My Friend Asked Me To Recommend Laptop Below USD$980 Budget

2021 Newest Dell G5 Gaming Laptop,15.6'' FHD 144Hz Display, Intel i7-10750H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q, 64GB DDR4 RAM, 2TB PCIe SSD, Webcam, HDMI, WiFi, Backlit Keyboard, Win10 Home

Hey guys,

Check it out!

So, late yesterday night, my ex-colleague Whatsapp me, requesting advice on getting a new laptop. I thought he was joking at first as he's asked me before about re-selling my laptops to him. He already has a budget and brand in mind but not sure about the specs.

I asked him a couple of questions like does he likes to game, and what's the main purpose of the laptop. He says, he's not interested in gaming and anyway, good gaming laptops are way over his budget. He showed me a Dell laptop that he was currently looking at.

2021 Newest Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series 3501 Laptop, 15.6" FHD Display with Webcam, 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 Quad-Core Processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, HDMI, Wi-Fi, Windows 10 Home, Black

I told him I got my HP laptop with AMD Ryzen 7, Radeon Vega 10 mobile graphics, 8GB ram, webcam, fingerprint sensor, and 512GB SSD. All within the price of USD$670+. Which was coincidentally on a special sale price. I had to wait for the actual sale day to purchase it.

Of course, the price went up to around $800 after that. Last I checked, it was sold out. If my friend had asked me and the offer is still on, I would have recommended him that. The problem with getting a laptop you really want is that the specs and design vary between them.

2021 Newest Dell G5 Gaming Laptop,15.6'' FHD 144Hz Display, Intel i7-10750H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q, 64GB DDR4 RAM, 2TB PCIe SSD, Webcam, HDMI, WiFi, Backlit Keyboard, Win10 Home

The Dell laptop that my friend showed me he's looking at only has 14". I told him to get the 15.6" instead for better viewing pleasure. I'm wearing specs, I find the 15" screen is much better for my eyes. Also, it meant I would have a full keyboard with number pads.

After looking around some of the laptops, I found a Dell laptop that suits his budget and usage. It's 15.6 inches, has a webcam (assuming by the pictures), 512GB SSD, i5-1135G7 (supposedly better than i7-1165G7), MX330 Graphics, Windows 10 Pro, and 3 Year Warranty. Price of around USD$905.

The good thing is that the laptop already has 16GB ram, so he doesn't have to think about upgrading. He did say wanted more storage but I told him, why wouldn't 512GB be enough? Unless he's gaming, take a lot of videos and pictures. Anyway, it's much better to back up to an external drive.

I told him the MX330 would at least allow him to play some games on low-medium. Although he insists he's not gonna game. I replied even then, it might help if he's doing video editing. For example, my gaming desktop with GTX 1060 3GB and 16GB ram does makes my video editing smooth and doesn't lag.

Dell G5 Gaming Laptop (2021 Latest Model), 15.6" FHD 120Hz Display, AMD Ryzen 7 4800H Processor (Beats i9-10885H), AMD Dadeon RX 5600M Graphics (Equivalent to RTX 2060), 32GB RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD, Win 10

I remember using my old Pentium pc to do video editing back in the days and it used to crash a lot. Sometimes, Microsoft Movie Maker software won't even start. Even my HP laptop had a bit of a problem when I wanted to edit video gameplay. That's why I'm thinking of upgrading from the 8GB of stock rams.

The important thing is that it fits within his budget and the laptop could last him for about 5-10 years, maybe. My Acer Spin Pentium N4200 that I bought around March 2017 is still in pretty good shape. I can even play some old games like Diablo II. Although, I had to upgrade the ram from 4 to 8GB.

It does lag once in a while. That's why I'm not using it for heavy stuff like video editing. I mostly use it for retro gaming, backing up important files, and of course for entertainment like youtube. It's actually a 2-in-1 laptop but it's too heavy to be used as a tablet. That's why I prefer a detachable keyboard laptop.

Anyway, pretty much left it up to my bro now. Lol.

What you guys think?

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series Gaming Edition 7567 15.6-Inch Full HD Screen Laptop - Intel Core i5-7300HQ, 1 TB Hybrid HDD, 8GB DDR4 Memory, NVIDIA GTX 1050 4GB Graphics, Windows 10

Hey guys,

Check out my latest free-to-play Digital Combat Simulator World gameplay video!

