Hey guys,
Check it out!
I just bought a new Android 14 tablet with a wired keyboard, and it's pretty good. However, I later discovered that it's not Android OS 14 but Oreo 8.1. Someone told me that in one of my comment sections, but I didn't believe it initially, as my device says Android 14.
When I went online to check which Android OS was on the device, it stated that it was an Oreo 8.1. I was a little mad, as I thought it was the latest OS. The specs were pretty impressive, with large storage and RAM. Also, it's only around $100+ with free gifts!
Another commented that I should ask for a refund. I rarely ask for a refund because they won't give you a refund and always give excuses. The good news is that, even with an Oreo 8.1 version, it runs smoothly and does whatever I want.
The bad news is that some of the apps and games on the playstore are not playing or usable. Doesn't matter, cause all those latest bloated games and apps with in-app purchases or ads are nuisance. I ended up deleting them all. However, there are some I really wanted to run like Termux.
For just $100 I got an affordable mini laptop with Android OS. It can play retro games and I like playing around with old systems like the C64, Apple IIe, or MS-DOS. I love learning simple coding with basics. There aren't any good free apps for Linux terminals or Python on Android.
Those available suck. They're full of ads or don't actually work as the real thing. I end up just playing with the retro emulators. YouTube and other social media run smoothly on Chrome. I prefer using them to the apps cause they're slow and erratic behavior.
Using the Android Oreo 8.1 OS is pretty limited. Some apps and games don't play and act exasperatingly weird. You can try side installs but those websites that host them have many ads. It's better I guess as it stops you from going crazy and just install everything.
It's funny cause we don't have the self-control to stop ourselves from installing everything and anything we don't need or use. I have many apps and games on my phone that I haven't used for years. That's why I don't mind using the Oreo OS version.
Once, I stop installing apps and games that give me problems on the device, I have a blast using it. I usually use it in the morning drinking coffee and breakfast. I have a laptop but because the tablet is light, small, and always on it fits nicely with my daily morning routine.
I only need my laptop or computer when I need to do heavy workloads like video editing. I used my phones too but, then I needed to charge them. That's when a tablet with bigger-sized screens is useful for social media consumption. Enjoy the simple things in life!
