For me personally, 8gb of ram is the minimum for today's Windows 10 laptop or PC. I have a gaming pc and I bought it with Intel i7, GTX 1060 with 16gb of ram. That was a couple of years back. And, I'm typing on the pc right now. What I like is how smooth everything still is. That's what you want.

I also have an Acer laptop with Intel Celeron N4200 with 4gb of ram. It stutters once in a while. I immediately, upgrade the ram to 8gb. I wanted more than 8 but, 16gb was way over my budget. I think it cost around $100+, then. Can't really remember. Now, it runs a bit better.

My HP 15s, AMD Ryzen 7, came with just 8gb of ram. As it was on offer, I thought it'll do for now. I can always upgrade later. Currently, it runs pretty smoothly. So, I've no complained. My only complaint is the Radeon X Vega 10 graphic card.

I was pretty disappointed when I tried playing Dirt 4 as I thought, the graphic card will be able to handle it. Silly me, I thought it would be on par with my gaming pc Gtx 1060. Turn out, it's only half as good. I had to go all the way down to ultra-low to be able to play the game.

One thing I learned when I upgraded my low-end Acer laptop is that after I upgrade my ram from 4 to 8gb. I can now play some games smoothly. With just 4gb, you can't really do much. I'm not a technical expert but, that's why I say 8gb is just great for minimal laptop or pc task.

The other day, my ex-colleague told me that his wife wanted to upgrade her Pc ram from 8 to 16gb. Her pc is running out of storage and things are starting to lag. She doesn't game and uses it for her work. Just another proof that 8gb of ram just doesn't cut it anymore.

If you can afford it, get the maximum specs that you can get so that it can last you for years to come. You don't want the hassle of having to upgrade once, everything starts to slow down. Especially, when you need your computer for work.

Talking about the hassle, it was really a hassle to take out the back cover of the HP 15s laptop. I actually had to use a prying tool to take it off. I don't remember ever having to use a prying tool to upgrade ram or a hard disk. Whoever designed the laptop must think it's a good joke. 

I actually thought of just ripping the bloody whole back of the laptop. That's when I decided to search on Google for any kind of tutorial instead.

After looking at a tutorial that almost looks like my HP laptop, I decided to pry it open. It took me a while to discover the easiest way is to start from below the touchpad. I was really afraid of scratching my laptop and chipping or breaking the cover. It's still just a few days old!

While cursing at HP, I finally, managed to slowly pry open the laptop without scratching or breaking anything. It was all worth it, as I discovered that there are two slots for the Ram. So, I can easily replace them whenever I want to. 

Now, my thought is to either just buy an 8gb ram or if it's really cheap, I can get 2 x 8gb ram to make it 16. I think I'll just buy an 8gb ram and add it to the 4gb ram to make it 12gb ram. Which isn't that bad. Another 4gb of ram would do wonders. Especially, if I want to game on the laptop.

I won't do it now though. The thought of having to pry again the laptop really scares me. If anyone at HP is reading this, fire the idiot that design the back cover and making me use a prying tool just to open that damn back cover of the laptop!

So, I decided to try and play Dirt 4 on my new Hp laptop. It has the AMD Ryzen 7 3700U processor and Rx Radeon Vega 10. Although, I only have 8gb of ram and 512GB of storage. All these new games are pretty big in size. That's why I always say if you can get the bigger 1 or 2TB if possible. If not, you have to choose which games to install and maybe delete them once you finished playing.

Right up, when the game starts, it began to stutter. I checked the game custom set to Ultra-high. I remembered playing this game on my gaming pc. So, maybe that's where the setting came from. I forgot as I'm downloading from my STEAM account. I'm really surprised, as I thought, the AMD graphics card would at least be on par with my pc GTX 1060 graphic card. Apparently, not.

Ok, blame it on me not doing my research. I didn't actually buy this laptop to play games. If not, I would have got a gaming laptop. But, most of them are out of my budget. But, of course, me being curious, I tried and lowered the settings and it had to go really low. In fact, Ultra-low. Even then, it still stutters. That's why I was really, really surprised. How good is an AMD laptop?

I went for a quick search and found this website that shows the real benchmarks that Vega 10 isn't a match for the GTX 1060. Almost, half of its capabilities. It even states that most games you can play are set to minimal settings. Well, that explains the ultra-low settings I had to set to be able to play the game. Kinda a disappointment. I thought I could at least play on medium.

Once again, if or when I have the money, I want to get the Asus Rog Zephyrus G14 with the anime led lightings. Why aren't any other computer company doing this? Don't get me wrong, I actually like the HP 5s laptop. I love the size, the full backlit keyboard, and the sound which is pretty loud when gaming. I don't think, you actually need a headphone to enjoy the great sound effects.

Earlier, I tried to download and play Modern Warfare Warzone free multiplayer game and I'm surprised how smooth the gameplay is. I didn't even have to set up anything. The game set itself up, so I don't have to dabble with the settings and just play. If this laptop has a better graphic card, I would have been very satisfied. For now, I'm just happy to have a new laptop for my basic usage and occasional gaming.

If you have the money to blow, you'll want the specs above. One thing for sure, you won't have to worry about the minimal settings for a long time. And, with 2TB of storage space, download as many games as you want. Although, now I prefer the 15.6-inch widescreen and the full keyboard of my HP 5s, the G14, 14 inches will make it a little more portable.

