Is Cycling the Ultimate Exercise? #cycling #cyclinglife #cyclinglifestyle

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Is cycling the ultimate exercise?

Well, for someone with bad knees, it's certainly one of the best low-impact exercises I can do without worry. Recently, my left knee kept giving me problems. I'll wake up feeling pain and not being able to bend it. After putting on some gel and taking vitamins, it'll be alright.

The next morning, it'll happen again. Maybe, I'm getting old. Things we used to do when we were young and healthy. Just a distant memory. lol. Right at the time, when I discovered the joy of cycling again. However, I can still go hiking and photography.

To quickly answer the question is cycling the ultimate exercise? For me, is yes. Some may say, it's swimming. I used to see old men and women slowly doing laps with the frog style. I wish I could swim like them. But, for some reason even after doing lessons, I can't.

I believe it's because I have short breath. Ok, maybe I just suckz at swimming. An added plus to cycling is that I love cycling to places with beautiful scenery. I love the greenery and the sound of birds or bugs. I love the beautiful quiet beaches where there's nobody else but me.

Cycling is such a joy for the young and old. Sometimes, I felt like a kid again when cycling. It's also a great adventure. Some people like to cycle to faraway countries or just nearby. You can also cycle and camping. Like I've said, I love to cycle and do some photography.

Night or day, it all depends on you. I have friends who invited me to go cycling at night. I very much prefer cycling in the day. Yes, it's hot. But, you can't see much at night. Sometimes, it's already night by the time I reach home. It's also dangerous as certain places don't have good lighting.

My main reason for cycling is to exercise and lose some weight. I also wanted to maintain some level of fitness. I used to cycle to work and at the last part, before I reached work, I had to climb a little slope. I called it my 'little slope of hell'.

I'm always almost out of breath when I reach the top of the slope. I wasn't able to cycle to the top in the first few months. It wasn't until I bought myself a foldable mountain bike with better gear ratios that I did it. Even then, if I don't feel well, I would just push it up the damn slope.

One thing strange is that it was easy going up the slope using a fixie. When I tried riding up the slope it was rather easy although it's just using a single speed. I'm wondering if it's because of the direct link from the crank to the tires.

There was also another time that I had to climb a rather steep slope which wasn't there before. It used to be a straight flat route but a diversion was made. I was afraid of my knees because I rarely stood up on my bike. To me, a fixie is a great bike to train up power in your legs.

a nice day ride on my new fixie fixed gear single speed bike #fixie

Superteam 88mm Carbon Clincher Fixed Gear Bike Wheelset 23mm Single Speed Wheel

Hey guys,

Check it out!

So, I didn't plan to go out cycling yesterday as the weather forecast says, it gonna rain the whole day. Well, it did rain in the morning but then it got sunny. I decided to take the chance and went out cycling on my new fixie aka fixed gear, single-speed bike.

It was a little cloudy but with a bit of nice blue sky. A little hot but just enough to have a good ride out. It did rain in the evening but I was lucky to be home by then. I'm a little surprised cycling on my fixed-gear bike. Thinking, it will be a bit tough with just a single gear. Boy, was I wrong!

I went on my usual cycling route, stopping at my usual places. Some certain bridges and areas have been worked on. There's a part where it's supposed to be a straight route but turns out I had to climb a little steep slope. Didn't think, I would be able to climb on my fixie but I actually did.

I have bad knees, so naturally, I was hesitant to do any hard climbing. I did wear a knee guard for my left knee. That's what is so surprising. My first thought was that, since I cycled to work and always had to pass my little 'slope of hell' every day, I inadvertently trained myself, enough.

Cycling to work every day has helped me maintain some level of fitness. Cycling is basically the only exercise I do. lol. Although the distance was short, I always had to huff and puff near the end because of my little 'slope of hell'. Also came with the price of having a strained hamstring and knees.

Cycling is supposed to be a low-impact exercise, especially for the knees but it seems to make my knees worse. A couple of weeks ago, I couldn't ride my bike much less walk because it hurts. The knee joints rubbing against each other. Thankfully, it got better after I used medicated oil daily on it.

I also decided to buy some vitamins that actually help maintain my knees better. Sometimes, if I forget to take them, I can feel my knees starting to hurt again. Now, I realize that knee joint vitamins do help make them better. So, I try to take them daily.

I love my Apple Watch Ultra and iPhone health app. Now, I'm not walking, hiking, or riding blind. I know so far my highest heart rate was 157BPM. Yesterday, my overall cycling distance was 23.9km. I did have a couple of stops and didn't really push myself except for some of those slopes.

6KU Track Fixed Gear Bicycle

I really had a fun day cycling on my new fixie that I've mod myself. I changed new wheelsets, handlebars, pedals, cranksets, bike stems, etc. To finally be able to ride it was an awesome feeling. I'm glad, I decided to go out cycling. Cycling always makes me happy and alive!

