razer phone rants - gear club racing game gameplay

Razer Phone 2 (New): Unlocked Gaming Smartphone – 120Hz QHD Display – Snapdragon 845 – Wireless Charging – Chroma – 8GB RAM - 64GB - Satin Black

Hey guys,

I'm beginning to get used to using the Razer phone as my daily driver. I've been using iPhone for a couple of years from the 2nd gen to iPhone 7+. In between, I've tried out other android and blackberry phones.

A little technical and design are different. I'm used to putting my thumb on the bottom part of the iPhone to unlock my iPhone 7+ and a couple of times, I keep putting my thumb there. Whereas the Razer phone thumbprint login are on the middle right side.

I get, that it's practical putting the thumb lock on the right side of the phone. As, most of the time, you're holding the phone using your right hand (what about left-hander?). For me, I have a habit of putting my phone on the left side of my computer table facing 45 degrees up. I'm using a phone ring to hold it up that way.

Unlike my iPhone, when I need to log in, I just use my left thumb. Apple provides you the ability to customize using both thumbs. It's practical. So, I'm wondering maybe, Razer might think of that. I think the unlocking feature is software-based, it would be easy to let us unlocked the phone with either thumb?

For now, it's a little cumbersome for me to turn the phone facing up and then having to put my right thumb just to unlocked it. I sometimes, end up picking up the phone just to see my notifications. Other than that, design-wise, it's beautiful black almost like a blackberry, business phone.

I might be nitpicking but, why Razer decides to have a charger using both sides USB-c cable is beyond me. I mean, most people would want to backup their phone or transfer files to their pc. So, isn't it practical to have a USB to USB c head instead?

I had to buy an extra cable just so, I can transfer my video to my pc. In all, I paid a few bucks more for my casing, ring holder and USB to USB c cable the other day. Of course, you can also use it to charge (albeit slow) while transferring files. Oh, the phone is also not linked to the razer synapse?

Holding the phone to play games doesn't feel awkward at all. Although, my casing makes my grips better as the back of the phone are really smooth to the touch. I was always afraid to hold the phone as I'm afraid to drop it. Getting a ring holder is really useful for a better grip and as a stand.

My bro-in-law asked me, why my case didn't cover the phone speaker. I think he's afraid, it might easily be knocked off. So far, I haven't got any problem with both speakers. I wonder though, in the long run, will dust or even water might enter through the open holes?

As a whole, this is not a bad phone at all. Maybe, it's not on par with the Samsung S9 that's coming out soon. I might be wrong as I haven't got any experience with them. Comparing it with my last iPhone 7+ or even the iPhone 8 plus, I think it depends on your preferences.

IOS to me is what makes the difference. I still miss using iMovie. In fact, I borrowed my nephew iPhone 6 to take and edit the video above. There's also no Garageband which I sometimes use to dabble with. Other then that, there's not much different to my daily usage.

I do feel as if my iPhone 7+ battery was a little better though. With the razer phone, I have these feelings of needing to look out for the battery level. I don't have these 'feelings' when using my iPhone. Most of the time, I'll charge at night and never worry about it till the next evening.

Maybe, I'm not used to using it yet. It's still early days. Especially, since, I haven't used an android phone for a long time. The only reason, I bought the Razer phone was because it offers something different. In design and OS. I was a little disappointed with the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

It might be more powerful but design wised, it's the same. Hardly, anything to shout about. Although, I kinda like the space grey color that my nephew bought the other day. There is news about two new iPhones coming out soon. Let's see what Apple can conjure up with.

If you're into mobile gaming on the android phone then definitely check out the Razer Phone. Razer fans would not be disappointed. Check out their reviews on Amazon!
