I got the chance to play Geneforge 1 – Mutagen (STEAM link) which is a total remaster of the 20-year old indie classic Geneforge. With the help of a successful Kickstarter, this new game is a completely remade and greatly expanded recreation of the original.
Frankly, I kinda remember seeing this game back then. Don't think I've played it though. So, when I heard this game is going to be out soon, I was pretty interested to try it out. For your info, the game will officially be released on Feb 24th, 2021.
This is taken from part of their official press release:
Geneforge 1 – Mutagen will be one of the most open-ended role-playing games available. Choose between a host of rival factions. Use magic or your deadly pets to crush your enemies. Or, use trickery, diplomacy, and stealth to win the game without ever attacking a foe. Destroy the final boss, or switch sides and join him. Fight alone or create your own army of custom-made mutant monsters.
In Geneforge 1 – Mutagen, enter the world of the Shapers. The Shapers are wizards with the awesome power to create life. Need a servant, or a pet, or a tool, or a mighty beast to fight and die for you? The Shapers create it.
The creations of the Shapers are expected to obey completely. If not, they are destroyed. The Shapers guard their magical secrets with fanatical devotion, executing all who steal them. However, some of the Shapers' creations are intelligent, and they want their freedom. The Shapers underestimate their creations. This mistake will lead to disaster.
The coming rebellion will scorch your continent. Who will win? It will be up to you.
If you're tired of playing all the mobile games that are full of ads or don't have the specs to play the latest graphic-intensive games, this turn-based battle, adventure RPG game will definitely make you love gaming again. The storyline itself is pretty intriguing.
The power to create and destroy life like a God? The graphics might not be as flashy as the games in 2021, but if you yearn for games of yesteryears (like me) you'll definitely want to play this old but new game. As always, I hope this game will also be available for the Nintendo Switch.
Right now, the Nintendo Switch doesn't have any games of this caliber. The game is pretty deep and you can play it for hours. Planning your strategy, battling through the night, or going for a short adventure before you sleep. I'll definitely get it if it's available.
You can check out the game on the Steam Store page:
You don't really need the latest gaming laptop. But, playing this kind of game on your new laptop would still be fun. Check out some of them with the new RTX 30 series graphic card. It's also portable than a desktop. So you can play your favorite game on the go. Cool!

Finally! RealMyst Masterpiece edition is available on the Nintendo Switch. To tell you the truth, I have never played this game. Yes, I knew about the game back then, but I never get to buying and playing it. That's why, I finally decide to get it once it's available for the switch.
Now, I get it why people love the game. Although, for me, it kinda reminds me of the days, when I will constantly curse at the PC or gaming console. This game is pretty hard if you don't know what's going on or to do. Frustration is an understatement.
I'm one of those gamers that used to get violent when playing games. One time, I punched the monitor screen and get cuts between my knuckles. Another time, my monitor died and after opening up the back, I use a screwdriver and scratch it while the power is still on. Sparks were flying all over. And, I didn't care. Obviously, I didn't die of electrical shock. lol
If I didn't control myself, I would have thrown my gaming console out the window or the controller at the Tv. My PS1 died because I power it on straight without the adapter. I could still smell the burn. The games weren't even on hard mode and sometimes I simply quit playing. Those were the days!
Nowadays, you don't have to worry about being stuck in the game. You can just go to youtube and check out gameplay. You can even buy a Myst game guide book. In the game, there's a hint section you can go to if you're stuck. But, I try not to go there.
I prefer to try to find the answers and solve the puzzles for myself. I don't want any spoiler alert. I actually feel I'm more equipped to play this game now than before. Those days, you didn't know what to expect. Every game was a new story and adventure. You can't compare it to today's kind of game.
Today's gamers are more about actions and competition. Just mindless grinding and winning. They're more willing to pay for virtual stuff. That's what the game publishers love of course. Whatever happens to a good story? Whatever happens to adventure? Whatever happens to fun?
Well, I hope more good 'ol pc and console games will come to the switch. It's really fun playing on my switch lite. I can quickly pick it up and start playing. I can play it anywhere and anytime. It's also more convenient to buy a digital form of the game. Having all my favorite games in one MicroSD card is super awesome!
One thing Nintendo did right is that, sometimes, it's not just about powerful graphics and faster processors but it's all in the games. Not that, I don't care about those things. Maybe, in the future iteration, will get a switch that's on par with your Xbox or PlayStation.
Here's another game that you should play on your Nintendo Switch. It's called, The Eternal Castle remastered (link to eShop). I got to download and play the game earlier today. I actually had a little misgiving of the graphics. Afraid, that it would be hard to see, I already have bad eyesight.
Once, I start playing, I was surprised at how good and fluid the gameplay is. It's actually an interesting and beautiful graphics side platform game, reminiscence of the good 'ol 80s Pc games. I felt like I was in an 80s Mel Gibson movie. In fact, they should probably make a movie.
If they had a poster of the game, I'll frame it and put it in my room. Popular games used to have a free poster included. I have 3 Left 4 Dead posters that I framed and put beside my bed. Also, this game might be a ported version of the Pc game but it looks and play fine on my Switch lite.