The portability makes you want to bring it everywhere you go. Of course, without the internet, it's just a brick. That's why I prefer buying a full game that you can play offline. All these online streaming, makes you stuck to a desktop or your home. And, you have to keep paying for stuff that supposed to be already in the game. Read my past blog post and you'll know I hate this kind of 'free-to-play' game.

I think the G14 design is very modern yet a low-key design for today's gamer. As I've said before, that's part of the reason I got the HP 5s. It has a similar silver color and backlit keyboard as the G14. AMD Ryzen laptop seems to be popular as my unboxing video already has hundreds of views. Maybe, I thought, I'm the only one that's interested in the G14 design?

HP should upgrade their laptop specs to Ryzen 10 with RTX 3090? If they aren't already working on it. Yeah, I'm crazy. Lol. Who knows, they can actually do it. Haven't the Ryzen 9 already been a year? If not, it sure seems so long ago that a Ryzen 9 laptop appeared. I hope they include the anime led lights for the new laptops. It's fun to play with led lights. 

Able to play Dirt 4 only after setting it all to ultra-low.

Even in ultra-low, the graphics aren't that bad. You can slowly adjust up a bit here and there to improve the graphics. This laptop is definitely for the budget-conscious but also want the ability to play some of the latest AAA games. Albeit, with the lowest of settings.

*Update: After dabbling with the AMD Radeon software, updating my windows 10, and lowering the resolution, I can now play the game on custom low-medium. Now, it plays pretty smoothly and the graphics aren't that bad either. 

I guess, the Radeon X Vega 10 isn't that bad after all. That is after you play around with the graphics setting.

The other day, I posted about a Half-life fan-made short film. Today, I found this fan-made game with Half-life source entitled: Transmissions Element 120. This game totally remind me of the real Half-life. And, it totally freak me out the same way it did when i first played the original years ago.

The good thing is, this game is free and you can download it via steam. If you haven't yet played this game, then I encourage you to do so. It chuckled me that the developer ask you to play the game at night with the lights off. It's already night here and my room light are already off. Sooo.....

I record this short gameplay, and I hope you like it. You can see, the music and atmosphere are almost the same as the original half-life. It took me awhile to remember and get accustomed to playing it. The control are almost the same and you can grab and carry things around or use it.

I was a bit lost playing the game and needed to move back and forth to find what exactly I needed to do to move on. Just like I did when I played it the first time before. But, my reflexes still were there when the spider thing jumped at me. Lol.

In all, playing the game was fun and it bring back memories of the adventures in half-life. Hope, you enjoy the short gameplay and don't forget to download it on steam if you haven't. Enjoy!

If you're a fan of MMO and you've never heard of Guild Wars then, errr...you might be interested in looking at Guild Wars 2. I admit, I myself just tried playing the Free version today. If you're interested to check it out then Click here to signup.

Frankly, it's not much different from any other MMO and Guild Wars probably a few of them that are still able to 'stick' around since 2012. The routine might be the same as others but what I like about mmo and rpg is the beautiful graphics and scenery.

I love a damn good story and fight. I love doing quest and venturing into new world or places. That's why I never would get tired of playing rpgs and mmos. The genre have exploded exponentially since the hey days and their graphics are getting better.

Our pc or laptop graphic cards have become cheaper and that improve our experience in playing games. I think, that's part of the reasons for the booming gaming market. Right now, AMD have really step up offering better and cheaper graphic cards like the Ryzen.

In the end, the consumer or rather, us gamers, win!

Insane Redout gameplay - Aftershock gaming pc gtx 1060

Check out my Redout, insane racing video gameplay!

I was bored. I thought, I'll play Redout. Haven't played it for awhile. But, this game is fast and furious!

I remembered, someone private message me on my youtube channel, offering me to play a beta version of this same type of wipeout-ish game a couple years back. I didn't really think much of the game at that time because, c'mon, this genre isn't anything new.

I do believe, this is that same game, the finished product. I have totally forgotten about it. I got this game as a free gift when buying my Aftershock gaming pc. I was given a choice of either two games. As, I was a racing game fan, I chose Redout.

Redout, is a totally cool, immersive, fast racing game. If you haven't played it yet then check it out on steam. There's actually a free demo version that you can download right now. You might want to check the spec if it's suitable for your gaming rig though.

I don't know why, even with GTX 1060, there're moment where the game actually slowed for a few seconds. Doesn't affect much of the gameplay. I was downloading Guild Wars 2 in the background and my hard disk size are diminishing from downloading too many games.

I really need to do some maintenance on my pc.:p

Aftershock Gaming Pc GTX 1060 - DOOM Gameplay and Wallpaper!

I've been wanting to buy DOOM which came out in 2016 but had second thought about it. Since, Steam as always having sale this week, and also offering Free to play till this Sunday, I thought, why the hell not.

I haven't played any kind of Doom version for a long time. It's been maybe, 20 years?

Wait. I just remembered, that I bought an iPhone version of Doom before. Anyway, I did tried the trial version. But, it was pretty short and I was quite impressed with the graphics and gameplay. When they first demoed the game, one thing that I loved was the weapons.

I just started playing the game today, and I only got the ray gun pistol and the shotgun. I realized that the ray gun pistol was pretty useful to shoot the monster head from afar. It's like having a sharpshooter. But, when the stronger monster came out, I changed to my more powerful shotgun.

In the game, I got a little lost even with the map provided. Everything, look the same and it's all Mars red. While, shooting at the monsters or bashing their heads, I kept thinking of GOW. Feel like I'm playing the same kind of game.
