I'm feeling excited and can't wait for my new Nintendo Switch lite to arrives. I decided to finally get it after selling my first-gen Nintendo Switch to my niece. They have been wanting to buy it from me of course at a reduced price for quite some time.

My nephew has been playing my switch since the day I bought it. But, my niece only recently decided that she wants it too. She had wanted to play the game overcooked 2 with her friends and she like the fact that you can dock the switch to play on the TV or handheld mode.

In fact, because of the lockdown, my niece borrowed my Nintendo Switch to play at her home. She'll be starting her new job at the customs office in two weeks' time. She just quit her administration job at the children's hospital and I must say, I'm glad. Especially, during this pandemic.

One of my nephew who is in the army had to stay in his camp for two weeks. There were rumors about one of the soldiers being infected. They have decided to quarantine all the military personnel. And guess what? My other nephew who's in the police is now having to do security standby for foreign workers' dormitory. A couple hundreds of foreign workers are now infected.

Personally, I'm a little worried about them. They're basically at the forefront of the pandemics. I always remind them the first thing to do when they reach home is either wash their hands or bathe. And, also to wash all their clothes. So far, so good.

I got myself the Zacian and Zamazenta edition because it's on offer right now. There are lots of products on offer right now because of the Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemics. It's kinda a weird time to buy this but, like everyone else, I'm starting to get bored and this will be my new toy to play with.

I read the news that experts been saying we should extend the lockdown to another two weeks. If that's the case, I'm glad I got myself the switch lite. I'll have a load of time to test this switch lite if it's any better than the first or second gen switch.

I've had my Nintendo Switch for a couple of years now. No doubt about it, this is the best portable gaming console. My nephew loves playing it in hand-held mode. Sometimes I prefer docking it and playing Mario Kart on my big-screen TV.

There have been rumors of a 2020 pro version. Well, I hope it's true. They need to catch up with the latest Xbox series and PS5. Which would have better graphics and games. I wonder if they can do it with a portable console though. 

First, they need to solve the joy-con drifting problem. At first, I was hoping, mine wasn't affected. One can wish. But, mine had already started to drift while gaming. It wasn't that bad. I can still play games without affecting the gameplay.


Overcooked! 2 - Nintendo Switch

My niece played a cookhouse game with her friend and told me the controller had a problem. I've done my research and there are videos on how to take apart the joy-con and clean the inside. I was lazy and thought I'd do it one day.

Yesterday, I docked my system and decided to watch some YouTube videos and the joy-con keeps drifting and changing the video on its own. When I tried to navigate the videos it kept going to the right. It was starting to get on my nerves. I finally switched it off and went to sleep.

I decided to strip the whole joy-con and clean it first thing in the morning. I checked out some videos on it and found a video by a YouTuber using the nickname Nintendrew. He had a better solution. Just use an alcohol base lubricant to clean the joy-con.


WD-40 Multi-Use Product with SMART STRAW SPRAYS 2 WAYS 8 OZ

I remembered I had a WD-40 which is mostly used as a lubricant to clean up lots of rust stuff and for work. I'll try using it. I turned off my switch and took off the controller. I sprayed some lubricants on a dry tissue and cleaned the joystick base.

Some use a toothbrush or cotton swabs to brush and wipe away whatever dirt might hinder the joy-con movement or connections. I only use what I have for now. If it works, I might get them later on. Did what I could and tested it.

Lo and behold. It works! How long until it starts up again? But, one thing is for sure, I don't have to take apart my joy-con. I tried playing some games and navigating through YouTube videos and it didn't drift anymore.

Now, I can watch my favorite YouTube videos in relative peace without the joy-con moving on its own and playing random videos. I will be asking my nephew to test it out later on too. I also want to know how long before it starts to drift again.

Well, that's a load off my mind. And, I was actually thinking of buying a new joy-con instead. Actually, I was thinking of getting joy-cons with a different color. It'll be fun to mix and match colors and make your switch more fun to use!

I hope this helps if you guys have the same joy-con drifting problem. If not, you have to take it apart and see what's causing it. There might be some faulty mechanism inside. Or, just your luck to receive a factory defect controller right out of the box.

My niece wanted Overcooked 2 to play on the Nintendo switch. So, I bought it for her. Her friend came over today to play. Lucky for me, I already bought the Nintendo pro controller. It's much better to play then using the small switch joy-con.

I haven't tried out the game yet but looks fun. I guess it's the same cooking strategy game like Cook Serve Delicious 2. Which I wrote about a couple of months back. There's also video gameplay of the game if you haven't heard of it before.

My niece and nephew want me to sell them my switch. But, I'm waiting for the new version. If ever it's coming out. I'm wondering if all my games could be transferred to the new system and how. I also need a bigger micro sd card. I'm running out of space with my current 64gb card.

The eShop is expanding and there are loads and loads of new games. Currently, if the game size is too big, I'll buy the cartridge. But, if it's a mere 3-5gb. I'll rather download it. You can quickly switch between games if it's a download.

Even if you buy the physical cartridge version, there aren't any cool posters that come with the game. That's really something missing. Remember the time when we used to paste cool posters in our room? Those were the days. Game developers should rethink their game packaging!

I really hope, the new switch will at least have 1-2 TB of internal space. With more games available for download. It'll be much faster to switch between games and not having to carry all your game cartridges everywhere.

Games today, are known to be very large in size. Games like NBA Basketball, Diablo, Wolfenstein II or Doom need a bigger micro sd card. Some of them might even be slow to start. But, it's really fun to be able to play all this game whenever and wherever you are. Even without wifi!

Nintendo switch is probably the best portable gaming console there is. And, I've been saying that since the day I got it. I actually took a plunge to buy it since my nephew was interested to play his favorite Fifa18. Which he is still playing until today!
