Goals galore and the Toon Barmy

Goals galore and the Toon Barmy

(Order online your Torres-Chelsea Shirt Click here)

I read this funny article (soccernet) on the EPL games at the weekend.

Chelsea lost to Liv 1-0 by the way. Didn't get to see it. Tried, watching it online but it lag too much and by the end the line was cut off.

If it wasn't for the idiot Singtel getting the rights to the Premiership for 3 years, I would have watch it via my Starhub Cable. It still riles me up.

Anyway, I took it as a chance for me to get away from watching football every week. I don't watch the Bundesliga, Italian Serie A or worse the La Liga mainly because of their schedule game timing. It's all way past midnight. Some of us have to work the next day you see. Anyway, those European dude in-charge not interested with asian football fans. So, who cares if they have the best league in the world if I'm not watching?

That's pretty much why the EPL is popular this part of the world. I can watch EPL games "live" at my timezone around 8pm-10pm-12-3am midnight games. They do have 3am midweek games but I don't watch that either unless it's a Champions League match that involves the EPL teams of course!

Want to know how popular EPL is to asian people like me?

I know the freaking name of all the EPL players, managers, teams, color of the jerseys and even the name of their dog. Okay, I don't know that but, you get what I mean.

Now, ask me the same thing about the Bundesliga, Italian Seria A, La Liga or other European leagues?

Can you hear the crickets?

Yeah, I know Barcelona Messi, Iniesta, Ronaldo (used to play for Man U) of Real Madrid and Eto of Inter Milan which I kinda support because Ronaldo used to play for them, no the other Ronaldo. The bald one from Brazil. Now, that's the kind of striker I Love!

It's not that I hate the other Leagues but, their timezone is way beyond my comfort zone and there doesn't seem to be any marketing. Anyway, they doesn't conjure the kind of excitement the EPL does for us soccer fans. Maybe, I'm fed too much with the EPL but it's been part of my life since like I was born!

I was ahemm.. born in the 70s and during that time the EPL was huge in my country. Liverpool, was the Champions of Europe back then. Although, every time I watch them play, they always seem to disappoint. That's why I just give up and started supporting Chelsea instead when I start to read how good Chelsea is playing under Glen Hoddle as their manager. Glen move on to take the job as England manager and Gullit took over but then half-way through, he was sacked and the manager job was given to Vialli. LoL!

Finally, when the Billionaire Abramovich took over Chelsea and got Jose to take over Ranieri as manager, my mind and heart to support Chelsea FC was cemented.

Despite, of all the criticism on his style of play, I actually like it. I like the ruthlessness, the professionalism the determination that Jose instilled to his players. I was hoping he will stay with Chelsea forever. In a way, he still has the unfinished business of winning the Champions League with Chelsea!

Alas, he's gone and after a few managers, Ancelotti took over. Although, his mannerism and style differs from Jose, he has done good winning the double last season. Just, hope he'll help win the elusive holy grail - The freaking Champions League!

Well, I guess that's all from me today. I was going to talk about the stupidity of the Thailand and Cambodia 'government' fighting over land but, maybe some other time.

For now, good day, peace.. and enjoy your football!

What can be done to improve Singapore Soccer?

I just post this err.. long comments at Yahoo!

It's about the Singapore soccer scenes. Have a read. Link, to main article included here.

---------------------------------------

S-league, should be the base for Singapore football. They should do something like the RHB cup where they call the region champions to play in it including the Malaysian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, china and maybe even top European club champions. Make it yearly. Maybe, singapore FA cup or whatever cups that could help improve the S-league level to international level. Consistent, competitions will improve our players consistently.

That, could also make the S-league team becomes more competitive locally and internationally. Only, the Top 4 team in S-league play in this competitions. So, every team in S-league have something to play, fight and strive for. Right, now the S-league team only fight for championship. What about the other Top team? What, will they get? Without, fighting for something, they will achieve nothing.

They could also separate 20 teams into something like the Serie A or Serie B of the Italian league to promote relegation. Make, teams fight for their place in S-league. Make them play harder and stronger. With, something to strive for, they will improve their competitiveness.