Leonard Menchiari, director of the project, worked with Valve in 2011-2012 and published a game in 2017. The team worked mostly online but occasionally met up in different locations around the world to keep the emotion, spirituality, and feel alive.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast looks sharp and nice on my Nintendo switch lite. This is an old PC game. Frankly, I've never played the Pc or console version of this game. I might have. I can't remember. The game is almost 2 decades ago?
This is what I'm talking about. Having a great PC or console game for the Nintendo switch. We need more of this. Being able to play this game, anytime and anywhere on a portable console is super cool. Nobody would have believed it then if we told them this is possible.
Right now, there's a website called GOG.com aka good old games that you can buy and download to play on your PC. These are games that used to be popular and sometime the older version can't be played on your modern pc setup. Gog has worked with the original publisher or game dev to rectified or update their games.
I love to buy old games that I used to have and play. If these games are available for the switch, I'll definitely buy them too. The Nintendo Switch is definitely portable than a heavy gaming laptop. And, you can lay back on the couch or bed at night like me before going to sleep. Although. I'm getting the habit of watching youtube on my switch lite.
I definitely love my original Nintendo switch and being able to dock on Tv to play games or just watch youtube. But, for some reason, I love my switch lite more. It's more personal and being small and light is definitely a plus.
I hope one day, we'll be able to listen to Spotify or have the ability to store our music and movies on our MicroSD card. The switch doesn't have any data capability so when you're offline and you want to listen to any music or watching movies, you can't.
I know you can do both of that and better on your mobile phone. Right now, my switch lite is my main entertainment system and my phone is a backup. Also, most games suckz on the mobile. I think, my Samsung Note 10+ and switch lite is a great pair to have on the go.
What if one day, we can have the best of both worlds in one device? Would it be possible? Well, many have actually tried and failed. But, one thing good is that Samsung has created Samsung dex. Desktop-type user interface when you connect your phone to a pc or monitor via a cable.
Who knows, we might have a 'Nintendo Computer' that can do the same when connected to a Tv or monitor. Playing the latest console game on the go and docking it to check your emails or video call your colleague on a project. It's actually possible now. But, as always, success depends on the market. Who would be brave enough to do it? Nobody believed that the switch would be this popular back then. Aye?

Looking at the game promo, feel like they're going the same way as FIFA 18 (PC) Sept 29 2017. Letting you play and grow from the ground up. Kind of an interesting take for sport gaming nowadays.
Instead, of just getting into the game and win matches or championships, they make it into a story. Your story. If you like the story mode, then fine, but some players might prefer just getting it on!
My personal favorite basketball team is Chicago Bulls. Not, because, I stayed in chicago but because of Michael Jordan. Ain't, no better player than Michael and haven't been any team better than Chicago Bulls during that championship era.
That's my personal opinion!
