Echo Show 8 - Stay connected with video calling

Echo Show 8 Sandstone with Blink Mini Indoor Smart Security Camera, 1080 HD with Motion Detection

Hey guys,

Quick promo!

Pandemic or no pandemic, use Echo Show 8 to stay connected with video calling!

What's a better way to stay connected with friends and families via video calling. Nowadays, everyone is video calling. The school is doing their online study. This should already be the norm even before we need to do social distancing and wearing masks.

I still remember the movie Aliens where Ripley video-call that guy, I forget his name. When I saw that I was wondering when if ever will we be doing that too? Later on, we have the webcam but one time, my old Pentium pc suddenly shut-down and I had to re-format after trying to video-chat with someone in the early days. Weird!

  • Alexa can show you more - With an 8" HD screen and stereo sound, Alexa can help manage your day at a glance.
  • Connect with video calling and messaging - Call friends and family who have the Alexa app or an Echo device with a screen. Make announcements to other devices in your home.
  • Be entertained - Ask Alexa to show you movie trailers, TV shows, movies, or the news. Or listen to radio stations, podcasts, and audiobooks.
  • Control your smart home - Voice control compatible devices or manage them on the easy-to-use display. Ask Alexa to show you security cameras, control lights, and adjust thermostats. Create morning routines to start your day.
  • Made to fit your life - Cook along to step-by-step recipes with Food Network Kitchen. Easily update to-do lists and calendars. A glance at weather and traffic on your way out.
  • Put your memories on display - Use Amazon Photos & Alexa for a picture-perfect pairing. You can turn your home screen into a digital frame, share your favorites with friends and family, and even take photos.
  • Designed to protect your privacy - Electronically disconnect the microphones and camera with one press of a button. Slide the built-in shutter to cover the camera.
Of course, nowadays the technology is much better and thankfully, you can already use it during this pandemic. Which would be a while before everything gets to normal again. Besides, video-calling there are also many features that you can use with it.

My favorite would be the ability to listen to some background Jazz while you're doing your thing. And, quickly asking what the time is or how's the weather going to be today or tomorrow. All just by talking to your Echo devices.

Security is also important for me and I'll like to know who is outside the door or what's happening around the house. Sometimes, you're so into doing your own work that a quick look just to make sure everything is safe.

Well, echo devices can help you with that too. Definitely, worth having in the house!

Video Calls Your Mom with Echo Show Premium Sound With 10.1 HD screen

Echo Show (2nd Gen) – Premium sound and a vibrant 10.1” HD screen - Charcoal

Hey guys,

Check it out!

Have you seen the part on Aliens movie how Ripley video calls burke? I've been waiting for that ability for decades and now you can even do that on your mobile phone. Even my mom prefers to video calls her daughter instead of just calling like they used to. It helps that the video is much better than before.

I recommended her to get the new Samsung Note 10+ to replace her Note 3 as she prefers something familiar. And now she's video calling with her new phone. She was afraid, it'll eat up her data but I told her, data are pretty cheap nowadays. And, she doesn't have to wait until she reaches home to use the wifi.

Nowadays, you have many products that you can use to video calls, check the news, listen to music and so much more. It's becoming more and more common. More needed to be done though. I haven't yet seen a video call booth in the streets or malls. They need to have a product or apps that can be used across any platform.

I think if people prefer video calls then you won't have any more prank calls. Because you can see who is calling. There have been many instances of old people receiving calls telling it's from the bank or the police asking for bank details or whatever. One time, someone called my dad telling him to pay $3000 he owes to a bank. Of course, that's b.s. Luckily, my dad didn't fall for it.

I found out recently that Facebook has its own video calling product. If you use FB a lot and have been chatting with friends or family members via messengers, now you can video call them. Pretty cool. I like the design and usefulness of this product.

Check it out below!

  • With tens of thousands of skills and counting, Alexa is always getting smarter. Skills are like apps and let you do more with Alexa.

Google also has its own video calling product now called, Google Nest Hub Max (link to their main site). It pretty much offers the same thing. You can get the latest news, watch youtube videos, listen to music and also control other linked products in your home.

I've used Google Nest mini before and it was fun. I would ask it simple questions like how's the weather, play music from Spotify, set reminder and alarm clock. When I bought my Note 10+, I received the Harman Kardon One Smart Speaker as a free gift which I paired with my phone.

This speaker is a beast. If you get two of these, you'll get stereo sound. Listening to music on this is a joy. Since I've paired with my phone, I set an alarm clock, reminder, listening to the news or playlist. I can even use it as a speakerphone and gaming is definitely fun with a loudspeaker!

Is the video calling product going to be more popular and common in the future? Especially, since data is getting cheaper. It's always better to see a face you're talking to instead of just listening to their voices right?

They need to make it cheaper and accessible to all. It would be good to start using it in school. Maybe, connecting to other students from another country. Talking and learning from each other cultures. Being able to connect that video phone to a big screen Tv, a monitor or a projector is a big plus.

google home mini unboxing - quick test and setup

Echo Show - Black

Hey guys,

Check it out!

I received a Google Home Mini, as a free gift for recontracting with my cable service provider. I decided to do a quick unboxing, setup and test. This thing is actually fun!

Setup was rather easy. All you need to do is download the google home app to your android or ios device. You can then link apps like spotify to it. Tell it to play music and it'll play random songs for you. Ask it to play a specific song, and it'll also do as you say.

You can also link it to your house lighting or other products that have google home support. A pretty nifty tech to have around the house. Currently, I'm using it as a speaker to play my local internet radio. A great way to listen to latest information and music.

It's also my go to for asking the time and the day's weather. Even while the radio playing, I can ask google home, about the time. It'll automatically lower the radio volume and tell me. It will then raise up the volume again.

Frankly, I wasn't really sure what to make of the google home or alexa. I do use siri or google assistants. But, mostly just to test it out. I'm amazed at how good the virtual assistants have improved. Especially, in listening to my voice command.

If you have the dough, I'll recommend that you get an amazon, echo show. You can listen, read and even watch videos on it. Ask it about cooking recipes and you can read up the list instead of trying to remember what it just said.

Sing along to your favorite music with lyrics and watch while your baby sleep on the echo show. All hands free!

Get your echo show via the link below:

Echo Show - Black

  • Echo Show brings you everything you love about Alexa, and now she can show you things. Watch video flash briefings, Amazon Video content, see music lyrics, security cameras, photos, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, browse and listen to Audible audiobooks, and more. All hands-free—just ask.
  • Call almost anyone hands-free, or make video calls to family and friends with an Echo Spot, Echo Show, or the Alexa App. Instantly connect to other Echo devices around your home.
  • See lyrics on-screen with Amazon Music. Just ask to play a song, artist or genre, and stream over Wi-Fi. Also, stream music on Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and more.
  • Powerful, room-filling speakers with Dolby processing for crisp vocals and extended bass response. Play your music simultaneously across Echo devices with multi-room music (Bluetooth not supported).
  • Ask Alexa to show you the front door or monitor the baby's room with compatible cameras from Amazon and others. Turn on lights or the TV, set thermostats, control Amazon Video on Fire TV, and more with WeMo, Philips Hue, Sony, ecobee, and other compatible smart home devices.
  • With eight microphones, beamforming technology, and noise cancellation, Echo Show hears you from any direction—even while music is playing
  • Always getting smarter and adding new features, plus thousands of skills like Uber, Allrecipes, CNN, and more
When I see the echo show, it remind me of the scene in the movie, Aliens where the guy talk to ripley on the 'video phone'. This technology will improve more and probably be imbedded to our way of life. My mom are already constantly video calling my sis via whatsapp.

Of course, she's only video calling while at home using the wifi. It would be too expensive to use your phone data. Might, the day come where everyone prefer video calling because it's cheaper?

It doesn't come soon enough!
