I decided to get myself a hiking boot since I'll be hiking to the parks soon. I haven't been trekking or checking out nature for a long time. Mostly because I was busy with work and too tired to go out. I'll rather stay at home and watch youtube or play games.

It was only when I bought a mountain bike and started cycling to work that I realized there are beautiful and quiet places where you can go to enjoy nature and relax. First, I re-discovered the joy of cycling. Second, I discovered places that I never knew existed.

My main motivation was to start exercising and get back my six-packs. That's why I decided to get a bicycle and cycle to work rather than take the bus. It's not far but I need to get over a little slope which I call my personal 'slope of hell'. I had trouble getting over the slope in my first few months.

I did think the foldable bike that I bought wasn't suitable for my robust riding style. Maybe, the cheap bike wasn't good enough as I've seen those expensive types with better gears. Anyway, I did finally manage to cycle up the slope but did it better with a mountain bike.

Once I re-discovered the joy of cycling and kinda train up, I decided to start cycling to nature parks and beaches. For long distances, I decided to get a road bike. Which to me will be much lighter and faster. Though, I'll prefer my mountain bike if the places I visit are mostly off-roads. 

You can check out my latest cycling video on my youtube channel here. To most nature parks, I can cycle but there are places where you can't. That's why I decided to just take public transport and go hiking or trekking without worrying about leaving my bike.

I'm ex-military, infantry. Training long day and night walk for missions. I love walking through the jungles. I thought I was done walking and camping. It's only now almost 30 years later that I started to enjoy doing physical, cycling, and walking enjoying what nature has to offer.

One thing I worry about is my bad knees. Every night, I'll have cramps but recently discover that drinking energy and even fruit juices help soothes my cramps and help me sleep at night. I thought only my calcium magnesium zinc vitamins helps.

I don't have any medicine for my knees except medicated oil. I've done an x-ray and luckily there are no broken bones. Obviously, or I won't even be able to walk. But, there's still pain so I'm assuming it's just the muscles tissue problem. The doc makes me realize that my knees don't swell.

I do feel it getting warmer if I walk or stand too long. I can't run or jump or go down the staircase. That's why I prefer cycling. Hoping, it might help improve and heals my knee muscles. So far it's not working. In fact, my legs start to be over-strained.

Well, it certainly won't stop me from enjoying cycling or hiking. And, I'll enjoy it more with my new hiking boots. Oh yeah, wearing this type of boot reminds me how my army boots actually help protect my ankles. At my age right now, I can't afford to break anything. Lol.

I've been busy and resting after getting my Coronavirus Covid-19 vaccine booster shot. I didn't do any weights training or go out for a long cycling trip. I only cycle from home to work and vice versa. At least maintaining some kind of fitness.

I'm not a professional rider and I only cycle for keeping myself fit and enjoying riding around the country to enjoy nature or interesting places. I haven't used public transport for a couple of months. In this pandemic or endemic that's actually a good thing. I guess.

I've also been pimping my foldable mountain bike. Buying bike parts and accessories that I like. I find it actually kinda relaxing doing work on my own bike. You definitely need the tools though. Get a bike tool kit set before you decide to do anything on it.

My ride is a cheap foldable mountain bike. On my youtube video, there are some comments that disapprove of my purchase. One even told me I'm better off walking than buying it. I beg to differ. Yeah, it is cheap. Why would I buy an expensive bike just for cycling to work?

I actually bought a folding bike for riding to work and I had a horrible time using it. I just started cycling again and I was already feeling tired and the bike felt heavy. I was wondering if it's because of the tires. It was only when I bought a new pump that I finally enjoy riding it.

I finally managed to cycle up my personal "slope of hell". After over two months or so, I might have also improved my leg strength and fitness level. But, it was really when I bought and change to my current mountain bike that it gets more comfortable and faster.

My colleague at work even commented that I look better riding a mountain bike than a folding bike. He's kinda right. I feel more comfortable riding a mountain bike than a folding bike. For some reason, I couldn't stand on a folding bike like you do on a mountain bike.

