I bought new cheap 46 pcs socket wrench set from china

Amazon Basics Mechanic's Tool Socket Set With Case, 145-Piece

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I decided to get myself a new socket wrench set to use to work on my bicycles. It has everything that I needed, so far. I like that it comes with a well-organized case. Also, it's not that expensive. I'm not a pro who only works on my bike or home DIY, once in a while.

I do like to splurge on some branded tools that I love. My favorite owned is the Black & Decker brand. I like the design and the orange+black colors. Been using them for years and they still work fine. I do use other brands that are provided at work though. Bosch and Hitachi are the usual suspects.

The one I bought is the 46 pcs socket wrench set from China. It's cheap and has most sizes of what I need to work on my bicycle. Of course, I can also use it for other works as it also has the screws and Allen key sets. For some reason, I love using tools and house repairs too.

When I learned woodworking and metalworking at school, I wasn't really interested then. But, I basically learned how to use the tools needed. The same when I took the automotive engineering courses. We also did some metal machining. That was pretty interesting and needed good skills.

I actually wanted to go to commerce class. But, my teacher said, guys should go to technical class. lol. Well, although, after all that, I wasn't interested in doing technical work. It was only when I worked as a building tech that I found it fun to work doing technical stuff.

I'm a little lazy to do those kinds of work. One thing is for certain, the more you do that kind of work and work with tools, the more experience and confidence you get. I also learned a lot. I even learned how to correctly hold a hand drill. One contractor boss told me a tools engineer taught him how.

I prefer to own the tools rather than borrow them from others. This way, I can quickly take out the tools and work on my DIY. Recently, I bought a new fridge that's taller than my old one. I had the idea of cutting part of the cabinet so that it could fit in.

I tried waiting for my old colleague to lend me a portable saw. Well, after two weeks of waiting, I decided to buy my own. I decided to get a portable reciprocating saw. This saw is actually pretty good and powerful. However, the battery dies rather quickly.

ALTOCRAFT 12V Cordless Reciprocating Saw with 2 Batteries, Portable Small Power Cutter w/Clamping Jaw, Variable Speed, Tool-Free Blade Change,3 Saw Blades for Wood/Metal/PVC Cutting

I've already used the wrench set to do some part replacements on my bicycle. It is really useful. Especially, when you have different sizes. What's also useful is the different holder or extender. Which makes the jobs easier. Once you have the tools needed the workflow becomes smooth.

I know not everyone has tools and that they usually borrow from friends or from work. It's really a hassle. Like, I've said I waited for my ex-colleague to bring over the portable saw but probably because of work, he couldn't come. That's why having your own tools is much better.

My Main Desktop Monitor and 2 Portable Monitor DIY Setup

UPERFECT Two Portable Monitor deal!

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I finally, decided to get a 15.6-inch portable monitor for my main PC desktop setup. I already have one 13 inches. Yeah, I know, it'll look uneven. Well, I can always buy another 15.6 inches and use the 13 inches with my laptop.

I'm actually, prefer to get the portable monitor with the attachment for it. I'm hoping for the price to go down a little. Also, am looking for a little better design. The current ones look a little too bulky to me. If the choice is limited that means, the market isn't there yet.

UPERFECT Portable Monitor

While waiting for my new portable monitor to come, I decided to clear some spaces for it. Did some quick measurement to hang my left and right speakers of my main pc monitor. Took out my old and trusty power hand drill and voila!

A good idea to take out my main monitor first.

My trusty old Decker Power Hand drill!

Drilling the first hole.

Normally, a contractor would use a vacuum to suck out the drill dust. Unless you prefer cleaning it up later.

I use a standard wall plug cut into half before screwing in the screws.

Now, it's ready to test and hang my left speaker.

Looks good. And, exactly where I wanted it.

My toolbox. I used to work as a building maintenance guy. Some of the tools I bought were for my workplace. They don't supply everything to us. I brought them home once they send me other places.

Now, it's time for the right speaker. I already did both of the measurements and markings.

