Finally! Bought my second-ever digital mirrorless camera and I decided to get the Nikon Z fc. Simply because of its cool retro design with all the bells and whistles. I did think I should buy the z50 instead, but I already have a modern-looking camera, the Nikon Coolpix P950.

I'm not selling my P950, yet, because there's still so much I haven't learned from it. I also love the zooming capabilities and don't need to buy expensive, bigger lenses. Though, I might, for the Z fc. In any case, for a photography newbie like me, the 28mm should be enough for now.

My next target camera is the z7ii or who knows the z9. But, they're expensive and I'll need to get better photography skills. I'll say, they're pro-level cameras. Those who need it for work. If you're not making money taking photography I don't see why you'll want an expensive camera setup.

Okay, photography hobbyists might beg to defer. If you have the money then go for it. I would too. Lol. Anyway, for now, my new favorite camera is the z fc. I really love the design. It's fun to play around with the dials control. It's actually much faster than looking around at the LCD touch screen.



Nikon Z 6II FX-Format Mirrorless Camera Body Black

The z fc is basically a z50 with a retro-looking design. You basically want a z fc because of the looks and the manual dials control. They have the same sensor. If you're not into retro design, then get the z50. Never had a hands-on of the z50 so I can't comment much about it. Oh, it's also cheaper.

Those who have the z50 recommend it over the z fc. To me, I wanted to learn how to use manual control. I find the z fc to be a fun camera to play with. I think if you're a newbie to photography like me, this would be the perfect camera. Unless you prefer the modern look and usage.



Nikon Z 7II FX-Format Mirrorless Camera Body Black

I'm not saying you can't set the other cameras to manual control. It's just that the z fc with all the dials and buttons control makes you want just fiddle with them. I'm happy just looking at it. I even put a picture of it on both my Samsung s22+ and iPhone 13 home screen.

Currently, I've only taken a few test pictures of my Samsung s22+ with the 28mm lens. From what I've seen it's really sharp. I can zoom in to the words on my phone. Testing the ISO, aperture, exposure, etc. I'm really excited to go out cycling again soon and take pictures with my new z fc and 28mm lens.



Nikon Z 9 FX-Format Mirrorless Camera Body

I've only just pick-up cycling and photography. Yes, you can travel light and just bring your mobile phone to take quick pictures and post them on your social media. But, photography with a camera is very much a different process and experience.

My nephew keeps comparing the pictures of the iPhone and my camera without realizing that it's a totally different processor and even the lens capabilities are different. My P950, can zoom to ships or boats far out at sea and take good sharp pictures.

I don't buy cycling sunglasses because I'm myopia (Wikipedia). I've asked the eyeglasses shop if they have sunglasses with degrees. Of course, they don't have them. Hoping one day, somebody out there will make 'em. That's why I prefer buying a cycling helmet with visors.

The other day, I bought a cycling helmet without a visor because it looks cool and I also got cycling sunglasses that include a myopia frame. Once it arrived, I immediately went to my local eyeglasses shop to make the glass. Since they already have my record, it was pretty fast. Voila!

I'm familiar with the X-Tiger brand as I've bought several of their products before. Once, you know and trust a company, you tend to stick with them. When I like a product design I might want to try them out. If they're good, I'll check out their other offers.

When I'm searching for a certain product, usually I look for the 'x' or cool factor. Design is really important to me and if it doesn't stand out, I don't really care if they're better or lasts longer. It doesn't mean, I don't care about the quality though.

I also like that it's not damn expensive. In fact, for the price, I'm surprised with all the extra items that came with the product. Of course, it has the myopia frame but it comes with several different color lenses, an ear-hook, a hard case, a wiping cloth, and a pouch.

Nowadays, companies don't go all the way to make their customer happy. Seldom, do you get a complete set of free gifts or items with your purchase? For example, back in the days when you buy a physical game disc, you'll get a free poster, stickers, or whatever extras.

I haven't yet gone cycling with my new sunglasses so I don't know if it's gonna be comfortable. Especially, with the myopia frame. When I test wearing it around the house seems ok. Though, I'm not used to the colorful lens. For now, I'm not going to change it to the usual black.

The colorful lens version is really nice so I'm sticking to it for now. I haven't yet tried changing the lens and the frame is supposed to be flexible but strong. I saw one of the comments from a customer who actually broke the frame while trying to change it.