Check out some of my fixie pics below:

Riding a fixie is really fun!

Another reason I think that I could actually climb slopes is because of the fixed gear. Which is directly connected to the crankset and to the wheelsets. I can feel the strong tire gripping the ground. Of course, it helps that my knees didn't buckle. Though, I did feel a little strained near the end of my ride.

For the life of me, I still can't do a skid on my fixie. I'm afraid to stand up because of my bad knees. I need to ride more on my fixie before I start to learn to do some simple skills. I'm still a fixie newbie. Still learning about my new bike. One thing is for sure, a fixie is really a cool bike to ride!

I bought and change new mountain bike mtb handlebar hand grips with end plugs stopper

ENLEE Bike Handle Grips Mountain Bike Handlebar Grips Cover Non-Slip Soft Rubber Handle Bar Grips Bicycle Hand Grip for BMX MTB Downhill Folding Bike Grips

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I love working on my mountain bike parts. Although my current Raleigh mountain bike is still kinda new, I decided to change the handlebar handgrips to a different design and color. This time, I chose light green. I think it mixes well with my red handlebar and bike stems.

I'm actually waiting for some new parts for my foldable mountain bike. I'm having a problem with the bike cassette and thought, might as well upgrade everything all at once. A guy I met at a traffic light advised me to change the bike chain. He thinks it is the one that's causing the problem.

Yup! I have people compliment my bike while riding it to work. They like what they see and one guy even exclaims how beautiful my cheap foldable bike is. I've changed the handlebar to a colorful type. Changed to different colors and design handgrips.

My bike pedals are also colorful type too. I put bike frame stickers on it that also act as protection. There are many mud guard designs too. I love the colorful type. I only recently decided to put on a frame chain guard when I saw how dirty it always gets. I didn't really care at first though. lol.

My foldable mountain bike is over a year plus old now and I still remember someone commenting on my youtube video that it's a cheap useless bike. You can see the #shorts video here on my Youtube channel. I've learned that it's built like a tank and I've traveled far and wide with it.

I use my folding mountain bike mainly for commuting to work. I also use it as my test bike. I pretty much learned how to change or repair parts with it. I also bought the necessary tools so that I can work on them quickly. I basically learn through trial and error.

The weird thing is, I studied automotive engineering for 2 years. Got my certs and all but I already got bored by the first year. My schoolmate was the one that urged me to join him but then he went AWOL on me. Years later, I discovered that he took a different class and now working in the oil industry.

I didn't join the automotive workforce but working on my bikes makes me feel like I'm coming back to my technical roots. Anyway, as I've said, I'm waiting for my bike cassette, shifters, and chain to arrive. I've never changed a bike cassette before. I'm upgrading from the original 7 to 9-speed type.

DJC Bike Crankset 104BCD with Chainring BSA Bottom Bracket with Spindle for MTB 1x 2X 3X Speed Mountain Bike Black Red Oilslick 170mm 175mm

In the future, I might want to change my bike fork and crankset. I've already done some surveys of the parts that I like. Again, I've never changed them before. So, it'll be a challenge for me to do them. It ain't gonna be pretty but I'll learn from the mistakes.

Hopefully, not too big a mistake but the experience would be good. I've even thought about buying parts and fixing them myself and then selling them off the bike to anyone interested. Most of the bikes on sale have generic designs and colors. Some might like my work.

I actually put out my folding mountain bike for sale and got some interest in it. I should have sold it before I had a problem with the bike. lol. Now, I have to spend money and repair them before being able to sell. But, having worked on it, makes me a little reluctant to sell.

my new Ratchet Tool Wrench Repairing MTB mountain Bike Quick Hand release socket

Bikehand Bike Bicycle Repair Tool Kit with Torque Wrench - Quality Tools Kit Set for Mountain Bike Road Bike Maintenance in a Neat Storage Case

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I'm buying tools that would help me do work on my mountain bike. I decided to get a ratchet tool wrench that would make it much easier and faster. I used to study in a technical class and went on to study automotive engineering. Though, I never went on to further my studies or work in the auto industry.

Anyway, since I got my current mountain bike, I've been buying parts and changing them myself. For some reason, I enjoyed doing it. Kinda relaxing. Funny, I wasn't really interested in working on cars back in my school days.

Of course, working on a bike is much easier than a car. One thing for sure, working on a car or a bike, you need tools. I had a problem just changing the brake cable the other day because my old cutter wasn't good enough. Hence, I decided to get a new cable cutter.

Once the cable cutter arrives, I might change my rear brake cable next. Just wondering what cable housing color I want to change to. I already changed my front brake cable with new red housing. It's coming around nicely!

14 Pc Extra Long Hex Bit Sockets Allen Wrench Mm+SAE

Nowadays, bike makers don't use screws with the minus or plus head anymore. All you need now is an Allen key. I saw a video where the bike tech use a ratchet to tighten all the screws. Looks pretty easy to work with than fumbling with your screwdrivers.

