Hey guys,

Check it out!

A week ago, I decided to use a double-laptop setup. My main laptop will be my new HP with AMD Ryzen 7. And, my second laptop will be my ACER Spin 1 with Intel N4200. It's already over 3 years old but still usable. I could just get a portable monitor but I didn't want to just keep it inside my drawers.

My Acer Spin 1 kinda lag sometimes. You can use it for basic stuff like watching youtube, check emails, or whatever. I can't play any Triple-A games but I can play some oldies and even retro games. So, it's still pretty useful. On the battery mode, it can actually last much longer than my HP!

I use my favorite 60% RK61 keyboard and mouse with my HP laptop. While I can just use my Acer laptop touchpad and keyboard if I need to use it. I mostly only use it to watch Youtube or listen to music while I work on my HP.

Right now, I'm using my main desktop computer to work on this blog post. I have my main ASUS monitor and two portable monitors. They're of different screen sizes. I didn't think of using them together with my desktop at first.

I really like my multiple monitors' setup and can easily multi-task. That's part of the reason, I decided to use a double-laptop setup. Only, instead of getting another portable monitor I just used my Acer laptop. The problem is that I keep forgetting and kept pushing my mouse to go to my Acer screen.

I'll realize what I was doing and use the Acer touchpad and keyboard. That, got me thinking. Can I use the same external mouse and keyboard that's attached to my HP on my Acer laptop? Would definitely be easier to control both of them at the same time.

I did a quick search on Google and found a site that talks about Microsoft Software, Mouse Without Borders. I thought, what the heck, I can try it since it's free and it's from Microsoft. I hate software with trial date limitations. Especially, with ads.

For some reason, I thought this is old software (2018). Even the page looks kinda old. I wonder if it still works. But, after the installation on my HP and then installing the same software on my Acer, I connect them with the HP passwords given. Voila!

It works pretty flawlessly. Although I think because my Acer is kinda laggy, I need to shake my mouse around sometimes to find it. The good thing is that my keyboard works on the Acer laptop too. This way, you can work on both laptops with just one main keyboard and mouse. Cool!

You can also transfer files, copy and paste, and work between both your laptops or PC. Pretty nifty. In a way, it's kinda like Microsoft's latest, Your Phone App. Where you can access your phone on your PC. This is definitely one of my favorite app that I'm using right now.

My current double-laptops setup. Hp and Acer!

As you can see, it'll be a little cumbersome for me to use my Acer laptop, which is on the right, without an external keyboard and mouse. Now, thanks to Mouse Without Borders, I can just use my main external keyboard and mouse to control both separate laptops.

One thing to note is that, while gaming on my HP if I move the mouse to my Acer, the game window will minimize. But, I can continue playing when moving the mouse back to my HP. I also haven't tried transferring any files. But, I can copy and paste between the two laptops.

You can only use it with 4 separate computers. Maybe, next time, I'll try controlling my laptops with my desktop keyboard and mouse. I've already tried connecting and using my main keyboard and mouse on my android tablet. Which can also be done wirelessly.

I love connecting everything to my main desktop. Multi-tasking is Super cool and super easy!
