New Razer Blade Keynote - PAX Prime 2012

New Razer Blade Keynote - PAX Prime 2012

Yo guys,

Okay. I admit, I'm a little late to watch this Razer Blade 2nd edition presentation by Razer CEO Min Liang Tan?

After, watching it though, I'm impress with the way he conduct himself. Remind me of someone like Steve Jobs maybe? Yes, I'm a fan of Steve Jobs. The day, he present the first iPhone makes me want the product so much. But, it took a year before the 2nd edition of the iPhone was finally ship out to Asia and I finally got the iPhone 3G. I had to take up a new contract with another carrier just to get the damn phone as I was already with another carrier at that time.

Anyway, I'm already impress by the first Razer Blade back then. Only, to me it's a little steep in price and also I already got my m14x. Now, they have learn from the first product and feedbacks and now come back with a new updated product.

The specs are almost the same as the others gaming laptops like Alienware and Asus ROG 17". Check it out below:
  • Intel® Core™ i7 Quad Core Processor with Hyper-Threading CPU: 2.2GHz (Base) / 3.2GHz (Turbo) Intel® HM77 Express Chipset
  • 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
  • 500GB 7200RPM HDD (Primary Storage) 64GB SATA III SSD with NVELO Dataplex™ Software (Cache Acceleration)
  • Integrated Intel® GMA HD – Mobile Mode
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M 2GB GDDR5  VRAM with NVIDIA Optimus™ Technology
The 500GB space aren't enough for me. If you buy steams game, you know you can't download and save all your games in it. Well, you can buy an external drive and install all your games there. It beats the portability of it, if you have to carry another external around. At least the charger is a little smaller than the other gaming laptops.

In Asia, the price is around $3.5k, so you better save up (me included). I'm wondering with the US $ going down why the damn thing is almost double the price?

Of course, what makes the Razer Blade so special is the Switch UI. You're practically, getting an extra small touch screen mini laptop under one hood. You can customized it according to your preference for gaming or even checking your facebook while playing warcraft at the same time instead of having to log out of the game.

I guess, that's why the price a bit different than the other gaming laptops. It's also unique to Razer Blade. I don't have the Razer Blade so, I can't tell you how good it is with the games. You can watch gameplay for the Razer Blade on youtube. Judging by the specs, I'm pretty sure it can run most latest games from medium to high settings. Make sure you update your Nvidia drivers. It helps.

In all you can't beat the slim-nest of the Razer Blade and it is beautiful. As beautiful as my m14x. lol. I was thinking of upgrading to an m17x for more powerful gaming experience but really, the Razer Blade peaked my interest and I'm having second thoughts. Don't get me wrong. I still love Alienware and especially my m14x. I'm actually typing this on my m14x right now. If it was my girlfriend, she would have sulkz the whole time I'm typing this whole article. Lol.

If you're thinking of getting a 17" gaming laptop then I suggest you take a look at the Razer Blade. It's definitely beautiful and a beast at gaming too. You'll get to play around with the switch UI which is pretty useful to me as an added advantage.