Money, is a good motivator too. Maybe, the pay limit should be lifted. If, they're that good then they should be allowed to earn it. If, they totally sucks, no sponsors will pay it right?

Football, careers are pretty short anyway. Why, should we stop them to earn more before they retire at say 33-37?

What if they have terrible injuries that will stop them from playing anymore?

So, maybe, the pay limit should be lifted to promote soccer as a viable careers. Of course, if they have already good educations and other technical skills, it could help secure any other kind of jobs.

If we call Singapore selection to play in M-league, might, as well we call our national team to play. It's the same as we select our best players to play for national team. Also, our level of football will be M-league level not International level? That's why we have this 'kampung' team mentality. We become only best of S.E.A not Asian or even higher at international level. To reach, international level, we need international level of competitiveness.

I, also like the idea of our S-league teams to go train maybe, at Top European clubs at the like of Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal. Maybe, at Barcelona, Inter and Ac Milan etc.

Okay, maybe not at those top level club yet, but, still they can go for e.g. the Italian serie Bs or Cs or whatever. Let, them rub shoulders with top players even if it's just for training purposes. It's also good for promoting our players to European agents. I'm pretty sure, our players although, won't be playing at European competitions but will get the experiences and bring it to the S-league. This, will motivate the various S-league teams to play better football. Hey, this top teams, sometime have a reserve team league and players. Let, them train together. Taste, the type of high-level football facilities and trainings.

The possibilities is endless for Singapore football. The thing is, don't just aim locally, but aim for international level of training and football. There's no more kampung. We are already a modern society with international exposures. Change, our mindset and aim higher to achieve higher goals!

Aim for quality of football and football experiences all around!

In spite of the attendance in S-league. I like watching it. Hey, as long as it's football, any kind of football, I like to watch. No, matter what the standard. Heck, I'll even watch the local Sunday footballers play. If you're a real football fan, you don't care. Football, is still football. It's not just watching people kicking around but also watching the tactical side of things or the lack of. Haha!

The S-league clubs should promote their team more at the local, respective areas. Their club could be improve with better facilities to encourage people to visit their club and grow their base fans with membership. Maybe, they club should have a 'makan place', gaming or entertainment center so that people just don't come for football but family oriented activities before and after they watch the football matches. It shouldn't be a mundane football night. Again, it should be a football fiesta!

The matches, should make it more family oriented like the EPL. It should be a fun fare. It should be a party. The Friday night football at Jalan Besar stadium is one good place to promote it on live television. So, that when people watch it they will think, hey, it's a fun-filled day for football fans to go to. Rope, in sponsors for the match day events. This, will help promote their products and also local football atmosphere.

In the end, we want the fans of football to come and watch us live. We, want them to come and have fun-filled day. Don't just think bout the football. Think, bout the football fans. Maybe, just maybe, the S-league will make us proud as one of the most successful story. Good luck!

Man U don't deserve the Champs Lge Cup

Yeah, that's right. They didn't show they (Man U) deserved the win on the night. Chelsea should have won it by a couple of goals. But, I guess it wasn't meant to be. John Terry cried his eyes out but I think he should be brave enough to say that it won't be the first and it won't be the last Champions League final he's going to be in.

There's still next season to look forward to. Just look at Arsenal. Everybody thought they would win the Champions League just because the beat Ac Milan the holder of last season cup. Then, look at Liverpool they have been in the quarter final and final a couple of times and win it. Chelsea need to do that. Yes, they have been to the quarter final a couple of time too but they need to do it consistently to get to the final. Then, one day, Chelsea might taste the sweet sweet taste of success of winning the Champions League. It's gonna happen one way or another. It's not the end of the world. We've still got next season to look forward to. A lot to do, a lot to win etc.

That's football for you. You win and you lose but you have to pick yourself up when you lose and win the next matches. That's football. That's also life. You need to pick yourself up when you're down. C'mon Terry and co ..you can definitely bounce back!

Good day and good luck for next season Chelsea. C'mooonnnnnnnnn !!

P.S. I'll love Chelsea FC no matter what!

Chelsea Vs Liverpool

Chelsea Vs Liverpool tonight!