The myopia frame's little hooks seem fragile to me. That's why once I've attached it to my sunglasses I ain't gonna take it out. In the future, when I want to change the lens, I'm wondering if I could change it without the need to take the myopia frame out.

I worry about that as they don't seem to sell just the myopia frame. It'll be good to buy some spare ones and keep them just in case. If need be, I can just change my glass to the same frame type. The only solution, for now, is to buy the whole package. Anyway, I'll figure it out when the time comes. lol.

Nikon Coolpix P950 Night Camera sample pictures at Bedok Reservoir Park

I had planned to go to a reservoir park after work to try to get some sunset pictures either with my iPhone, Samsung S22+, or my Nikon Coolpix P950 camera. I was hoping to finally use the magene cadence, speed, and heart rate sensor but having a problem re-connecting them.

I also had a problem putting the speed sensor on my Raleigh mountain bike's rear wheel. That damn rubber and the spoke blocking my hands. I was in a hurry trying to get everything ready but end up not using them except for the heart rate sensor which I thought was working.

I only realize when I reached home later that the heart rate sensor disconnected leaving me frustrated with no data of any kind. Even my magene c406 bike computer keep pausing and not recording. I had to manually re-press the record button while cycling.

It's kinda weird that it records correctly the route that I took but the data is all wrong. I didn't have the proper speed or cadence. I'm wondering if it's because I connected my speed and cadence sensor but I didn't put it on the bike. That's why it's all wrong.

I need to do a proper test of the bike computer and the sensors to see how it really works. I was in a hurry yesterday because I'm only able to go cycling after work and thought, I have prepared everything earlier. Also, I've only just received my magene heart rate sensor.

Well, I went ahead and did a quick check, re-setup of my HR aka heart rate sensor, and this time I bind it to the bike computer. I also edit and customized its first page to show my latest heart bpm. I think yesterday, I didn't bind it to the bike computer that's why it doesn't work properly.

I thought, I just need to connect it to the iPhone app and it'll all work out. Such a waste. Yesterday's ride was a little tough with a lot of little slopes. It'll be interesting to have a read of my maximum bpm. Guess, I can do a proper sensor test next Sat or Sunday.

I'm not a health freak but I'm beginning to have fun using all these sensors to see how I'm doing. Of course, my data won't be as good as the young and pro athletes but still knowing how you level up with them is interesting, to say the least.

By the way, check out some of these pics taken with my Nikon Coolpix P950. You can use it for night photography, but you'll need to save it in raw and edit it later. I was lazy so I just use jpeg. But, later I edit the brightness and contrast to make it as bright and sharp as my iPhone.

The two pictures above were taken with my iPhone 13 camera. It's actually way better than my Nikon Coolpix p950. Which isn't as bright and clear as this. The iPhone camera definitely has a better processor but the p950 has good long-range zoom capabilities.

I love cycling and I also love taking pictures of places I visit. I don't just bring my P950 but my GoPro Hero 10 and of course my phones. My new PROMEND R87 titanium road bike pedals arrived and I immediately go to work fitting them to my Java Veloce road bike. Yes, I know, it's not the road bike pedal with cleats. As I've explained in my last blog post, I don't have road bike shoes and I mostly cycle to nature parks and beaches.

I like visiting those places and taking pictures. Walking around in a road bike shoe with cleats won't be practical. I don't even like wearing those road cycling shirts and shorts. Though, I'm thinking of trying it out maybe in the future. Check out some of the places I've been to in this video.

Well, I tested my new pedal on my Java Veloce road bike and it actually feels good. It's a little smaller than a mountain bike version. On my commute to work, there is a lot of stops so, wearing shoes with cleats would be troublesome.

I also don't ride on the roadside but on the pathway. So, it's a slow ride having to navigate through people hogging the path. Traffic in the morning is heavy and the road isn't smooth on the side. There are cracks everywhere. I'm afraid of slipping and falling where cars might run you over.

Once in a while, usually in the evening, the road and pathway are clear and I'm able to go fast. In fact, yesterday I was able to go a little bit faster. But, I was afraid of making a mistake as it's not a smooth pathway with many metal grating and little holes.

I have fallen from my road bike before that's why I'm careful when riding on bad or slippery surfaces. Unless it's an empty road or cycling lane that's clear of other cyclists or people. Then, it's a joy to ride and go for speed. So far, I'm happy with my new road bike pedals.

