I've talked about BBQ electric grill with multipurpose steamboat before. You can read it up here. I love eating hot soup noodles with grilled meat or vegetables. It's also kinda fun. You chit-chat or watch movies while waiting for the meat to be cooked.

Yesterday, I went for my Covid-19, 2nd dose jab. The center is near my sis house and I've already asked my nephew to prep something to eat like he did the first time. We had fishball soup, meats, veggies, and noodles that day. It was pretty fun, although it was only me and him.

My nephew had other ideas though, this time around. He wanted to just eat grilled meats and hot spicy Korean noodles in a cup. I didn't really want to eat spicy food after my vaccine jab but he told me, he won't put too much of the spicy stuff.

Nowadays, I can't eat even a little spicy food or I'll have diarrhea. Guess, at my age, my stomach isn't that good anymore. Lucky for me, I didn't have a stomach problem until about 6 in the evening. I drank a thai cold milk drink and I think it triggered the stomach ache.

Personally, I like 2 in 1 BBQ electric grill with a hot pot. My nephew's version only allows you to cook one type at a time. Yes, it also comes with a hot pot but you'll have to change it every time you want to cook the grill or the hot soup. Kinda, a hassle.

I guess you can just pour everything inside the hot pot to cook the noodles and the veggies. Once, it's cooked, you can then change to grilling the meats or whatever. The soup will probably stay hot for quite a while. If not, you'll have to change over again.

Nikon Coolpix P950 - I Bought More Lens Filters

The first filter that I bought for my Nikon Coolpix P950 is the UV filter by K&F. It was supposed to protect my lens and makes my picture a little brighter. Actually, I don't really see how it makes my pictures and video better. It doesn't help that the weather was a little dull this month.

I saw some other filters too, and I finally decided to buy a few different types of filters. As I've said, I want to make my pictures and videos better, so if these filters will make it looks better, I'm all for it. I'm also curious to try them out with my P950.

When I read the descriptions for some of the filters, I found out that I actually need to do some speed shutter adjustments and other several settings. Now, things are getting more technical. I will have to refer to their recommendation back once in a while.

I actually can't wait to try them out. My birthday is coming up soon and the country is actually celebrating independence on the same day. Yes, I was born the same day as my country's independence day. So, I get to see lots of lightings and banners set up everywhere.

One of the filters I bought is the adjustable ND Filter ND2 to ND400. I think it's cool you can easily adjust the filter. Now that I think of it, I might have to take out my lens hood so that I can easily interchange them. Kinda a hassle. Guess, I have to get used to it.

Like I've said before in past posts. I'm so used to using my phone camera to take pictures. Now, I have to learn more technical and manual stuff to get the pictures and videos I want. I'm not complaining though. I've been wanting to own a camera for so long. At my age now, it's becoming a fun hobby.

Another set of lens star filters that I got is the starburst 4, 6, and 8 points. I want to try it on the celebrating lightings set up near my apartment block. Would be cool to see the star effects. I had a hard time choosing either the 4, 6, or 8. But then, I saw a bundle for three and got them instead. 

Now, I can test all of them and see which fits the picture. I was thinking, maybe some pics will have too many star effects. Since I have all three of them, I can quickly switch and choose either or all of them to share. Different people might have different opinions on the star effects.

One of the videos I took with my P950 was me walking between two wall slopes. You can watch my full video here. I only notice my wobbling after I download the video up to my youtube channel. That makes me think of getting a mini tripod stick.

Instead of me holding the camera on the right, holding the stick in the middle will eliminate my wobbling. I can of course, also use it as a selfie stick or vlog. Although, I'm not into Vlogging. I also opted to get one with remote control.

I've been thinking too of getting a remote for my camera. Glad I hold off, cause now I can use the mini tripod and remote together. I actually didn't know they sell it as a bundle. Come to think of it, selfie sticks do come with a remote. But, I've tried connecting to my camera and it doesn't work.

Well, after almost 2 years, the Covid-19 pandemic is still not over yet. At the moment, there are even new variants of the virus. The problem is not enough people in the world are vaccinated yet. People talk about their own country but if not enough people of the world are vaccinated, we're all still in deep shit.

It also doesn't help that some don't believe in vaccination. Coming up with stupid and weird conspiracy theories. The virus is basically the same as any kind of virus that attacks us, humans, in the past. We managed to fight it and get vaccinated. That's how the world solves and gets to move on after that.

I just got this fingertip oximeter the other day and I find it pretty useful. I also downloaded a third-party oximeter app on google store that you can connect via Bluetooth. I'm not an expert in this product or any kind of health matter. Like everyone else, I did my own reading. You can read up on pulse oximeter here on Wikipedia.

If you read the above part of the article on pulse-oximeter, it is pretty useful to check up on your own health during this pandemic. What catches my eye is that the person doesn't know he is in danger and still looks and feels comfortable.

I don't really care to check up on my health. Physically, I have bunion toe, broken nose, half-deaf on my left ear, left knee joint pain, and slip disc back pain. But, once I try it and see at least, I'm kinda healthy, it actually boosts my self-confidence. 

