The TikTok Ban: Implications for Younger Americans and Society #tiktok #tiktokban

The TikTok Ban: Implications for Younger Americans and Society

The recent decision by the U.S. government to consider banning TikTok has sparked significant debate, particularly regarding its impact on younger generations. There are over a billion users worldwide, especially among Gen Z and Millennials. This article explores the potential implications of such a ban, including its economic, social, and psychological effects, and examines the broader question: Is banning TikTok the right move?

A Cultural Mainstay: Why TikTok Matters

TikTok has revolutionized social media with its algorithm-driven content, short-form videos, and global reach. Popular categories include dance challenges, comedy skits, educational content, and trend-driven videos. It has also become a platform for activism and expression, giving younger users a voice on global issues.

Economic Implications for Creators

TikTok has created a thriving ecosystem where millions of users earn a living by producing content. Influencers, marketers, and small business owners rely heavily on TikTok to generate income through brand partnerships, product promotions, and creative content.

A ban could leave these creators scrambling for alternatives, disrupting their livelihoods. Rival platforms like Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat Spotlight may absorb some of this talent, but transitioning to a new platform often means rebuilding an audience from scratch.

Social and Psychological Impact on Youth

Younger users view TikTok as more than an app; it’s a social hub. A sudden ban could lead to feelings of loss, frustration, and even rebellion against perceived governmental overreach. Psychologists warn that such disruptions might affect mental health, particularly for those who rely on TikTok for community and self-expression.

Physically, TikTok’s highly engaging format has been criticized for promoting sedentary behavior, though it also encourages movement through dance challenges. A ban may reduce screen time but leave a void in social connectivity.

Public Opinion: Anger or Acceptance?

The response to a TikTok ban is divided. While some support the government’s concerns about data security and foreign influence, many users view the ban as an overreaction. Among young Americans, anger and disbelief are prevalent sentiments. However, organized rebellion seems unlikely; instead, users might shift their attention to alternative platforms.

Alternatives to TikTok

Several apps could fill the void left by TikTok:

- Instagram Reels: Offers similar short-form video content with a built-in audience.

- YouTube Shorts: Appeals to creators seeking monetization opportunities.

- Snapchat Spotlight: Focuses on user-generated content and rewards creators.

Is TikTok Truly a Threat?

Critics of TikTok argue that its ties to China’s ByteDance pose national security risks, with concerns about data privacy and potential manipulation. Advocates counter that these risks are overblown and that similar issues exist with U.S.-based tech giants.

Top Books About TikTok’s Success

(All links will open up in a new tab.)

For those interested in understanding TikTok’s rise and emulating its success, these books come highly recommended:

1. "TikTok Boom: China’s Dynamite App and the Race to Go Viral" by Chris Stokel-Walker – A deep dive into TikTok’s global impact.

2. "Attention Factory: The Story of TikTok and China’s ByteDance" by Matthew Brennan – Explores the strategies behind TikTok’s success.

3. "Influencer: Building Your Personal Brand in the Age of Social Media" by Brittany Hennessy – Offers practical advice for aspiring influencers.

Conclusion: A Generational Turning Point?

The potential ban on TikTok represents a pivotal moment for the younger generation, raising questions about freedom, security, and the role of government in regulating technology. While the platform has flaws, it is a critical outlet for creativity and connection. As the debate continues, one thing is clear: the ripple effects of a TikTok ban will be felt far beyond the app itself.

my new apple watch ultra 49mm Alpine loop unboxing

Apple Watch Ultra [GPS + Cellular 49mm] Smart Watch w/Rugged Titanium Case & Green Alpine Loop Medium. Fitness Tracker, Precision GPS, Action Button, Extra-Long Battery Life, Brighter Retina Display

Hey guys,

Check it out!

What have I bought and have been using these few days? The Apple Watch Ultra! And, I'm really loving it. I've been resisting not getting the Apple watch for a long time. I finally caved in after my nephew bought one and showed it to me.

Yes. I didn't know anything about the Apple Watch Ultra before this. It actually intrigued me. Frankly, I've been thinking of getting the Apple Watch since it first came out but I wasn't a fan of the design. I wasn't also into health until now.

