NIKON Z8| CINEMATIC SHORT | EVENING SUN #nikonz8 #eveningsun #davinciresolve19

(All links will open up in a new tab.)

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I've been learning to use my Nikon Z8 camera in the past few days. At the same time, I've decided to download the latest Davinci Resolve from their main website. It's totally Free. And, it has all these tools and effects you can use to enhance your videos.

Though free, there are tons of free effects and color management, and it also looks professional. Luckily, I've used different video editing software and learned pretty quickly. Okay, they also have a good help manual and tutorials that you can use.

I'm also starting to take videos using Raw and N-Log settings. The problem is I have to take videos without color. It should be taken with the correct exposure too. Check out the video above edited with Davinci Resolve. There's also a #short version here

If you watched my video on my YouTube channel, make sure you like, share & subscribe. I would also like some feedback on it. Appreciate some comments or tips to improve it. I have no idea if people like the videos I have taken and edited using my other camera like the Nikon P950 or Nikon Zfc.

Positive feedback will provide the inspiration to make more videos. I've been trying cinematic videos and learning methods that I could use. Currently, I prefer making short videos. Not, the #short videos but videos that are only a few minutes long.

You can check out some of these short cinematic videos on YouTube and they're pretty good. I like watching short videos from Japanese and Japanese cultures. I also learned that sometimes, the camera doesn't matter. You'll still need to have good eyes to make good videos.

The most important thing is to love what you're doing. And, I love it. I love fiddling with my Nikon Z8, I like taking photos and now loving taking and editing videos. It doesn't matter what kind of pictures or videos. Just do what you want.

I like that I'm learning and doing new things in my life. Especially, at the age I'm in right now. Just because you're getting older doesn't mean it's time to retire. You can still learn new things. You can still do new things. It ain't over, till the fat lady sings!

I just remembered that I bought a new Camera Field Monitor yesterday from Feelworld. It fits my budget and it'll be useful. It includes many luts that I can see while filming. You can also use your favorite luts uploaded via the SD Card slot.

The luts while filming would make it much easier to see and edit later if you need to. It beats looking at the plain video on your camera's small screen. I'm still thinking if I should use a gimbal or a camera cage. It would be an easy decision if not for both prices being expensive. Lol!

The pic above was taken with my Nikon Z8. I had just put on a CPL lens. The lens supposedly protects your main lens from the sun. Helps to make my picture look better too, I believe. As usual, I shoot jpegs. I'm just lazy. What can I say?

Is SINGAPORE becoming a cycling haven? #cycling #roadbike #mountainbike #gravelbike

Schwinn GTX Comfort Adult Hybrid Bike, Men and Women, Dual Sport Bicycle, 700c Wheels, Step-Through or Step-Over Lightweight Aluminum Frame

(Note: All links will open up in a new tab.)

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Is Singapore becoming a cycling haven?

It is. I recently started cycling because I found a new work near my place. Rather than walking to a nearby bus stop, waiting another 5-7 mins for the bus to come, and reaching 7 mins later, cycling would be a much better option.

I can walk to work but it'll take over 20mins. The best alternative is of course cycling. It's much faster and most importantly, I'll save around $80/mth. There are also health benefits of cycling to work every day. I have definitely improved my overall fitness.

The good news is that Singapore is starting to provide better cycling lanes for cyclists. The old pathway is getting wider and there's a clearly painted lane. Pedestrians don't have to worry about getting hit by reckless cyclists. They even provide special lanes at the traffic lights.

People are still getting used to the separate lanes. Some pedestrians insist on walking on the cycling lane. And vice versa. Hopefully, with more cycling lanes, more people will start to cycle either for health or as another form of eco-friendly transportation.

At first, I just cycled my bike to work every day. Later on, once I got my confidence, I decided to venture out during my off day. I planned to go to a famous place called the Lor Halus Red Bridge. As it was my first time, I had to ask people for directions.

I frequently stop by the bridge before continuing to other places like Pasir Rish Beach or Changi Beach. The other day, I tried a new cycling route called the Eastern Corridor. As it was my first time trying out the route, I got lost numerous times. Some of the routes lead to a dead end.

