Hey guys,

Check it out!

Have a quick listen! (The link doesn't work as I've deleted my account. They deleted and banned the music I made while using their sounds in the daw? You can listen to it on my YouTube video though.)

I've been testing some of the available DAW aka Digital Audio Workstation and finally found one I like for my Windows PC.

What is DAW?

DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation, and it's a type of software that allows users to work with MIDI and audio in music production:

MIDI

DAWs can sequence MIDI data, and most allow MIDI controls to tune parameters during live editing.

Audio

DAWs can record, edit, and mix audio tracks, and then bounce them into a single audio file. DAWs also host virtual instruments and effect plugins for processing and manipulating sounds.

Workflow

DAWs have similar core tools but differ in their workflows and specializations. Audio engineers often develop proficiencies in specific DAWs based on personal preferences and needs.

Some popular DAW options include:

Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, FL Studio, GarageBand, Reaper, Reason, BandLab and Cubase.

To connect a MIDI keyboard to a DAW, you can:

Download and install the MIDI keyboard's driver software.

Connect the MIDI keyboard via USB.

Configure the DAW with the MIDI keyboard.

My new M-Vave SMK 25 II is connected to my Apple Macbook Pro m1 Pro and uses GarageBand. It comes free with your MacBook and there are so many sample music, virtual instruments, drum pads, and drum kits you can use to create your own music.

If you edit videos using iMovie on the Mac, you can create music for your own video without copyright problems. I did that for some of my YouTube videos. I didn't have a MIDI keyboard back then but just using the iPad. I also record videos using my iPad

I also have a Windows PC with a good sound system, so I looked for any free daw available. I downloaded and tried many but there are problems connecting to my midi keyboard. It was easy on the Mac and Garageband. So, my midi is not the problem.

I found an online site for a MIDI keyboard. I found one site named muted.io/piano It's a site for learning to play the piano. You can connect your MIDI keyboard and learn to play. But, it's not daw. you can't edit or record music. That's when I found BandLab.

Update:

I just found out that my first project on BandLab was banned and deleted for copyright infringement. Like what the fuck? I created music using the sound available on BandLab and they deleted it. I don't even understand their logic. The claimant is the company Bandlab itself. Lol.

I was planning to create another song but now, what's the point if they're gonna ban and delete it without even allowing me to contest the ban. I had to send an email to enquire about the ban. This is stupid and what's been happening to the Internet. Everything is ban ban ban. Wtf!

You won't be able to hear the music I uploaded to their site now. I've deleted my account. But, you can listen to the video above. Oh yeah, Garageband does have problems with copyright infringement too. I created music using my iPad and somebody claimed copyrights on it. Ffs!