I've been cycling to work and gone to cool places I've never been to. That's when I started using Google maps and also got interested in reading my health and fitness stats. I even bought a cheap smartwatch that supposedly can read my heartbeat rates.

For cycling stats, I have the magene bike computer. I'm still going to use it when I go out riding. Before, I wasn't really sure that a watch can read my heartbeat or give me all the stats. Like, I've said, I have never owned a smartwatch before. Simply because they're expensive.

Well, they used to be expensive. Nowadays, you can get a good cheap one with all the apps to help you read your performance stats. Okay, maybe the sensors aren't as good or advanced enough. The one I got has a heartbeat reading, calories burned, and steps.

What I really loved about my Ultra though is the ability to read your ECG reading. As they stated, they can't check for stroke but you can at least see if there are any irregularities in rhythm. I always thought I have a heart problem. As my breathing isn't good. Turn out, I have a broken nose.

Apple Watch Series 8 [GPS + Cellular 41mm] Smart Watch w/ Graphite Stainless Steel Case w/ Midnight Sport Band-M/L. Fitness Tracker, Blood Oxygen & ECG Apps, Always-On Retina Display, Water Resistant

Yes. I didn't know I had a broken nose until I was referred to a nose specialist. He discovered my nose was so badly broken it formed an 'S'. No wonder, I've been having breathing problems. I went through my two years of military service with a broken nose. Lol.

Anyway, besides being able to check your heartbeat, blood oxygen, and other useful fitness sports stats, I also love the ability to reply to my WhatsApp messages. My nephew also taught me to use the walkie-talkie app. Now, we can voice chat anytime via our Apple watch. Cool!

Apple Watch Series 7 (GPS, 45mm) Blue Aluminum Case with Abyss Blue Sport Band, Regular (Renewed)

I've been buying an Apple watch ultra band and games to play. There aren't many good games, yet. I feel developers aren't taking the apple watch seriously enough. Surprisingly, I actually love playing quick-fix games on my watch. At 49mm, the screen is pretty big. Looks bulky, but light on the wrist.

The Apple Watch is the future. It's good enough that you can even start to leave your phone at home. It's not perfect. It's like the first gen iPhone. They have been improving on it and now it's becoming more powerful. A camera in the future? Real social media app? Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and youtube!

Compatible with Apple Watch ultra Band 42mm 44 mm 45 mm49 mm Men, Top Grain Leather Band Replacement Strap iWatch Series 8/7/ 6/5/ 4/ 3/ 2/ 1, SE, ultra. Retro Leather (Retro coffee+Black buckle, 42mm44mm45mm49mm)

You can actually already use third-party apps to access them on your phone. But, we want official apps. Right now, I'm only able to receive FB and Instagram notifications. But, can't click on the link to view it. There's an ubrowser and a hidden safari browser for some reason can't play youtube and log in to FB.

The Ultra watch battery can pretty much last the whole day if you're working the usual 8 hrs job. By the time I reached home, it'll still be at 60-75%. I don't need to charge on Sat night if I'm not going out on Sunday. Guess, my typical usage isn't that heavy.

I still have 24GB of storage left from 32GB. I love how all the apps are small byte sizes. I believe there are occasions when you don't want to bring along your phone or maybe bring it along while hiking as a standby in an emergency. A smartwatch will be your main device in the future instead.

Hey guys,

Quick promo!

Sigh! If only I'm rich. I'm practically salivating at owning this Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo SE 15 ultimate gaming and even work laptop!

What I really love is the dual-screen. Frankly, at first, I thought this was a joke. But, after I've started using multiple monitors in my daily computer setup, I realized, it's actually pretty useful.

You can play games, watch youtube and use social media at the same time. I can blog, do research on Google, check my phone notifications, Whatsapp on the second screen just like my Pc setup. When I use my normal laptop, I actually miss this multiple-screen setup.