Several years ago, I had a blood pressure check-up once and the nurse told me I'm borderline. She didn't tell me the numbers though. My blood pressure has gone down since. The fingertip oximeter can also tell your blood pressure and mine I think is 90+. Well below 120.

The fingertip oximeter says that there's no irregularity in my health result. Pretty reassuring. Ok, it might not be 100% accurate but it doesn't give you any alarming info. Especially, low SpO2, low oxygen saturation. So far, I'm doing pretty well in this pandemic, thank you!

I was so captivated by the beauty of the evening sky that I decided to take a video of it on my Samsung Note 10+. I check out the pro settings and I'm like whoa! You can do so many things to make your pictures, the way you want them to be seen.

In the end, I didn't change anything and just took the video as it is. Later on, I put the filter on when uploading to youtube. It makes the blue sky looks much darker but kinda fake. Maybe, I should have just left it be.

I've been using my Apple iPhone, iPad, and Samsung phone to take many pictures and videos for years. I even use it for my youtube channel. I've actually blogged about it before. The mobile phone camera has improved so much that you can take videos, edit and upload them right from your phone.

Several decades ago, you can't do all that. You need a good camera and a computer. My first few videos on my youtube channel were taken using my webcam. I'll then edit them or just upload as it is. My favorite software was Microsoft free Movie Maker. In fact, I'm still using it today!

In the old days though, I don't have a high-end pc. I was still using old Pentium and probably 2 or 4Gb of rams. Can't remember exactly. The moviemaker will hang or crash. Sometimes, it won't even load. You can imagine how constantly frustrated I was trying to finish my video.

The worst part is when you have done your editing and you're about to save when suddenly your computer freeze. The only thing you can do is press ctrl+alt+delete or switch off and on the computer. And you wonder why pc users have anger management issues. Lol!

I can't remember which versions of the iPhone that I started using for my channel. Maybe, it's the iPhone 6, 7, or 8. I didn't like the iPhone X with the notch, so I decided to switch back to Samsung phones. My current phone is the Samsung Note 10+.

Yesterday, I was teaching a lady friend how she can make videos and upload them to her youtube channel. She thought that she'll need a laptop. I told her, nowadays, she can do everything right on her phone. I'm not sure what kind of phone she's using though.

I'm hoping to get the latest Samsung Z Fold 2 or 3 coming up soon? I like the 2 in 1 form factor. You can use it as a mobile phone and open it up to use as a tablet. If you're a Youtuber or blogger like me that will be pretty useful.

It'll be much easier to edit your videos or even post a blog with a bigger screen. Open it up, connect to your Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and you have a mini android computer setup. The best thing is that you can do it anytime and anywhere. Fewer items to bring along too!

For travel vloggers, would be lighter loads for them. If Samsung can improve on the camera and user interface (UI), the phone will be pretty popular amongst influencers. I've been hearing about Samsung's new Exynos 2200. That can be used on laptops and mobile phones. Imagine that on the latest Z Fold 3?

Valve announces Steam Deck - I'm sticking with my Switch lite

My nephew suddenly msg me the other day and asked me if I have seen Steam Deck. I didn't know what it was and said I'm too busy to care. I decided to check what it's all about after I'm done with my work. Oh, it's a steam version of Nintendo Switch. I'm already seeing a youtube video headline for the death of the Nintendo Switch. lol :p

I think it's only available at the end of the year if I can remember correctly. Meanwhile, the new Nintendo Switch Oled will arrive in October. You can check it out on the Amazon link here. One thing for sure, it's much cheaper than a Steam Deck.



Nintendo Switch Lite - Blue

Looking at the Steam Deck design, the first thing you see is the weird placement of the control buttons and two pads located on both sides of the 7 inch LCD screen. There's nothing special about the trigger buttons. Looks the same as a Switch.

I wish they had proper triggers like an Xbox controller. Oh yeah, there are 4 special paddles behind the deck just like the elite Xbox controller. I'm assuming you can set it up to your own preferences. Other than that, physically it looks like and probably weighs the same as a Nintendo Switch.

Personally, I'm not surprised they're using AMD products. There's actually already something similar created by a Chinese company a couple of months back. AMD is probably going to win this portable gaming computer. I'm not totally sure how good Intel mobile graphics are.

How good will it play and for how long? I'm guessing maybe 2-3 hours of hardcore gaming. It's basically just like a gaming laptop. You can even use it as a laptop. Plugin your gaming keyboard and mouse, voila! You can also dock it to a big screen TV with your own compatible cables.

My Switch lite can't do that. What I worry about for the Steam Deck is when you start installing all the craps we always do on a laptop or PC and it will start to bog your system. If you like to tinker, it will be more than just a portable gaming console.

The Steam Deck is admittedly very interesting. As I've owned both the Nintendo Switch and Switch lite, I'm a little bias towards my current Switch lite. It's great for gaming, watching videos, and listening to music on youtube. That's basically what I do with it, every day.