Google Maps is your friend. I used it when I went out cycling to new places. I'll re-calibrate my position and choose a different route. For those wanting to try out the new route, follow the river. That's my tip. It is also quite far. Look out for the route signage.

You can watch my cycling video using the eastern corridor trail to East Coast Beach here. You can also watch all my other cycling videos cycling to such places via the links in this post. Of course, you can visit my YouTube channel here for more cycling videos.

One of my favorite places to cycle to is Coney Island. A nice, quiet place to cycle, walk, jog, or enjoy the beautiful beach scenery. Remember, that you have to leave the place by 7pm. As they will close the gate. You are not allowed to stay overnight.

There are two entrances on each end of the tiny island. From the western gate, you can cycle to a nearby Punggol jetty or boardwalk. From there, you can cycle back to Sengkang Riverside Park or continue to the last fishing village, Sembawang Park, Woodlands Waterfront Park, or jetty.

Well, what do you think? Is Singapore becoming a cyclist haven? There are some places yet that I have never been to. Ketam Mountain Bike Park in Pulau Ubin, Chestnut Nature Park, Bukit Timah Bike Trail, and many others. All in this tiny Island country. lol

Cycling has also made me interested in photography and videography. I'll be talking about it in another post. You can check out one of my photography adventures in this video. My first ever camera was the Nikon P950. One of my pictures has almost been viewed by millions on Google Maps!

Watch my latest new carbon hybrid gravel bike with a straight handlebar video here. My new Chili red mountain bike here. My new fixie aero design GRAY here. And, my JAVA J AIR Fuoco gold road bike here!

Easy to say, cycling has made me enjoy the outdoors. It also helps that Singapore is becoming a cycling haven!

My new Viltrox 13mm F1.4 AF lens for Nikon Zfc unboxing

VILTROX 13mm F1.4 f/1.4 Nikon z Mount Lens, Super Wide Angle Autofocus APS-C Lens for Nikon Z50 Z30 Z6II Z7II Z6 Z7

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I got the chance to test out my new Viltrox 13mm, f1.4 AF lens on my Nikon zfc, and I love it. Though, it's not for all situations. Especially, when I want closer shots of my subject. Sometimes, it's too broad. Hence, having to change the lens frequently. Lol.

I was planning to go out again today and use the Viltrox 13mm lens but, the weather forecast says it's gonna be cloudy the whole day. It's actually dark in my room right now. I was hoping for some bright blue skies. Anyway, since it's a holiday, it's a great chance to rest my body aka body maintenance.

VILTROX 13mm F1.4 f/1.4 Nikon z Mount Lens, Super Wide Angle Autofocus APS-C Lens for Nikon Z50 Z30 Z6II Z7II Z6 Z7

I really like how sharp the 13mm is. It really does give a little difference in the view perspective. Most reviewer says it's great for landscape. I usually set my camera to auto. And, it works well with the viltrox lens. It does give a little wider view.

The lens is a tad heavy. You can really feel the build quality and how much you pay for it. As I'm using it with the Nikon zfc, it really gives my camera a distinctive look. Yup, I know people eyeing my camera while carrying it around.

Z fc DX-Format Mirrorless Camera Body w/NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE)

Maybe, it's because I'm like the only one carrying a camera. Well, there is this one other guy with a bigger lens than mine. Kinda funny, cause he's probably wondering why mine, the lens, is shorter if I'm gonna shoot some birds.

I didn't really go to the Sungei Buloh Wetlands Reserve (Google Maps) to get some bird shots. I also wanted to try my new Nikon Nikkor Z DX 50-250mm lens. I'm also loving the lens. Though I couldn't get much closer shots, I can still enlarge and crops the pics later.

NIKON NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Ultra-Compact Long Telephoto Zoom Lens with Image Stabilization for Nikon Z Mirrorless Cameras

Well, you need to go out there and start shooting photos if you want to improve and I certainly learn a lot by doing it. Every time I went out hiking or cycling to interesting places to take photos, I discovered what kind of lens I should or not use.