  • ROG ScreenPad Plus: 14-inch secondary touchscreen display | Game, Stream, Create, and more!
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 with ROG Boost
  • Latest 5th Gen AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX Processor (16M Cache, up to 4.5 GHz)
  • 300Hz 3ms 15.6” Full HD 1920x1080 IPS-Type PANTONE Validated Display
  • 32GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM | 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD
  • Comes with Windows 10 Professional and a FREE upgrade to Windows 11 (when available1)
The specs are another thing to marvel at. The design is pretty cool too. I'm a sucker for good design. No matter if it's a mobile phone, gaming console, or laptop. Design is at the top of my requirement list!

I'll love to test this laptop and see how good it really is. In the picture, it looks pretty big and heavy. You don't want it to just stick to your desktop. Especially, since it's a portable pc.

If you have the dough, definitely recommended going for it. I'll be freaking jealous if you do. Lol!

ACCESSING FACEBOOK & TWITTER ON NINTENDO SWITCH LITE

Nintendo Switch Lite - Gray

Hey guys,

Check it out!

If you didn't already know, you can access and check out your Facebook and Twitter on your Nintendo Switch. I discovered it back in the early days from a guy's youtube channel. And you don't need to do any kind of hacking.

It's pretty easy. Go to your link account setting and click either FB or Twitter. The trick is not to link the account. You can create a dummy user just to do this. When you reach the sign-in section, just click to go to the main FB or Twitter page. Sign-in from there. Voila!

Another thing is that actually, you can also go to google search. From Facebook, do a google page search and there will be a link to Google.com. Click it and it'll bring you to the main search page. From there you can do a quick search and even check your Gmail.

Yesterday, I tried accessing my Gmail but, it doesn't seem to work anymore. Most of the time, it just shows a blank page. I did this on my Switch lite, while the last time I tried it out on my Nintendo switch it works well. So, if you're on a Nintendo Switch, you can still try if it works.

Accessing FB on the switch is not really stable. The page is all over the place and it keeps reloading. It can't seem to handle that many graphics. You can still browse through your FB, watch videos, and see pictures. You can also post on it.

Twitter on the other hand is more stable. Maybe, because it's using the older version. You can see pictures but videos don't seem to work. You can also post and check out what's latest without any problem. Pretty cool!

If only I can access my email. Yes, you can do all that on your phone. But, when you're on your switch, wouldn't it be easier to check while using it? I'm still wondering why FB, Twitter, Spotify, and other social media apps aren't available for the switch.

Controller for Nintendo Switch Handheld Mode, Joycon Controller for Nintendo Switch with Ergonomic Grip, Wired Pro Switch Controllers with Built-in PD Chip, 6-Axis Gyro, Turbo, Dual Motor Vibration

What is so hard about it? I don't think these companies have anything to lose. Well, they'll be losing potential customers, that's for sure. With 53 million switch already sold worldwide. Just the other day, Asphalt 9 was celebrating 5 million downloads!

It would also be nice to be able to play downloaded movies or music on your switch when you don't have any kind of connection. Xbox and PS4 have these apps. Why can't the switch too? Unless there's some kind of restrictions.

Nintendo needs to learn and expand their eShop offering from the Apple and Google store. Just games alone are not cutting it. Anyway, it's not as if the switch isn't that powerful enough. Even then it'll be optimized for the switch.

My Razer Phone - FAIL!?

Razer Phone-120 Hz Ultra Motion Display-65GB Memory-8GB RAM-Dual Camera-Dual Front-Facing Speakers

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I've sold my trusty old iphone 7 + and got myself the Razer Phone Chinese New Year (CNY) special edition. I didn't like the latest iPhone 8 or iPhone X (xpensive?) design. Although, they are more powerful then my iphone 7.

It's also been some time, since, I've bought an android phone. That's why I decided to go with Razer. Razer are having discounts offer and I got myself the tempered glass screen protector for free and the hammerhead earpiece for half the price. Awesome deals!

Now, the horror report. After, I did my unboxing, I put my microsd and sim card to the mini tray which is provided for you on the phone. I then, switched on the phone. It all seems well and I followed the ritual setup. But, it all began to seem meddlesome, cumbersome and slow for me.

