ASUS ROG TwinView Dock 3

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Yesterday, I blog about the new Asus ROG Gaming Phone 3. Looks like not a bad phone with specs better than my Samsung Note 10+. I especially like the Air Triggers feature. If you like playing Call of Duty or PUBG mobile, it works with the game.

For me, the problem with mobile gaming is that the games with controller support are limited. I also don't care about the streaming capabilities because you need a subscription and internet access. Heck, most of the mobile games need internet access just to play like the Free-to-play game.

Do you know how frustrated it is to want to play a game only to find out you can't because you don't have access to Wifi or data internet? I deleted those kinds of stupid games. It's not even a full game. I prefer playing on my Nintendo Switch lite. Which already comes with a controller.

Now, there are already a lot of indie and even popular triple-A games coming to the Nintendo Switch. Most mobile games are also ported to the Switch. Which includes Free-to-play games too. Well, at least, if I can't play the F2P, I can always play my full downloaded games.

Anyway, today, I want to talk about the Asus ROG TwinView Dock 3. Recently, Samsung came out with the Samsung Z Fold 2 phone. I like the idea of the 2-in-1 phablet. Using it as a phone and also opening it up to use as a tablet. You can also open it half-way and use it as a twin-screen phone.

Asus now has the ROG Zephyrus Duo SE 15 gaming laptop. It's an updated version of last year's edition. But, what's more, interesting is the second screen below the main laptop monitor. See what I'm getting at? I think our mobile phones today are powerful enough to use two screens at the same time.

I've already talked about the mobile phone lapdock. Where you can connect your phone to a laptop shell that becomes a laptop. Asus can do that too. If they build the TwinView Dock a laptop size, change the UI like the Samsung Dex, voila!

Don't get me wrong, the TwinView dock as it is, already great. You can use the screen separately and use the different apps at the same time. You can even play two games at one go. Although, not all games are optimized for the two screens. Kinda remind you of the Nintendo 3DS?

Having 2 screens means, you can multi-task. You can watch youtube videos on the top screen while chatting on the bottom screen. The main game can be at the top while the control or map below. You can use the bottom screen as a keyboard to reply to the email viewed at the top.

That's why I prefer the Asus TwinView Dock to have a bigger screen. Maybe, a 7 inch. Just like a Nintendo Switch. Yes, it's good for gaming, but you can also use the extra screen for work. Maybe, dragging pictures or videos viewed on the phone main screen to the top screen that has the video editor app opened.

I keep repeating this. The mobile phone today is not just a phone anymore. It's a powerful small computer. We practically used it almost every day. For work, play, and social media. If we have accessories like a bigger TwinView Dock or the lap dock. We won't need to bring along a laptop or even use a desktop anymore. Especially, if you travel a lot for work or even play.

I like the idea of the TwinView dock and hopefully, other phone companies will come out with something like it too. Especially, Samsung. Since I already am using a Samsung phone. Having bought the Razer Phone, I'm not sure if I want another 'gaming' phone when the games suck. Especially, those without the game controller support.