Tonight (Singapore timezone) , Chelsea vs Liverpool is going to be an interesting game. It has always been a tough game between this two team. But, as always I'm supporting Chelsea for a win of course!

Both Liverpool and Chelsea has added new players to their team. Both managers are very good. Jose has won all the cups that can be won in the English Premiere League including the coveted Barclay cup EPL. Whereas Benitez might have won the Champion League but he still hasn't found the right formula to win the English League cup.

This season, Liverpool has spend BIG in trying to win back the cup they last won almost 17 years ago. Chelsea on the other hand has won the cup back to back two season in a row but lost out to Man U last season. This time round they're determined to win it back after narrowly losing out near the end of the season games.

So, today after only 3 games into the new season they met again. Whoooweee... it's going to be a good match.

I just can't wait to see who'll win this time round. Each of them has taken turn to win everytime they met so this time round isn't going to be different. Although, Chelsea will be determined to win it after losing out on the champion league final berth lost to who else Liverpool!

By the way, if you're wondering these pictures are of my nephews hanging around my house today. You know how kids are, they're all over the place disturbing the peace!

Anyway, I like to do some putting myself once awhile. I find it very relaxing. Not, that I play golf or anything. But, it's good to focus on something else besides what going on in my life. It releases some tension. You should try it. Recommended highly by me!

Right, I need to go pee. He he, so have a nice sunday. It rain the whole day today and it's very cooling. Maybe, that's why I kept having to go to the loo everytime!

Good day and don't forget to watch the game tonight!

It's Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee timeeeeee!!

Next: Well, the EPL (English Premier League) was concluded last week where Chelsea FC, became champions second time in a row. That after 50 years!

Over at the Spanish league, Barcelona also won the Spanish League and became champion twice in a row too. They are also in the final of the Champions League vs Arsenal who is in the Final after so many try and hoopla. For the couple of years Arsenal has taken over Man U FC to become the English champions which is now Chelsea time. If you notice it the shift of power has been transfered from Liverpool FC which used to win everything there is before Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea. So, it seems you can expect Chelsea to be winning EPL cup, FA cup, Eufa cup and of course the Champions League which Maurinho, Chelsea manager would be most likely be aiming for next seasons.

Maurinho has already won the Champions League cup before with Porto a team that I even didn't expect to reach the final!

So, Maurinho do have the experience and knowledge to do what it takes to win the Champion League. As far as I'm concern, for now Maurinho is the only person that can help Chelsea win the Champions League. I wish he'll stay with Chelsea forever and win all there is to win. But, of course nothing last forever. If Maurinho could set up Chelsea FC for the future then even if he leaves the club it's in good hand. Another factor will be Abromovich. The oil billionaire is instrumental in providing the money to bring Chelsea to the fore and be among the top team like Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool etc.

They are already planning to build a bigger stadium to realize that dream. Boy, it's all going good for Chelsea right now. And, I'll be waiting for the time when Chelsea FC would win the Champions league cup. They have been close this two seasons. It's only a matter of time, I believe.

Okay, I know, I'm writing too much at one time today. Hey, I haven't post for a couple of days!

I'm also watching F1 racing and Michael Schumacher with Ferrari. Alonso, and the Renault team surprise everyone last season when he won the F1 championship. Everyone, expected Ferrari to be the team to beat but Alonso came from nowhere to win the title. Okay, Kimi Raikonen might have won the championship if he didn't have problems after problems with his car, accidend and whatever. I think he's jinx!

Everyone been saying he's the fastest on the track but everytime I think he's going to win the race, technical problem let him down. I don't know, been a couple of season and Kimi still can't or maybe won't become the champion.

Let's not forget Ferrari and Schumi. They were suppose to be the team to beat but they became the team who keep losing. But, things been good lately for them. They have started winning again and it could be close this season. Will Alonso become the F1 champion twice in a row? Can Kimi get rid of his jinx? Will there be a come back for Schumacher?

WHoa!

Keep watching and you'll find out!

Alright, I have said what I wanted to say and now it's time to log out.

Have a nice sunday :)

Expect the un-expected..