If ever I'm getting the Steam Deck, I will probably tinker the heck out of it. Remember, it's basically a portable gaming pc. I can even use the integrated controller to control my raspberry pi car robot. I actually tried that before with my Powkiddy X18. Watch the video here.



Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit -Luigi Set - Nintendo Switch Luigi Set Edition

Now, you can also control a car with the Nintendo Switch. The Mario Kart Live. I wonder if Nintendo had read my blog post about it. I've been wanting to use my Switch to be able to control my Raspberry pi. Months later, they come up with Mario Kart. Coincidence?

The Steam Deck is very much different than the Nintendo Switch and it caters to different types of gamers. If you're a PC/Steam gamer, you'll probably get it. If you're into Nintendo products or consoles, you'll probably stick with the Switch. 

Right now, I'm sticking with my favorite portable gaming console, the Switch lite. I've already loads of games in it. I don't really need to buy another portable gaming console. Yes, I've many Steam games too, that's why I'm not counting out getting it, maybe in the near future.

As promised, here's the video clip of the beautiful big badass black lizard that caught my eyes just as I was walking briskly, passing by it. I'm in a botanic garden, so it's probably already used to be surrounded by humans. The way it chills as I took a video of it.

I was the only one taking videos of the lizard. Precisely, why I like going around taking pictures and videos during normal working days. If it were the weekends, the place would have been full of noisy weekenders. It'll be worse if there were pesky kids.

The botanic gardens I went to were relatively quiet and it was in mid-afternoon. But, the sky was still grey and moody. I managed to take loads of pictures and a little more after re-charging my one camera battery for a while. 

I'm glad, I was able to re-charge my battery with my power bank or I wouldn't be able to record video of the lizard. Using a power bank to re-charge my Nikon Coolpix P950 is too slow. Nowadays, there's fast charging, but I'm not too sure how fast is fast.

I still haven't got myself extra camera batteries. I'll get it soon. Meanwhile, I'm just being mindful of using too much zooming and taking unnecessary photos. I actually don't like using the burst mode. Ok, maybe because I don't want to waste space and battery. Also, I'm not used to using it.

I'm still new to using a point-and-shoot camera like the P950. The only settings I've been using are the Scene, close-up and single shot. I switch between auto a lot. And, I always play with the light compensation. Especially, in the moody weather.

Now, I'm thinking of getting new camera filter for different effects. I also need to learn to use the other types of settings available on my camera. Browsing through the P950 online manual makes me realized there's more to it then just using the scene and auto.

I might want to try out the P, S, A and M modes. I'm actually afraid to use them. I don't want to fck up my pictures and videos. But, now since, I've already taken loads of pictures and videos for my youtube channel. I'm ready to try them out next time.

I really need to get out more and test the camera further. I'm a lazy homeboy but having this camera makes me want to go out and play with it. This is basically my new hobby or interest. I'm actually thinking of maybe setting up a new channel just for photo and video-graphy.

I don't know why every local park I went to, I'm sure to find this big lizard walking around or just swimming around in the lake. I was resting at the park shelter when I saw something moving in the water. At first, I thought it was a snake or piece of wood. Turn out it's the lizard!

I was actually still re-charging the camera battery with my power bank. Luckily, the lizard still hanging around at the side of the lake. That's why I love the zooming capability of the Nikon Coolpix P950. I can discreetly zoom in to just its head popping out of the water.

There was a couple of time when I make the mistake of moving too near the animals to take pictures or videos. When I can simply just use the camera to zoom. I guess that's why they say the Nikon P1000, P900 and P950 are best for wildlife.

In one of my pictures, I didn't realize there was a dragonfly on the branch far out in the water. I only notice it after uploading it on my video. Again, without the zooming capability of my camera, I wouldn't have seen it. 

That's one of the advantages of the Nikon Coolpix P950. In fact, I'm frequently using zoom to take pictures and videos. It actually came naturally to me. My nephew saw one guy with his camera and big lens. I told him, he's probably a pro.

Ok, maybe it's just his interest in camera and photography. But, the kind of lens he's carrying, that probably cost more than my camera. I wouldn't be able to afford it. I got my P950 at half the price because it's a demo version. And, it still looks brand new.

The P950 is a great starter camera for me. It's probably for you too if you've never owned a point-and-shoot camera. Especially with the 83x zoom. You can take videos in 4K and upload them in 1080P. The quality of the image would be better than being downgraded from 1080P.

Another great thing about the camera that I keep forgetting to talk about is how stable it is, even without a camera tripod. Ok, if you really want a more steady shot, then you'll need one. But, for moments where you don't want to lose a shot like me taking the video of the lizard swimming, it does help.

I don't have steady hands. And, it does shake a lot when you're at maximum zoom. I found that out when taking videos of boats and planes without a tripod. I also managed to save up the battery before I finished getting what I wanted.

Also, my 128GB SD card storage has finally dropped below the 100GB mark. I might have to get a new card soon. I'm planning to buy a new card every time it's full and keep all my pics and videos on it. I don't trust any backup HD drive as they have failed me time and again.