I basically got myself the Nikkor z dx 50-250mm because I like zooming in or out to get the shots that I want or preferred. When I first used the 28mm prime lens, I really miss the zooming capabilities of my Nikon Coolpix P950. Of course, the prime lens offered a different perspective too.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S

When I went to the wetland reserve, I wasn't thinking of getting bird shots. Luckily, I had the 50-250mm. So, I managed to get some good bird shots. But, I soon realized, I'm a couple mm lens shorts. I couldn't get any closer. Now, I'm thinking can or should I get a teleconverter

I just saw this Nikon Nikkor z 400mm (without a tc) and have been watching some reviews and Nikon official videos on it. Looks like pretty amazing pictures and videos. I also like how some reviewers say it's much shorter and lighter compares to other big lenses.

Check out some of my 13mm and 50-250mm pics I took at the Sungei Buloh Wetland reserve below:

The last pic is cropped from a 50-250mm shot. The lens couldn't get any closer but I can enlarge and crop it. Still looks good. Also, using the 13mm is also great for a vertical shot. Useful, when taking a pic of the tall tower. You don't have to stand further out.

Because I'm lazy, I shot mostly in jpegs and just edit a bit of color, brightness, saturation, etc. For more pics and videos of the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Check out my video here. Pls like, share & subscribe!

my nikon z fc 28mm se video sample - woodlands jetty #shorts

Nikon Z fc DX-Format Mirrorless Camera Body (Black) 1673 with 28mm F2.8 SE NIKKOR Z Special Edition Lens Bundle with Deco Gear Microphone + LED + Filter Kit + Backpack + Photography Accessories

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I'm really having fun with my new Nikon Z FC retro design-style camera. Yup, I can see people looking at the camera when I'm out and about taking pictures with it. I bought it with the 28mm se lens and it's pretty sharp. Comparing, it to my Nikon P950, I think there's a difference in style.

Well, maybe because the lenses are different. Whereas the P950 has an 83x optical zoom and 2000mm digital zoom. I love using the zooming lens. I practically use it for taking pictures of everything. Meanwhile, you're stuck with just 28mm and you're the one having to move to take the pictures.

Nikon Z fc DX-Format Mirrorless Camera Body (Black) 1673 with 28mm F2.8 SE NIKKOR Z Special Edition Lens Bundle with Deco Gear Microphone + LED + Filter Kit + Backpack + Photography Accessories

My first camera was the Nikon P950. I bought it because it could zoom to the moon. I also bought it at half the price as it was used as a demo. But, everything still looks like new. I still have it, and I'm still loving it. Now, I have a second camera the Nikon z fc and it's pretty much a different beast.

I finally get to go out and tried it out on a public holiday. The feeling is very much a different camera. Especially, with just the 28mm lens. I kept missing the zoom capability of the P950. But, it's a prime lens so I used it as it is and that's why I said the experience is much different.

NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE) Lens

The Nikkor Z 28mm SE aka special edition autofocus lens is very sharp. The bokeh is nice and definitely good even if you can't zoom. There's a video where the guy said if there's only one lens he could have it's the 28mm. I'm still learning but one of the reasons I decided to get it with the camera.

The Nikkor Z 40mm SE for the z fc is said to be coming out the early next year 2023. I might be getting it. I'll have time to save up for it. I was thinking of getting the Viltrox 13mm lens with super wide-angle autofocus. I saw a video sample and it was a really sharp and wider shot.

VILTROX 13mm F1.4 f/1.4 Nikon z Mount Lens, Super Wide Angle Autofocus APS-C Lens for Nikon Z50 Z30 Z6II Z7II Z6 Z7

As a newbie in photography, I'm really excited and want to try practically every lens there is available for the Nikon z fc. I can't really get my hands on those expensive lenses though. As long as it's within my budget, I'll definitely get it. Especially, if it helps my photos and videos look better.

I've already got my hands on the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Lens. Still waiting for a good time to go out and test it. I basically bought it because I wanted the zoom capabilities. Just like my Nikon P950. Although, using zoom on the p950 is much faster, for me.

NIKON NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR Ultra-Compact Long Telephoto Zoom Lens with Image Stabilization for Nikon Z Mirrorless Cameras

I haven't yet test fully the Nikkor Z Dx 50-250mm. So, I can't really comment on how good it is. I'm still waiting for a good view of the moon to see how good it is for taking moon pictures and videos. It's the rainy season and even my room now is getting dark as I type this.