I'm also starting to learn and enjoy using the magene c406 bike computer. I didn't understand how to use it at first. On my last cycling trip I was fed up not being able to link it that I decided to use the Strava app on my iPhone 13 instead. 

It's only now I realized that I've made a mistake and using the wrong app. I thought, I already bound it to the magene app at first but because I haven't been using it, I forgot. I know now how to start recording, save it and upload it to the magene and Strava app.

I'm not a professional or even an amateur cyclist. More of a hobbyist. I don't do any kind of training except cycling to work and home. But, using a bike computer and using the Strava app to check my daily stats is actually kinda nifty and fun.

I didn't think I want to at first but now I want to know my heart rate data. That's why I decided to get the magene H64 heart rate monitors. It'll be interesting to know my heart rate reading, especially when going up the "little slope of hell". Cycling is way fun!

I finally got myself a new bike pedal, and bottle holder with a cool design and colors by the brand ROCKBROS. Also got an X-TIGER portable pump with a holder which is not that big and is light. It could be helpful when you're on the road in the middle of nowhere.

I also got some pedal bolts which doesn't fit my new bike pedal. Damn it. I thought they were all the same size. Okay, I was hoping they're the same size. Well, I might be able to use it on my road bike's new bike pedal. Yes, I also decided to get one for my road bike.

I don't have a road bike shoe. So, I didn't buy a road bike pedal with cleats. I got myself a normal kind of bike pedal. When I cycle, I mostly use it to go to work and visit nature parks. Wearing road bike shoes with cleats won't be suitable for me.

I might get one in the future though, just to feel what it's like. My bike is more for my transport rather than for sports. I do use it for maintaining a certain level kind of fitness. I have bad knees and a slipped disc. Cycling is a low-impact exercise for me.

Yesterday, I used my Java Veloce road bike to work and I think, every time I ride it really feels good. Especially, when I hold the drop. Also, I always feel the need for speed and to go faster when I'm on it. Doesn't feel the same when I'm riding my mountain bike.

The way I ride though is more of the reckless mountain biker. That's why a mountain bike is more suitable for me. Especially, when sometimes, I need to cut into grass and dirt road. Yeah, I've thought of the hybrid gravel bike. But, I feel more secure going off-road with a handlebar instead of the drop bar.

Again, who knows I might decide to get one in the future. I like cycling around the country to beautiful quiet beaches and cooling green nature. Listening to birds and bugs singing from everywhere around you. I used to be lazy and just hang around my house when not working. Not anymore.

Cycling is really fun and changing some of the bike parts yourself is fun too. I'm always on the lookout for cool design bike parts. It makes my bike feel a little special. Of course, getting the look from strangers is fun too. I like when I stop at traffic lights and people eye my bike.

They'll be wondering where I get it. Most of them, I got online and from China. The bikes I bought are made in China but the Java brand road bike is a collaboration with an Italian design company. I like the design and the quality of the bikes. My RALEIGH brand is from England but made in China version.

I've been planning to get a red handlebar and bike stem for my new Raleigh mountain bike and it finally arrived. I thought of using the original black bike stem that came with the bike but decided to change it too. Since I'm changing the handlebar, might as well.

I've been eyeing the red bike stem with the dragon for a while and since I've got myself a new bike, I decided to get it. I like my bike to look cool and different from other bikes out there. Guess, it's my personal preference.

While surveying the new handlebar I found there are new carbon materials and designs. I almost bought them but aren't sure about their quality and long-lasting ability. I don't want to ride halfway down a hill and suddenly snap the handlebar.

When going riding, I always remind myself that I'm old and don't want to get hurt unnecessarily. My two thumbs still hurt when I smashed them on a metal railing earlier part of the year. When you're old, your body might not be able to heal properly.

Right now, I'm waiting for my new bike pedal and other parts to arrive. Especially, my new bike pedal by ROCKBROS brand. I found one with a nice design and color that fits my Raleigh mountain bike. I also bought Schrader valve caps, bike pedal bolts, a bottle cage, and a portable bike pump.

I just ordered a bike frame chain guard. Frankly, back when I first got my first mountain bike, I wouldn't have done anything to it. It was already beautiful and I was surprised how good the gear was to be able to go up a grass hill. Now, it's kinda fun to be able to order parts and change them yourself.

Oh, I might want to change the handlebar grips too, one day. I guess at the moment, that should be it. I'll definitely take pictures, videos and blog about it when they arrive. Can't wait for the bike pedal to arrive. Another bike project for me to do. Lol!