Both speaker's position is done!

Now, for some wiring management. Don't really have to do much. I can't hide it because I have a hanging tabletop fixed to the wall.

Looks like a little cramp. I guess it'll do for now. I don't have much space to work with anyway.

Temporary, I'll put the 13-inch portable monitor in the middle. Once, my 15.6-inch portable monitor arrived, I'll shift it to the right. The 15.6 will be my main monitor to work on. I prefer using the main pc monitor on top for watching youtube and movies.

Tada!

I can't wait for my 15.6-inch portable monitor to arrives. I can have Whatsapps and social media use on the right while working on my blog on the left.

I actually have a big screen Tv on the right, which I only use for console gaming. Of course, I can also watch youtube with it while I'm in bed. I can also watch local Tv shows if I want to. Now, I can use a digital signal areal instead of a cable from the main source.

Looking at my computer setup today makes me reminiscences the old days. When I first bought my main computer with loans. It cost me 3 months worth of pay. And, it was the top of the line with windows 3.1. I can't even remember the brand.

Fast forward to the future and here we are in 2020. In the middle of the Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic. The thing is, I've kept myself busy doing videos and posting articles on my blog. Tech actually kept me sane while everyone is talking about depression or whatnot.

All I can say is, if you stay indoors, keep yourself busy doing your own projects and prepare when things going to finally turn around, you might get to catch that big wave that surfers been dreaming of. There will always be a bad time. But, with bad time, you know the good time will always be around the corner. You just need to be a little patient.

I'll be posting about my new setup once my 15.6-inch portable monitor arrives. So, stay tuned!

Adeept RaspArm-S STEM Robotic Arm Kit for Raspberry Pi

Adeept 5-DOF Robot Arm 5Axis Robotic Arm Kit Compatible with Arduino IDE | Programmable Robot DIY Coding Robot Kit | STEAM Robot Arm Kit with OLED Display | Processing Code and PDF

Hey guys,

Check it out!

If you have been reading my blog, I've been posting about Raspberry pi. I remember watching the news decades ago about a new small computer that they have made and I didn't really know what it's all about. It's only recently that I read about it that I got interested in.

One thing that got me excited was the ability to use the Raspberry pi to make a smart robot. I've always played around with Linux, at work, and the distro mini-computer that I bought decades ago. But, it's only now I learned that I can code and use the practical part of Python for robotics.

There's no feeling in trying to make something and it actually works. The good thing is that information is pretty easy to get online with just the Google search. It's true what they said, Google search is your friend in finding information.

I've already managed to make my own Raspberry pi robot. You can watch the video here. That's also how I discovered Python and how easy it is to use it to control your robots. Beside raspberry pi, I also played with Arduino. Which is a bit different from the Raspberry pi.

Adeept AWR-A 4WD Smart WiFi Robot Car Kit Compatible with Arduino UNO R3, Line Tracking, Ultrasonic Sensor, ESP8266 WiFi, Processing, DIY Robot Kit with Mobile APP and PDF Manual

The Raspberry pi can also be use as a desktop computer or laptop. You can install any Linux distro on it with just the Micro SD card. I already bought a couple of Raspberry pi with one used as my retro gaming console. Another, for the robot and the last as a linux computer.

The fact that you can buy the Raspberry pi below $50 is pretty cheap and affordable as it's supposed to be for students to learn about robotics. Of course, if you're buying with kits or motors, the price can go up. But, it's still relatively cheap.

Assembling and playing with robot is fun. But, what really fun for me is being able to code and making a robot moves with it. That's where learning to code becomes interesting. As I'm just a hobbyist, I had to search and roam the internet for bits and pieces of codes.

Sometime, the code wouldn't work because it's not an updated version. That's what frustrates me. I'll then have to look for the latest that actually works. Why can't they remain the same or at least be compatible with how the code works in the past?

