Hey guys,

Check it out!

I've always liked dabbling with Linux. There are many different distros you can install and play around with. But, most of the time, they're basically the same. The main one is Ubuntu. And, they're all free!

Yesterday, I was thinking of finding a way to install and use Linux on my windows pc. That's when I discovered that now, you can install Ubuntu on windows. And, it was easy!

Before you jump for joy, it's not the full Ubuntu distro. You only got to use the main terminal. So, there's no Ubuntu desktop graphical user interface. For us normal folks, that's not used to using the terminal, you might find it a little weird.

Well, if you've been using Linux distros, most probably you're already used to using the terminal too. I myself, been using it to install games and apps like mps-youtube. Of course, in a normal distro, you'll use the app manager.

I'm really enjoying using the Ubuntu terminal. Oh by the way, before you install, you need to go to the control panel. Find the 'program and features' link, and click the turn windows feature on & off. Find the 'Windows Subsystem for Linux' aka WSL and tick it. Restart, and then install Ubuntu via Microsoft store.

The Ubuntu app doesn't work on Windows S. Take note of that too. Once, you've installed the Ubuntu terminal, you can use it as if you're inside a Linux distro. All the usual command works. I'm practically using it as if I'm using a Linux system. This is way cool!

I'm not really a Linux expert. But, I love searching via Google to find interesting things to learn, install, and play stuff. I even have a few raspberry pi's that you can install Debian and my favorite educational Kano distros.

My main computer is using Windows 10. Now, it's fun to be able to connect my Samsung Note 10+, android phone to use Samsung Dex, a desktop user interface. Samsung used to offer the ability of Linux on Dex. But, they stop supporting it.

I was actually looking for a Linux laptop. But, it seems to be rare. I'm not sure why. They need to build something for the general public. It's a great alternative to Windows or macOS. That's if you're interested in the full Linux experience.

There is one company that builds Linux computers specifically to your specification. Even have their own version of distro called Pop!_OS. You can visit their main site system76.com. If not, you can just install any distros on any laptop or computer. Check out the latest  ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 gaming and entertainment laptop with AMD Ryzen 9!

The Ubuntu terminal on Windows 10 though is really useful and you can already download and use it right now. I already have a laptop so, I'm going to also install it there and play the heck out of it. Now, I don't have to go through the hassle of dual boot or emulator or whatever. Awesome!

The best of both worlds!