Not much of action happening as I'm just trying out the game. I had some problem setting up the game at first. It's available on steam and, apparently, some gamers been having some sort of technical problem with it.

I've read that you must at least have more than 8gb of ram and to upgrade if possible. Lucky for me, when I bought my aftershock gaming pc last year, I decided to get at least 16gb of ram, would have bought more if I had the budget, to future-proof my gaming rig.

In any case, i've been admiring some of dell latest gaming laptop that have almost the same specs as my gaming pc. And, it's also way cheaper. If you had subscribe and watch my youtube channel, you'll see lots of sample games that I've tried playing on my pc.

Check out these dell laptops that have the same or almost same specs as my gaming pc:

Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming Laptop: Core i7-7700HQ, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD, GTX 1060 6GB, 15.6-inch Full HD Display

Dell i7577-7425BLK-PUS Inspiron UHD Display Gaming Laptop - 7th Gen Intel Core i7, GTX 1060 6GB Graphics, 16GB Memory, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 15.6", Matte Black

2017 Flagship Dell Inspiron 7000 15.6" FHD Gaming Laptop - Intel Quad-Core i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD+8GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB, Backlit Keyboard, MaxxAudio, HDMI, WLAN, Win 10

If you're on a budget, check out some of these lower price dell gaming laptop. Doesn't have the same i7 or rams but, you can always upgrade later on.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series Gaming Edition 7567 15.6-Inch Full HD Screen Laptop - Intel Core i5-7300HQ, 1 TB Hybrid HDD, 8GB DDR4 Memory, NVIDIA GTX 1050 4GB Graphics, Windows 10

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 5577 Gaming Laptop - (15.6" FHD (1920x1080), Intel Quad-Core i5-7300HQ, 1TB HDD, 8GB DDR4, NVIDIA GTX 1050 4GB, Windows 10 - Black)

Dell Inspiron 5000 Gaming Laptop - 15.6" Full HD, AMD A-10 Quad Core, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Radeon RX 460, Windows 10 Home, Black - i5576-A298BLK-PUS

There are already news of an i9 gaming laptop coming out. That will definitely blow out the water of the latest i7 but, most games can already be played on these specs. If you're on a budget or in school, and don't need all the bells and whistles, these would suit just fine.

I've been asked a lot about my acer spin 1, which are pretty cheap and it's not even a gaming laptop. It only have an HD505. I put up videos playing street fighter and torchlight. It plays pretty smooth. Of course, the games aren't really graphic intensive and even then, I've put it on low settings.

My best bet, if you're on a budget or looking for a gaming laptop beside already having a gaming pc, then I'll recommend the dell 7000 series that have a pretty good specs relative to price. Although, I'll upgrade to 16gb of rams to top it up!

Retro Gaming On Cheap Windows 10 Cheap Budget Laptop!

Newest_Lenovo Thin and Light Laptop PC 14" FHD Anti-Glare Display, AMD Dual Core A6-9220C, 4GB RAM, 64GB eMMC, WiFi, Bluetooth, HD Webcam, HDMI, USB-C, Windows 10 Pro

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Nowadays, it's pretty easy to set up retro gaming on your pc or laptop. If you have an old laptop, just install RetroArch, download game ROMs and you're set to go. A great way to breathe new life into an old unused laptop or pc.

You can also get a brand new cheap laptop that runs Windows 10 well enough for some steam and retro gaming. I've got an and Acer spin 1 that can run starcraft and street fighter pretty well. It's also a 2-in-1 with a touch screen and 1080p HD!

I've also installed RetroArch for retro gaming. Play it with my Gears of War (GOW) theme controller. Watch the video for the demo gameplay of street fighter. Windows 10 store also has some great FREE games you can download and play.

You don't have to buy an expensive gaming laptop to enjoy gaming. Although, there are some good cheap versions available. If you can get a budget laptop that you can use for school or work. It'll be more than enough. Install Kodi, and you'll have a full-blown entertainment system on the go!

The minimum specs I prefer are windows 10, 8gb ram, HD505 (and above) graphics and whole lots of space but within the 'budget' price. I've bought mine with 4gb ram but later upgraded to 8gb. People asked me if they should upgrade, and my answer is, yes!

I'm also thinking of getting a cheap laptop to install Linux. It's a good way to update yourself on a different OS and what it can offer without paying a bomb for it. You can install and try out different versions of Linux like Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Debian, raspbian and many others!

Here's some list of the cheap laptop with a Price range between $200-400 you can get on Amazon:
