Is Dual Screen Laptop Monitor Stupid idea?

Duex Pro Portable Monitor (Upgraded 2.0 Version), The On-The-Go Dual-Screen Laptop Monitor, 12.5" Full HD IPS Display, USB A/Type-C, Plug and Play, Dual-Side Sliding, Sleek and Lightweight Design

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Is having a second monitor for a laptop stupid? I used to think it is so. I can't remember if it was Razer or other companies that did a demo of their double or triple monitor for the laptop. Back then, I was thinking why would anyone want a laptop with so many screens?

It looks bulky, heavy, and also kinda ugly. It would certainly drain the laptop battery much faster. That two hours of gaming will become 45 mins of gaming without plugging into a PowerPoint. So, I don't really see the point.

My mindset though began to change once I decided to use my portable monitor as a second monitor for my main pc. I bought my portable monitor to be used with my Samsung phone. Samsung Dex is a cool way of turning your phone into a computer with its desktop user interface (UI).

I don't care how powerful other phones are, but Samsung with its Samsung Dex is a clear winner to me. Yes, there is Microsoft Your Phone app that you can mirror and use to access your mobile phone on your pc. But, Samsung Dex has a better UI. If they had a lapdock, that will be more useful!

You can read up on a few of my past posts using a portable monitor here. I was thinking of using a portable monitor as a second monitor for my laptop too. But, I like the idea of having a dual or trio monitor directly fixed at the back of your laptop screen.

It's much faster and a little hassle to have the extra screen fixed to your laptop than having to take out a portable monitor and setting up everything. All you have to do is shift out the extra monitor screen and start working. Yes, after using a dual monitor setup for my pc, I now realized how useful they are.

One thing though, they're still expensive, bulky, and ugly. Okay, not that ugly. Big screen Tv is getting slimmer and lighter. So, why can't that translate to a thinner and lighter dual or triple laptop monitor design? They really need to do more research on that.

Also, I'm hoping for it to get a little cheaper. Especially, when you can get a cheaper 15.6-inch portable monitor nowadays. That's why I'm torn in between getting a portable monitor or an attachable portable monitor for my laptop. I guess it depends on your personal preference.

As more people got into the idea of having a second or third monitor on a laptop, they might become more popular and cheaper. They need to come out with a nice and lighter design though. That new Asus Duo design took me a while to finally win me over.

Now, if only I got the money to get it and try it out. :p

My Portable monitor as second extended monitor

TOPOSH Portable Monitor 15.6” USB Type-C Full HD 1080 IPS USB C Portable Monitor Built-in Dual Speakers Compatible with Laptop Computer Raspberry pi Gaming Monitor for PS4 PS3 Xbox

Hey guys,

Check it out!

The portable monitor is the rage nowadays. There are tons of brands out there available right now. And, most of them are pretty good. I've got a feeling they're designed and manufactured by some Chinese specialist company that will cater to your own company specifications.

That's why you can see, some of the design of these products look kinda the same. Only, the brand name is different. The one I bought is from China OEM and it doesn't even have a brand name. Although, its design is identical to Eyoyo. But, it's been working great for me. I love how portable and flexible this is.

As you can see from the video, I'm using the portable monitor as an extended monitor. An extended monitor is like using two computers at once. You can split your work between two windows. I like watching youtube, so my main monitor is used to watch videos while my other monitor is for checking emails and my other social media.

The good thing about my portable monitor is that I can also use it on the go. I can use it as a monitor for my Samsung S10+. It's also compatible with my xbox one s and raspberry pi. You can use it with your raspberry pi 3 as a Linux computer or retro gaming console. You should definitely get a portable monitor!

Here's some popular brand you might want to take a look!

Planar Helium PCT2235 Touch Screen 22" LED LCD Full HD Resolution Monitor with Helium Stand

Definitely, get one as a second monitor or for use with your raspberry pi project. Use it as a Linux computer or retro gaming machine. You don't even need them and can just use a USB thumb drive to watch movies or listen to your favorite music. Way cool!

Remember, this thing isn't that light if you're thinking of bringing it around for mobile computing. I like to use it with my S10+ and access my emails and social media. It's like going around with my laptop. Only that, my phone is my computer. And, I don't even have to tether to a laptop to access the net. Since my phone is already connected 24hrs!

I'm surprised the idea of using your phone as the main computer with a lapdock haven't caught on yet by now. I mean, the phone is already that powerful enough by now. Samsung has done a good job with Samsung dex and Linux on dex. Google and other big company should follow suit. Why pay for another laptop when all your data are already inside your phone?

Portable Monitor for Laptops

SideTrak Portable Monitor for Laptop 12.5” FHD 1080P IPS Attachable Laptop Screen | Efficient USB Power | Compatible with Mac, PC, Linux, Chromebook 13”-17” Laptops (Patent Pending) | Improved Version

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I was browsing around the net when I saw this laptop with a second monitor. Yes, it's been out for a while although I don't think I've seen someone actually using it. In a way, it's actually a portable monitor with its holder stick to the back of your laptop main screen.

I'm actually using an 11-inch portable monitor right now as my second monitor. My main monitor is a 27-inch Asus HD monitor. It's not after I've been using this setup that I realized how useful using two monitors at a time is.

In fact, I'm thinking of getting another portable monitor. I open a lot of browser tabs when I'm online and having a 2-3 monitor is pretty useful. Especially, when I keep forgetting which tabs that I opened contain the information I'm looking for.

I remembered some time back companies were demo-ing dual or even triple laptop monitors. I wasn't really impressed or interested. Like I've said, only after I have the same dual monitor setup at home that I finally get it.

I find a portable monitor is really useful as you can also use it for other purposes. Like, if you're into a raspberry pi computer, you can work on your windows laptop while using the portable monitor to connect to your raspberry pi.

You can also use the external portable monitor with your Samsung phone. Wireless connect your phone via Microsoft 'Your App' to access your phone. With Samsung dex, you can use your phone as a second computer too. Pretty nifty!

Definitely, a dual or triple laptop monitor is a useful feature if you multitask a lot. The only minor complaint from me would be the added weight and thickness. I don't think a second monitor would be a problem but if it's another dual monitor, it'll be like carrying a couple of bricks!

They really need to find a way to minimize the weight and thickness of the screen. Oh, also if the monitor doesn't use too much power. I think, with the new flexible and thin monitor, that might solves the problem. So, I'm really looking forward to tech companies finding a solution.
