thinking of getting the Apple Watch since the first day they announce it. One thing that stops me is the price. And, the second is, it kinda looks ugly. I saw a guy wear it once and I'm like, it looks like a lady watch.

The ironic thing is that I just bought a cheap brand SmartWatch that looks exactly like the Apple Watch. When I say cheap, it cost me only around $25 bucks. Even then, it's because they're having an offer and I also use some redeeming coins aka voucher.

Since it's a cheap SmartWatch, I didn't expect much from it. I didn't expect the sensor to works or be able to do anything similar to an Apple watch. Boy, was I surprised? I did have a little hard time setting it all up at first. I couldn't get the notifications to work.

When I'm out and about, sometimes, I'll have miss calls and messages. As I've said before, I'm practically deaf in my left ear. I'll only know that I have miss calls when I decided to check my phone. That's why, only now that I realized how having a smartwatch could be useful to me.

Last year, my niece bought an Apple Watch Series 6. I did an unboxing video from inside the car. We were waiting to pick up my mom after work. You can watch it here. It looks pretty small and seems easy to connect to my niece's iPhone. 

I asked her later if she can receive and make calls from the watch. She said yes, and she can even reply to messages. My new Smartwatch will only show me notifications. It won't show anything more than 2 lines. But, at least I'll know as my watch will vibrate.

Frankly, I thought the smartwatch is only used by the health freak or the exercise nuts. Most apps you'll find are on fitness and health. I do find the heart rate sensor useful as I was told (years ago), that I was borderline high blood pressure. I tried it out yesterday and I'm around 70-80 BPM.

If they had the smartwatch back when I was in the military, all these fitness apps would have been useful to me. Nowadays, my left knee hurts and I don't do any kind of exercise anymore. I also had a slipped disc and my therapist even advice me against doing any situps.

I'm still new to the smartwatch world and the T800 is my first. So far, even with the cheap smartwatch, I'm pretty impressed with it. But, of course, it could be better. I wish I could read the whole WhatsApp message and even reply. So far, I've received Twitter and Instagram notifications.

I've tried calling my sis and it works well enough. She could hear me clearly and I can too. There's a speaker and mic at the side of the smartwatch. I tried playing music but you need to open your music player on the phone first before able to control it via the watch. The speaker isn't that bad.

I can also take pictures via the app on my watch. Since yesterday, the battery only down a quarter. I didn't expect the battery to last that long. I think playing music will eat the battery though. I wish there were some mini-games. I can see myself using the smartwatch on a daily basis. 

As a whole, I'm pretty satisfied. Not bad for a $25 smartwatch!

With all the hurrah's of W7 on sale, finally. It got me to watch the hands-on again. I didn't really like it at first glance. But, after watching this video, I think it's kinda cool. Although, I'm still bias towards the Iphone. He he.

That's what got me thinking. I think, all this phones is great. For, the consumer that is. There's the iphone for the Apple fans, android for google fans, palm pre for err ..palm fans and of course now W7 for Microsoft fans!

I would love to get my hands on some of these phones simply because I love new tech stuff. But, the reason I'm bias towards the Iphone is no, not because of Steve jobs but I think, for me, it's because of the games that I can easily access via iTunes. And, not just the games but all the apps. Such, as the Facebook app.

The main thing I use my phone for is to check my Fb for updates or sometime, even to upload snapshots. I'm always checking my emails and like to read some news online. If there's wifi then I'll get to watch Youtube on the go. Too bad I still can't play Fb games on my Iphone or even on the other so-called smartphones. But, I'll live.

Apple, has done good integrating and revamping iTunes. I used to love downloading video podcast on my iPods. It's well organized in one browser and easy to purchased your games. In my country, I can't still buy music or movies but I make do by buying it somewhere else and download it to my Iphone.

I think that's the problem with Rims blackberry or the Android stores. Microsoft, had better improves their online store too. It's what I think that will really make the difference. If more dev submit their apps to Microsoft and they make it easy for the consumer to browse and make their purchase online then, it's half the battle won.

Microsoft, already have a huge fans following worldwide. Office, xbox live, Fb, tweeter etc. all these basic apps that people use almost on a daily basis will help w7 to succeed. But, I still think Apple fans will still like their Iphone better and so do the Android fans too. Hope, that in spite off all these fragmented groups, we'll all get to live peacefully together and of course, let me call my w7-using mom on my iphone. Ha ha!

P.S. update: Just read about steam successful business approach. Just, like what I've been talking about. Rims, Google and Microsoft should learn from it!