My mountain bike is the cheap type made in China. Although I'm happy with it, I've been watching videos and checking out expensive bikes made in Europe and America. I don't have that much money to buy. They cost 3-4 months or maybe more of anyone's paycheck. Lol.

Unless I have a sponsor, it'll be cool to test them out. I'm pretty sure, there'll be a vast difference in quality. Especially, the suspension system. Personally, I'll prefer a bikepacking bicycle to a trail bike. Like I've said before, I like riding to nature parks and interesting places.

My pimped ride - Folding Mountain bike

I'm waiting for my bike camera bag to arrive so that I can hang it on my handlebar instead of my camera backpack. I already have a backpack for carrying my waterbag and other loose items. Since I bought my mountain bike, I'm really enjoying cycling again.

Also, I get to cycle to places that I never thought even existed. Beautiful nature that exists in sometimes secluded areas that we concrete dwellers didn't even know about. Isn't it funny that you've been living for years in a country and didn't even know that such beauty is just around the corner?

Finally! Got a new dumbbell with an adjustable barbell set. I've been wanting to get them for a long time. It's only recently that I started to exercise again. Mainly, because I wanted to get rid of my big tummy. I yearn for the days when I had a six-pack. Lol!

After finishing my national duty in the military and being a civilian, I didn't really do much training anymore. I also had a slipped disc and was advised not to do any standard sit-ups. That's probably when my stomach started to get bigger and bigger.

Isn't it kinda weird that you don't notice how your tummy slowly gets all bloated throughout the years? Everyone, been talking about how big my stomach is and so, after my recent birthday, I decided to start exercising again. But, I still had to be careful.

I had to start slow because of my back and knees problem. I'm also getting older and sometimes you forget you're not 20 something in the military doing all that running and jumping. I also used to train in the gym but I find that mental toughness missing.

I also got myself a new job and what's great is that it's near my house. I've always wanted to get a job near my area so that I can cycle to work. Cycling is also a great way to train your fitness and even lose weight. I actually already lost some weight and I felt so excited.

Now, I'm using my new folding mountain bike that's more powerful and faster than my other first foldable bike. Okay, that's my personal opinion after using both of them to and fro to work. Even my colleague said that the mountain bike is much more suitable for me.

Cycling is a low-impact exercise and is great for my bad knees. Although, I can still feel pain in my left knee when cycling. I'm starting to love cycling and when I reach home, now I can train with my new dumbbell set too. Yesterday, I tried them out and it sure feels great to do weights again.

I like the kettle design and I've never used it before until yesterday. Great for my front shoulders. You can also use it for your stomachs. One thing though is that, I think, I need to buy another set so that I can use the dumbbells as I'm already setting it like a barbell.

I'm actually waiting for the exercise bench that I ordered but it hasn't arrived yet. I can do a lot of the standard dumbbell and barbell exercises with the bench. I bought one that you can do leg exercises and also support for the biceps.

I'm not really aiming to get big muscles. Just an athletic fitness body with a nice 6 packs. I'll have to be careful when doing all these exercises as like I've said, I have a slipped disc and bad knees. I don't want to end up in pain in the hospital again.

I decided to get myself a folding mountain bike because my current folding bike, for some reason isn't suitable for me. From the start, I had a problem with it. Granted, I haven't ridden a bike for decades. But, I slowly got my own rhythm.

I had a problem with the gears while riding and keep changing until even the chain came off. Thank goodness, it's pretty easy to put it back and I still arrived to work in time. I also had a problem with the tires. But, once, I bought a tire pump, from then on, the ride gets easier and faster.

Frankly, I always thought that a mountain bike is much better for me. I used to have one but I gave it away to my cousin's husband a long time ago. I wanted a bike because recently, I got a job near my house. I wanted to save traveling costs and also try to get my fitness again. 

If you have been reading a few of my earlier posts, I've been wanting to get my six-packs back. I'm tired of everyone joking about my big tummy. I also thought it's time to get back some kind of fitness for myself. I don't want to be old and fat.