Okay, you might not fumbles with tools but I do, a lot. I also have a problem with my hands going numb and now it actually hurts to whole things for long. I don't know why. I didn't go and see a doctor. You might laugh but my left-hand middle finger is now permanently numb.

Okay, you can laugh about it. I might have broken some nerves in my hands or something. It's getting harder to work on things. I can't even hold my bike grip for long without getting numbs. I'll have to shake it off while cycling.

In spite of the problem, like I've said before, I still love doing bike work. I pretty much got used to doing things and stopping halfway to let the numbness go away. Right now, I'm typing with the numb in my middle finger. I'm practically just using the fingernail to type.

Dynacraft 26" Slick Rock Trails Bike

When I bought the ratchet wrench, I didn't think of getting the Allen key socket set. Now that I have the ratchet wrench, I need to order them. It'll definitely be easier and faster for me to work with a ratchet to screw and unscrew the Allen hex screws.

My ultimate work will be to change my bike crankset and front bike fork. I have never changed them before so I'm trying to buy all the tools that I needed before starting. I don't want to halfway through only to find out I needed a special tool or something.

My foldable folding mountain bike at Japanese Cemetery Park

I need my bike to commute between home and work. I still have my other foldable bike. So, just in case, I f**k up the bike, I can use it. Anyway, at the moment, I'm just relaxing at home before going out on a planned bikepacking trip to more nature parks trails.

my new red color mountain bike brake cable kit set #shorts

Glarks 81Pcs Stainless Steel Bicycle Cable Cutter and Bike Brake Cable Shifter Cable with End Caps, O-Rings Set for Mountain Bike, Road Bike

Hey guys,

Check it out!

First off, my niece who is staying with me, and my mom got infected with the Covid-19 virus. I don't know which variants and she's not sure how she even got infected. She came back from her shooting training and tested positive. None of her colleagues were infected.

The good news is that both my mom and I tested negative. Kinda a miracle. Even her brother who was showing her some martial moves at my sis house, we were celebrating her birthday, he just learn at his police academy was negative.

My niece looks ok and I guess she got a mild version of the virus. Maybe, that's why we didn't get infected too although we were living together. We usually don't use the same plates or cups to eat and drink. She sleeps in the main hall while my mom and I have our own rooms.

I use the main toilets while she shared with my mom. We live in a public apartment building. So she could have got infected while returning home. Somebody in the building or the common area might be infected. There are many scenarios on how we can get infected.

corki Bike Brake Cable Housing Kit for Mountain Bike Green

Anyway, yesterday I realized while Whatsapping my friend why my front brake cable seems to get shorter. I had bought a bike stem extender and spacer to make it higher. I have a slipped disc and making the handlebar higher would stop me from having back pain.

That's why I decided to get a new brake cable kit. I should have bought a cable cutter too because all my old wire cutters weren't sharp or good enough. I had a problem cutting the cable. The cable keeps unwinding and won't move smoothly when I test the brake.

JGbike Shimano MT200 MTB Hydraulic Disc Brake Set for Mountain Bike Bicycle MTB XC Trail, e-Bike, Fat Bike, The Best Upgrade kit for Mechanical Disc Brake

I only realized the problem of my brake not working normally when I took out the cable from its casing. I end up using a new cable line but this time I try cutting it nicely so that the cable won't unwind when I insert it through the casing again.

This time, it went through smoothly and I didn't have to redo the fitting on my bike. After adjusting the brake cable tension it now works as it should. And, I must say, I like the bright red color in contrast to the black ones. I'm already thinking of buying a different color set for my rear brake.

RUJOI Bike Disc Brake Kit, Aluminum Front, and Rear Caliper, Full Aluminum Alloy Bicycle Brake Lever, 160mm Rotor, Mechanic Tool-Free Pad Adjuster for Road Bike, Mountain Bike

It's funny when every time I thought it'll be easy to change my bicycle parts and I end up stuck for hours trying to take it out or fit in a new one. You really need to have the right bike tools before you do anything. But, at the end of the day, I feel it's really worthwhile.

I learned from the needless mistakes that I made and I felt more confident in fixing my own bike. I already felt regret giving away my old pink mountain bike. I could have done work on it and made it seems new again. Well, you learn from your past mistakes.

Red color brake kit set

Fit into my new gold color two-finger brake.

Now, the brake cable is not too tight because I raise the handlebar higher. I might buy a different color set next time. How bout green or white or maybe yellow? It's actually fun to DIY and work on your own bike. I've already noticed people eyeing my bike at traffic stops.

A guy at work claim how beautiful my bike was. I think it was yesterday that someone on youtube commented about my colorful handlebar. I'm planning to get a colorful crankset for my bike soon. I need to buy some tools first before I get them.
