Nikon Coolpix P950 - Midnight View From My Window

Nikon COOLPIX P950 16MP 83x Optical Zoom Digital Camera (26532) USA Model Deluxe Bundle Kit -Includes- Sandisk 64GB SD Card + Large Camera Bag + Filter Kit + Spare Battery + Telephoto Lens + More

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I've been dabbling with the settings of my Nikon Coolpix P950 and I'm quickly learning how things work. There are certain things, I'm still discovering though. Like, when I took the midnight view video from my window, I think I could have used the dial on the left side of the camera to focus.

I should have left the settings to AF aka autofocus. I was wondering why the camera didn't autofocus at a certain area. I might have set it to manual earlier. That's why I don't like to meddle around and just left everything to Auto. Especially, when I'm trying to take a photo or video quickly.

The camera obviously comes with the manual booklet but I found the Nikon Coolpix P950 Online Manual website which is pretty useful. I spend most of my time on the computer and find it much easier to quickly search and read the online version.

In spite of that, I actually think the video capability is not bad. Although, when I look back, there seems to be a lot of noise. It's only after my edits and saving it to 1080p to upload to my youtube channel that the video is much sharper. Especially, with the low light.

I read an article yesterday that taking videos and pictures in 4K is much better. Even though the file size will be much bigger. One guy said that he took videos in 4K and then save it to 1080p for youtube. It's much better to downgrade from 4K as the quality will be much better.

I'm actually waiting for my SD card to arrive. I couldn't find one from the shops near my area. Nowadays, people prefer to use MicroSD cards. There is a lot of debate on which one is better for the camera. Temporarily, I'm using a MicroSD card with an SD adapter. Seems to work fine for me.

MicroSD card technology has definitely improved. All thanks to social media. People are using their mobile phones to take quality pictures and videos for their Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube. Speed is important. I saw a video review where the speed of the SD and MicroSD cards seems to be on par.

In another video, I learned that for storage it's much better if you buy several smaller sizes instead of one whole big size. The reason being, you don't want to lose all your pictures and videos which you keep in that 256 or 512GB. That's a whole lot of projects to lose in one card.

For me, I believe, it's much better to use one card for one project. Like, if you're traveling to France for a holiday, just buy storage that's enough for that. If you're taking wildlife in the park, then buy one for it. You can then keep it stored in the card as a backup once you're done transferring, editing and uploading.

Personally, I have lost data from both the SD and MicroSD card. Maybe because of too much usage. It's more with the physical expect of it. Heck, last year, my freaking computer HDD died on me. That's almost 1TB of data. All my pictures, documents, videos, games, etc. Luckily, most of my photos and videos are up on Google photos.

I'm really enjoying learning and using my Nikon Coolpix P950. Like, I've said, I had wanted the P1000 for the 3000mm zoom. But, P950 83x zoom isn't that bad either. I'm still waiting for a good view of the moon from my apartment kitchen. That's my main aim for getting the P950.

Sometimes, the moon will seem so near and so big that I wanted to take picture of it. My smartphone isn't good enough. That's why I wanted the best camera that can zoom in and take good pictures. I'm still learning though. I had to re-take the midnight view video several times before I was satisfied.

I love the design and feel of the camera. It's a tad heavy but I guess, you'll get used to it. I used to be in the military infantry carrying my M203. It's a combination of the M16 Rifle and M203 Grenade launcher. I don't know why holding a camera reminds me of holding my weapon. Lol.

I'm also happy that my HP laptop is good enough and can be used without any kind of lag for transferring, editing videos, and uploading to youtube. I also tried the camera WIFI and Bluetooth connection and it works fine. Next, I'm downloading and trying out the Nikon Software!