Finally, I got my Shimano bike gear folding mountain bike and I'm really loving it. From the first test ride to using it to and fro to work, it really felt like home. The gear shift works pretty well and I actually arrive at work much faster with less energy or rather sweats.

The thing is, the folding bike that I've been using has actually helped me lose around 1kg. I used to weigh around 74.7 kg. Yesterday, it was 73.4kg. Not much, but it shows that cycling to work, it does help me lose weight. Albeit, slowly.

I'm pretty happy when I see that I'd lose a bit of weight. That means, my bike investment has paid off. My target is to get my weight down below 70kg. I used to weigh around 63-65kg before I stop doing any kind of exercise because of my back slip disc.

The most important thing for me is to get the old six-packs that I worked so hard for in my school gym almost 29 years ago. Yup, a pretty long time ago. I was also preparing physically before joining the military. That's why even though at my age now, I wish to at least stay lean and fit again.

Another thing about cycling is the low impact on the knees. I have both bad knees. My right knee is starting to act up. Although, my left is much worse. I bought a knee brace the other day and tried it today to work. It actually helps support my knees when cycling and working.

I thought it'll be too tight and uncomfortable. But, I actually forget that I was wearing it. I only bought the knee brace for my left knee. Since it helps, I plan to get for my right. I've already started recommending to my friend and sis if they'll be interested.

Well, I'm really glad that I bought the folding mountain bike. Although, I have bad comments about it on my youtube video. Who cares bout the haters. The most important thing is that I'm benefitting from the bike and I'm really enjoying my ride. Loving it!

I have many friends that like to go riding and besides them, I saw many others that use the 20-inch wheels foldable folding bike. I'm not into riding but, since my new workplace is a little closer to home, I decided to get the popular folding bike.

The folding bike arrived a couple days later and of course, I make a short video of it. Check it out here. This bike is definitely different in design than your old usual ones. I have also never thought that you'll need a 7-speed bike.

One thing I like about the bike is the low frame. I'm not that tall and now I don't need to get my legs over the seat. Especially, when I was a kid learning to ride a bicycle. It's much easier to just slip in from the inside. I was actually thinking if I want the mountain bike type or this modern design.

I guess when you see almost everyone using the new type of bike, you get curious too. Definitely interesting is that you can fold the bike in half. It was a little hard to open up the latch and then fold it. I'm not sure if there's supposed to be grease or oil for the hinge.

I have seen some rider fold it in half and take the train. Pretty convenient and it doesn't take much space. Part of the reason they allow it. For now, I don't have a need to fold my bike. Would be useful if I need to. If you have a car, you can fold it and put it in the trunk.

I used to see people putting their bikes on top of the car. You need to install a bike holder or something. Why not just put it inside the trunk of the car. That's how useful a folding bike is. I think, if everyone uses a folding bike, it will also save parking space and more bikes can be park too.

Another reason, I wanted to buy a bicycle was because I wanted to exercise. I haven't been exercising for a long time and I wanted to trim my tummy. I thought of buying maybe an Elliptical Exercise Machine. But, since I can ride to work, getting one is a no-brainer.

Frankly, I thought it would be an easy ride to work. But, a few mins into it, I was already feeling poop out. I actually stop a couple of times to catch my breath and gives my legs a rest. My left knee also hurts. I've had a knee problem for a while.

In the old days, people don't wear a helmet when they rode their bicycles. But, it's pretty common nowadays. My mom showed me a bike helmet picture and I thought, why the hell not. So, I got one. Can't wait to wear it to work this Monday.

Lol. I've never been this excited about riding a bike to work. Of course, you can also use it for leisure and with friends or family members. Some of my friends ride through the night. They'll go with their son or best buddies. They'll even post their travel map.

I don't think with my current fitness, I can travel that long distances. Especially, if it'll cost my back and knees to hurt. Maybe, who knows, in the future, I'll be able to do that and have a fun bike ride through the country. Nahhh ...
