Controlling my STS-PI RASPBERRY PI ROBOT WITH POWKIDDY X18! #powkiddyx18 #raspberrypirobotcar

Hey guys,

Check it out!

A couple of blog posts ago, I wanted to try if I could control my STS-Pi, a Raspberry Pi robot with the Powkiddy X18 integrated controller. I decided to dust off my R3 and make it happen. I have to research some of the things that I've forgotten.

My 16GB MicroSD cards with Recallbox and Raspbian OS wouldn't work. I haven't played with them for a while and I'm not sure why they won't work anymore. I had to re-format one of the cards that has a Kano OS.

I love Kano OS. It's actually for kids to learn about computers and coding. I decided to re-download and install the old version of Raspbian-stretch because I need to use the Raspi-config to turn on my Raspberry Pi camera.

I'm using the same Raspberry Pi 3 that used to learn to make everything work. I didn't want the hassle of having to learn anything new now. If I can get the things that used to work and just try to use the Powkiddy X18 remap buttons, I'll then be able to control my sts-pi robot with the integrated controller.

I installed the Pimoroni software via the terminal. The web control didn't work when I tried to show it on my video, it suddenly stopped working. So, I just went straight to using SCRATCH. Using scratch to control my sts-pi motor is much easier.

Visit this site for more info on the STS-PI robot if you also have the Explorer Hat. For control using SCRATCH, go to this blog. Download the link for the scratch template and add the scratch code to the template. This way, you can control the motor and also take pictures at the same time. Pretty nifty.

Powkiddy X18 remap buttons work by just putting it to the scratch code. I also tried using the on-screen keyboard but, if you open the remap button, the keyboard will go away. I discovered that I can just use the remap button when I select the on-screen mouse available with the Raspbian OS.

When you use the on-screen mouse, the arrow keys and several other useful keyboard keys are at the bottom of the screen. I tried putting the remap buttons on those keys and it finally works. So, now, I can control the motors with the integrated controller. Voila!

The Powkiddy X18 is really becoming my jack-of-all-trades device. I really like it. If I had known, it was not just for Android or retro gaming, I might have bought it much earlier. Maybe I wasn't ready for it.

When you're my age, you suddenly realize things seem to be happening for a reason and at the right time. I noticed it when my father died a couple of months before the virus was reported. He has diabetes and it would be pretty hard to see him during or if he dies during the pandemic.

I got fired from my job before the pandemic. No problem staying at home throughout the earlier days. I took the opportunity to blog and do YouTube videos. I want to thank those who bought stuff via my Amazon links as it helps.

I love tech and games!

Watch my 200+ youtube videos on kodi - Recalbox installation in pics

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Project Board Development Board Linux Mini PC BCM2837 quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 with Rainbow Case

Hey guys,

Raspberry pi 3 is such a good product. Because, of it's small size board and cheap price, you can basically do anything with it. It's original intent was for students to learn about computers and programming.

The latest pi 3 include improvements to the original raspberry pi with better processor, added bluetooth and hdmi. Although, I'll wish for it to at least have 2gb of ram. For more readup on Raspberry pi history, you can visit the wiki page here.

Yesterday, I spend the whole night downloading and installing Recalbox OS on my other 16gb microsd card that I had used to install Raspbian. Which I bought as a package include with keyboard, mouse and a beginners guide book.

I'm thinking of buying more Raspberry pi 3. If only they had exist during my school days. Personal computers wasn't even around back then!

Check out this Raspberry pi 3 and arduino expansion kit board!

The first computer that I've actually touch and played around with was during a military show. It was just like in the matrix. They'll ask you questions and you key in your answer. I was literally hogging the machine. A guy, behind me was impatiently making noise waiting for his turn. Lol!

Anyway, if you have kodi installed on your pc or raspberry pi, feel free to visit my channel. Make sure you download the youtube plugins. Open it up and search my channel by typing 'freaker126'. All my 200+ videos will show up!

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Just got my Raspberry Pi 3 Starter kit today!

Raspberry Pi 3 Starter Kit [official Raspberry] (stock limited!)

I was pretty excited and immediately did the unboxing video and posted it on my youtube channel. Guess, what I'm using to type and post this article?

Yup, I'm actually using my Raspberry pi 3!

The starter kit come complete with a nice slim white colour keyboard which I'm using to type right now. A little tough to type on but for basic use, it'll do. It's not Bluetooth, so, I'm basically sitting legs folded and staring right in front of my 49" TV. :p

It also came with a mouse, power supply and of course with the latest raspberry pi 3. Which is already inside the official case. All the accessories are printed with Raspberry pi logo. For newbie like me, it's cool that the package also came with a book called, "Adventures in Raspberry Pi (second edition)".

Adventures in Raspberry Pi

When I first insert the sd card, it kinda hang on me. I was wondering, if I had inserted the card wrongly. But, I went to https://www.raspberrypi.org/ website and download the Raspbian linux os. Read up on their help section and just copy and paste the downloaded files version to the sd card.

Then, I inserted back the sd card to the Raspberry pi and on the power. Voila!

It immediately start installing and the rest is history. The Raspbian OS, is really simple and nice. Actually, it's not the first time that I'm using linux. I have downloaded and install most version of linux before and played around with it. Linux is pretty interesting to play with.

I'm planning to use the Raspberry pi as an entertainment setup for my Philip TV as, the android box that came with it suxx. Now, I can watch youtube by using Raspberry Pi instead of my xbox one. And, also use it to surf the net and maybe some light work on it.

The raspberry pi 3 being small and light which also consume less power is an advantage for using with your Tv entertainment setup. There're already some cool simple games that you can play on it. But, I might want to install some retro games on it later on.

You can also find and download lots of apps, software and linux games totally Free. Since, linux been around a long time, there are some games like tux racer, text rpg or clone games like pacman and galaga!

In all, I'm pretty happy with this package. Easy to setup and ready to go!

If you're new to Raspberry pi or linux and also interested in learning programming then this package is for you.