Learn Robotics Programming: Build and control autonomous robots using Raspberry Pi 3 and Python

Recently, Nintendo announced their new Mario Kart Live. I've actually talk about the Nintendo Switch
being used to control a Raspberry pi robot before on my blog. Wouldn't that be fun? And, now Nintendo have it in a form of a Mario Kart Live.

I wouldn't be surprise if there'll be Mario Drone or even a Mario robot. But, like I've said. It'll be more fun and educational if kids and even adults can learn to code with it. There are already lots of versions of graphical codes available, so it's not that hard to implement.

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit -Mario Set - Nintendo Switch Mario Set Edition

Nintendo has started something no other game console company has done. Turning, their games into something physical and tangible. It's more than a VR. It's something you can control and see moving in real life. And, you wonder why I love my Nintendo switch so much?

Hopefully, Nintendo will read this post, if not I can always gives them feedback, to turn their portable console into an educational platform for learning robotics. Yo, there's still no gundam robot and we already have a robot dog being sold right now!

NDS lite DIY Replacement Transparent housing shell

New Full Housing Case Cover Shell with Buttons Replacement Parts for Nintendo DS Lite NDSL Game Console-Crystal Clear

Hey guys

Check it out!

Finally, did my very own DIY, NDS lite replacement transparent housing shell, and boy it's really an experience. Especially, if you're the type don't have patient like me. Also, I'm short-sighted (Wikipedia), that' doesn't help too.

Guys, if you really want to do this, it's possible but you'll have to plan everything. Like putting each set of screws separately and not losing them. In spite of that, it's actually good practice for stripping electronic devices apart.

I'm technically trained and we're supposed to count the screws and label them or whatever. But, being the lazy type. I just put them aside and end up losing and forgetting which screws belong to where. If you have a magnifying glass, that would be great too. They're all pretty small. Obviously.

Screws are not the main problem though. Because the mainboard and the main screen are separated into two parts. And, the hassle is with the cables. I had a little problem with the black wire because they put it below the game card connector.

I didn't want to cut any wires or taking out the video cable. It's not as if I have spare parts for them. But, I had no choice. I only realize the video cable connector can just be flip-up. Also, the damn video cable had to go through the left side of the hinge.

Once, you get the hang of it, after several tries, I managed to get all the relevant wires to go through the left hinge housing. I also did my own wiring management. Use, my own scotch tape so that they won't block when closing the shell.

A couple of times, I had to unscrew and redo the housing shell because I forget some parts like the shoulders buttons with its springs (tension control) and the power or volume control. Like I said, the more you do it, the more you get better at it.

I also learn not to screw in before everything is check and tested. Oh yeah, don't throw away your old housing shell. They're actually useful for referring to how the thing actually works. That's how I discovered that you need to screw the right hinge cover which I don't remember taking out in the first place.

I also refer to the old parts to know how the directional and control buttons work. I'm glad I didn't throw away the buttons silicon part. It wasn't included with the new shell. So, I just washed it and reused it again.

Again, playing with the Raspberry Pi actually makes me realize how all the device actually works the same. When I look at the board, it reminds me of the raspberry pi and other parts that I used to play with. You can even make your own portable retro gaming device with it. Cool!

UCTRONICS 7 Inch IPS Touch Screen for Raspberry Pi 4, 1024×600 Capacitive HDMI LCD Touchscreen Monitor Portable Display for Raspberry Pi 4 B, 3 B+, Windows 10 8 7 (Free Driver)

One thing for sure, if you want to do the housing shell replacement is that you need the tools. The one that I bought, the 17-1 toolset was really useful. I actually broke one of the plastic prying tools. My mistake, as I used the light one instead of the thicker type.

Well, was it worth it? Since I succeeded in spite of some hair-pulling moments, I would say yes. Nothing but a feeling of success. Also, it looks pretty cool with the new transparent housing. Don't you think so?

My next project might be the GBC or PSP 2000 transparent replacement housing shell. I'm actually surprised that you still have all these parts available online. I mean, are there markets for them even though, they're 'old' gaming devices?