I even had to restart the phone couple of time, because I didn't know which one to choose. Why should I signed in to Google or Razer. Can't it wait until I'm into the system?

I was already feeling a little frustrated and agitated with the procedure. It seems to be installing stuff without asking me or already pre-installing games. Maybe, they thought, I'll want to immediately try out their new booster system. NOT!

After finally, finishing on the setting up, I decided to test out the apps. Lo and behold, it all doesn't work. It keep giving me the 'not responding' crap, again and again. Even the camera doesn't want to turn on. I had to force close it and try opening the app couple of time. By this time, I was already missing my iphone 7+!

Next, went to the Play Store and even the play store app gave me the 'not responding' notification. Bleh. It took me couple of hours to download all the usual social media apps that I've been using on my iphone. Yes! Hours!!

I've always dislike android. People, been telling me, they have improved the software. But, this just proved, nothing have changed. At the same time, I'm not really sure if it's the OS or Razer phone that's causing the problem. The negativity of the android software is really pulling it down.

The only other mobile phone OS that I like beside iOS are the Blackberry OS 10. Which, I really loved, when I had the q10. I'm really thinking of returning the Razer phone. But, I'm lazy and I'm hoping it might just be the software. Most people, seem to give it grave reviews.

After making the above video, I decided to reset the phone. I'm thinking, somewhere I might have f-up the setup and updating. This time, it seems a little easier and faster. Although, the Google play store are still doing some 'completing setup' crap.

I tried testing out again the pre-installed camera app and yes, it still didn't want to open up and just froze. Stupid phone. I might have to use a different app that actually works. I tried re-downloading whatsapp and the playstore gave me the 'not responding' notification yet again. Ahhh!!

I'll have to find a work around all these problem and try make this phone work like my iphone 7+. Not sure, how long before I give up on it. Granted, this is Razer first foray into the mobile world. And just like the first iphone, there are kinks that they would have to work at.

If you're thinking of getting the Razer phone, just be aware about the problem I've been having with the phone. It might be the phone that I've got or that android OS still suckz. Anyway, I'll be looking out for the latest iPhone iteration. Heard, that there'll be two new versions in 2018!

For the moment, I'm stuck with Razer phone and android. Bleh :p

*Update: Every pre-installed apps seem to be working fine after I reset it. Still testing out!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer (Official)

Star Wars The Digital Six film Collection

Hey guys,

Have you check out the last jedi trailer yet?

I have always like the original Star wars movie. It's the movie that I grew up with. Time have changed and the latest Star Wars movie reflect that change in it. In fact, most of the remakes and new movies have that different vibes in it.

I'm not just talking about the technology. But, the change in the environment, our way of thinking, the millennials. Is it for the better? Is being edgy better? Being, too smart for our own good? I think, there's a conflict going on right now.

No, I'm not talking about the illegal wars been going on in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. I'm talking about the conflict of thoughts with the older generations that's going out and the new millennials still streaming in.

The millennials, are definitely the future right now. But, they need to hold firmly to that passing batton and make it their own. Just like in this Star Wars movie, mark hamilton, leading the young against the dark forces that want to try again, take over good.

Some of the older generation (like Trump) need to go. The 'new' people need to take over and bring the world to the next level. Until now, we still haven't build a spaceship and even setup base on our nearest neighbours. We're still living in a science fiction world!

We need more scientist and more experts on technology to achieve this enormous task. Earth, resources are going to be used out soon and our populations are still growing. Food and water shortage are a concerned and country like Myanmar and now America closing their borders.

We are now almost at the end of 2017 and it'll be 2020 soon. We're supposed to be in the forefront of critical modern thinking and the social media today have make the world smaller. But, there are still countries living like a frog under a rock!

Lucas, the original creator of Star Wars have always been a storyteller. Some people have even accused him of being racist in his movie. But, it's just a reflection of what we are as a people. As a temporary occupants of this place called, Earth.

When you watch the Star Wars movie, you might want to take a closer look. It might just be like watching the mirror reflection of you.

It's high time for a change and to look forward into the future!