I did a quick zoom test and it was pretty sharp. Can't find anything interesting far-off to zoom out from my house windows. Well, I'm not in a hurry anyway. It just started raining. I hope, it'll be sunny during the X'mas and New Year holidays. Planning to go to nature parks and use the 50-250mm lens.

Check out some of the pics I took with the Nikkor Z 28mm lens below:

Note* Last pic was edited and added on 22nd Jan 2023 to this post.

The weather is kinda a little cloudy and moody. Would have taken better pictures if the sky was brighter and bluer. Other than that, I can't stay for the sunset pics as I cycle all the way there and wanted to reach home before it gets dark. Anyway, might not be a good sunset with all the clouds blocking.

AstrHori 50mm Manual Focus Lens Nikon z fc sample pictures - Japanese Cemetery Park

AstrHori 50mm F2.0 Large Aperture Full Frame Manual Prime Lens with Blur Effect & Filter Slot Compatible with Nikon Z-Mount Mirrorless Camera Z50,ZFC,Z5,Z6,Z6ⅡZ7,Z7Ⅱ,Z9,etc(Black)

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Yesterday, after work it didn't rain and it was a nice sunny afternoon. Last week, I checked the weather forecast and it was supposed to be a rainy week. But, still, I brought my Nikon z fc camera just in case. I'm glad I did. Turn out to be a nice day for photography.

I guess, my prayer was answered and I now have the chance to test my new AstrHori 50mm manual focus lens. I've read some reviews on it and there are pros and cons. For starters, I'm just a newbie photographer but personally, I think it's awesome!

AstrHori 50mm F2.0 Large Aperture Full Frame Manual Prime Lens with Blur Effect & Filter Slot Compatible with Nikon Z-Mount Mirrorless Camera Z50,ZFC,Z5,Z6,Z6ⅡZ7,Z7Ⅱ,Z9,etc(Black)

Of course, this is just my personal view and preferences. First, I love the manual focus and aperture ring control. In my last blog post, I said I preferred using an autofocus lens. Using the astrhori 50mm makes me change my mind. I got the hang of it really quickly.

I think it's more suitable if you're in a relaxed environment just taking your time to take a picture of flowers or any still interesting images. Take your time to manually focus on the subject, and also your ability to control the aperture ring.

AstrHori 14mm F4.5 Ultra Wide Angle APS-C Manual Lens Strong Anti-Distortion with Filter Slot Compatible with Nikon Z-Mount Mirrorless Camera Z50, ZFC(Silver)

The picture looks really sharp and I love the bokeh. The Japanese cemetery garden I went to is a great place to test the lens. I primarily save in jpeg because I'm lazy to do too much editing if used raw and also I want to save space on my 64GB sd card

I read somewhere it's advisable not to edit too much or you'll make it much worse. Kinda true, every time I try some editing I end up returning to the original value. At the same time, I learned in another video that exaggerating some of your pictures is also good. Lol.

SanDisk 64GB Extreme SDXC UHS-I Memory Card - C10, U3, V30, 4K, UHD, SD Card - SDSDXV2-064G-GNCIN

This time around though, I only edited a little bit trying to make it more natural. And, probably because of the astrhori lens, I didn't edit some of them as they already look fine to me. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I always felt that movie makers have a good eye for great pictures or videos.

I believe you need a good eye to make a good picture. A work of art that people will recognize and enjoy. I'm trying to learn how to see things differently. To make my own photography style and make my own work of art that people will appreciate.

Z fc DX-Format Mirrorless Camera Body w/NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR - Silver

This is probably why I simply love my Nikon z fc. The cool retro design and it's no slouch either. Add a good lens like the AstrHori 50mm, and it'll make for an interesting collection of pictures and videos for me. I really like some of the pictures I've taken yesterday. Check out the video!

Below are some of the sample pics that I like:

I've been to the Japanese cemetery park before and I can't remember if I've used my Nikon P950 to take photos or just used my Samsung phone. I think my Nikon z fc with the astrhori 50mm lens takes much sharper pictures. They also brought something different. Especially, the bokeh.

What do you guys think?
